Washer decided to expire earlier this morning. Horrific burning smell and suspiciously warm drum. Obviously not the grin.

Two week old listing on Gumtree with the generic title of "Beko washing machine" at £80. Got it for £75. Looked like a fairly newish model on the potato cam photo.

Few months old at most, same model selling on AO for £430. Bargain! Too snazzy for me though. A washer does not need Bluetooth or a light in the drum!

After slowing sometimes to a full stop, the flasher relay on the Elantra decided to release the smoke today and pack it in. The grin is I kept the one in the old Elantra when it went to the rusty plains, and managed to restore blinking yellow lights in about a half an hour. Hoarding is sometimes good!

TK Maxx sometimes has some proper gems for not a lot.  Earlier this year they had magenta velvet blazers with brocade interiors and I wanted one SO BAD but they were all both not my size and not my budget.

My eyes paused on the word 'mentally', to check I'd read it right, and my brain then assimilated 'so I drove the Austin into the sea'. So glad that's not the case, and it helped lift your spirits.

I’m within a couple of miles of 3 beaches. It was a godsend during the early lockdowns.

Humans race over metres apart from the marathon,( and hurdle heights are in feet and inches) but horses still use furlongs. Rugby pitches are measured in metres but football and cricket in yards. ( the length of a cricket pitch is actually 1 chain).

Oh and we still have back yards, New Scotland Yard and Yardies.

What about the absurdity that is tyre sizing . A metric width , aspect ratio as a percentage but a rim measurement in inches .

Considering the size of the gun industry in the USA, it’s not surprising inches are still used there. 
I used to work in electronics where the USA is obviously a big player. They measured everything in 1/1000 in (thou) , while Europe and Asia was mm or microns.

You soon get used to doing the conversions in your head.
