certain models of Japanese spec mx5's are designed to have an 'Englishness' about them

here is my 1994 V-spec roadster, with delightful tan leather seats, matching dash trim and carpets and polished wooden steering wheel, handbrake and gear nob.

not particularly to my taste but they've made an effort.

I recently spotted someone with a similar model who is less keen on the previous owners embellishments

nice* bit of polished wood on the door cards, net for driving gloves / pipe holder

but the icing on this particularly cheesey cake is the glovebox lid

"British feeling, MACBETH light weight sport" no less :)

It looks more like the naff sort of interior you get in a 90s Maserati than any sort of Englishness.  That said, the script on the glovebox definitely makes up for it, being like the equivalent of a regretable drunken seaside tattoo of some Chinese words that definitely say "Love Peace Wellness" and not something defamatory about your mother.

This rhododendron always reminds us of when we moved into out current house as it was in flower then.

Yes, happened to me once, thankfully escaped.

So you're trying to fly from Manchester to Stansted and it sends you via Portugal, and on the return leg it's sending you via Tenerife, which is off Morocco and Western Sahara?

Oi!

As a Norfolk lad, I completely...

Err....

Umm...

Agree.

But don't do it again!

That's a pretty awesome front room garage. Near-ish to where I live, in the suburb of Ponsonby, in Auckland. Parking is notoriously hard to find there, and many of the old villas do not have the space on the property for a garage.

Assuming that there's no double yella lines outside, i would be tempted to park outside and go on holiday forv a week.

About midday Monday I ordered some parts at the local BMW main agent;  09:05 Wednesday I get a call - your parts are in. Not bad for a 35 year old car, let alone some of the parts being very low production model specific. The grump will I fear come when I attempt to fit them, blood is likely.

Tim Hunkin, explaining how computer-aided design was making cars all look the same.
"This body shell could be from anything, even professional mechanics couldn't tell what makes and model it was at first sight"
I've got 20p here that's says you're wrong, Tim.

Went out on my pedal assist e-bike this morning. Took it very gingerly as not wanting to damage the knees i had surgery on.

30kms covered, mostly flat or gentle gradients, and nearly all of it covered whilst on the lowest "Eco" setting. Very pleased with that, so will have several more rides on this route to build up strength and stamina. I am a fat bastard so no going for broke just yet.
