What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Spent an hour or two going back in time and watching BBC 2s “The car’s the star” Quentin Wilson at his finest!

I watched the 2CV, Reliant Robin and this one on the DS, which was my personal favourite as it featured eccentrics such as LJK Setright, and the famous philanderer Alan Clarke and his wife.

There’s many more to watch!

This thing has had problems for about 30 years. Since I claimed ownership 18 months ago, I've been meaning to get it fixed.

I eventually had to take it to an Italian man in Edinburgh. Problems fixed AND sounding noticably better.

I miss Anton Rodgers. He looked like just the kind of man who would have a DS.

His car seems to be on SORN at the moment, and DVLA thinks it's silver rather than black.

As is the late Alan Clarke’s Decapotale...

The Reliant one meets some  right cards!!

Quickest car turnaround ever! Mother Fumbler lists Jazz yesterday. Within 20 minutes gets call, 3 hours later car is sold. Finds new Jazz, views it, buys it, will collect it on Friday. It's the first of the new design Jazzes (from 2015-present), and it was built in Japan. In my (not very humble) opinion, it's a heavily computerised gimmicky lump of steel but she likes it and only has to pay peanuts for tax. It is also Hi-vis yellow. Unoffensive and cheerful, but is definitely noticeable!

Meanwhile, I've found a Micra that's very local for cheap monies with MOT, 77K on the clock, and was a part exchange. HPI clear and all, will be seeing it tomorrow. Lovely metallic cherry red, therefore zero fade which is a bonus. It's all been quite exciting for all of us these last few days!

Watching 1970’s blaxploitation classic “Foxy Brown”

God damn, Pam Grier is a whole lotta woman!  Bit of Antonio Fargas and a Willie Hutch soundtrack (sounds like Curtis Mayfield, that ain’t no bad thing) this is Saturday night heaven!

Spotted a K11 Micra on the A66, towing a caravan up a steep incline. It looked like it was doing about 10 mph......

In the time it would taken me to read that I’d have been in the rear end of the nearest truck!

Just looking at Vans on Ebay

There was a time when £75,000 would have bought you some Italian exotica , not any more , a very quiet LDV with no payload I'd guess if it's full of batteries

LDV went bust years ago. Has someone bought the name up? And if so, wtf would you do that?

Crazy isn't it, a transit would cost 30% of that money , 35k buys a lot of diesel

Posted

My Maxus cost me less than 1% of that.  With the number of miles I do in a van I reckon I'd break even shortly before my 256th birthday.

The MR2 made it through but the Picasso's electrics sh*t itself before it freewheeled in to the water, stranding  its four occupants.

I went to Scarborough, in Oxfam. North Face boots for £5.99? Really?

I'm a 9 and these are a 8.5. But I'm taking them no matter what. Tried them on and they fit.

I then spent £7 on cleaner and rewaterproofing spray. ?

Hopefully you can see before and after.

Boot sale this morning was like a new eastern European country had just joined the EU and they'd been coached in , I've never seen so many there.

Every boot had 30 people trying to get in it as soon as it was open,  they'd then offer 50% of asking whatever that was

One guy picked something up said how much , she said £5

He said, I give you £1 like he was doing her a favour

Her reply

Fuck off

Billy Connolly was right, fuck off is the universal language because he did just that, fucked off like he'd been slapped round the face

My 7 Yr old son is obsessed with all things Marvel/Avengers/Superheroes etc.

But he insist on referring to the villain in the Avengers as 'Vanos'

?

I think he's on to something...

The nipper is recovering well after a heart op a couple of weeks back and heard today that my nephew has had the all clear. Thank fuck we have our NHS.
