I've seen (pictures of) Bub's new motor. Absolutely nobody on here is going to buy anything worse all year, and that's a promise.

And yet now he has his beard him and it are the perfect match! If the hells angels did a mobility scooter!

Its like a more hardcore invacar

Those Zuckerberg "Data" pics have been making me grin too, there is a few flying around

This one tickled me too.

I feel a bit sorry for the poor guy. As a fellow introvert, been on show like that would be complete torture.

Too lazy to look for the lazy spotters thread, it did make me smile seeing it and it being local registered

Shame, because I think the chap essentially makes a good point.

He makes a very good point. Of promoting his business...

I've read the article twice and can't remember the name of his company.

However, if it gets people thinking twice before paying a huge fee for a train journey then I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing.

Public transport can be brilliant, trains and buses alike. But I don't think you should have to jump through hoops to get a reaonsable price.

Yeah but what have you got after the train fare? - nothing.

At least with a car you have some value left behind. He could get his £80 back as a scrapper. And provided it has a few months MOT, that's a few months where you don't have to buy rail tickets at all.

Man buys and runs car which cost the same as a weeks shopping - surely that's got to be a reasonable qualification for Autoshite?

No one on this planet buys the ticket that he did though. Why buy a travelcard to go to Bristol?!

Could have got a railcard (the Network Railcard) to the boundary zone, and then pay full for the rest for even cheaper fares. Or just split fares or go the cheaper route (via Salisbury).

Fair play if he genuinely got a working car for £80 off of gumtree. That to me is more of an achievement.

Normally I'd say yes but you know he's done it in a smug ironic way and there's way he's keeping that shit* car, what will his friends* think?

As if getting veg oil for 70 pence a litre wasn't good enough, I noticed this sign on the wall behind the car as I was tipping it into the tank!

Had to laugh at a facebook post from a local page, some cheeky fooker attending the Aintree races today has dumped their car on someones driveway, many suggestions as to how to extract revenge but the winner for me was to open the sump plug , drain the oil into a container then replace it all nice and clean like  :-D

Perfect, or find a local pikey & sell it for £50.

And how do we "know" this?

Man buys old cheap unloved car and gets shit for it on Autoshite...this place gets more up it's own arse with it's inverse snobbery with every passing week.

How do we know this? From the Independent article:

Mr Church calls himself a “life hacker“

That does indeed suggest that someone is very much up their own arse.

So you can only buy an old car if you do it "our" way?

Oh, and if you read a lot of the posts on here, both car related and non-car related, life-hacking is very much in line with the Autoshite ethos (or at least it was...)

If he had done it ‘our way’ he would now have seven cars, all broken and be waiting for the RAC three miles from where he started on a collection Fred for a fucked Lancia.

He could have taxed it via monthly DD instead of for 6 months, then just cancelled the DD. Win!

Not that good a life hacker then lol.

Beginner's luck, dontcha know. Fair enough to him, he's not aiming for us as the audience.

Yeah, fully support the "hey look, train tickets are really expensive" message but there was no way that was the cheapest ticket so it loses a lot of credibility.

By travelling sensibly I can do Rugby to London return for less than £50

Steady on now! There's nowt wrong with it. It's something I've been after for a while at a price I could just manage and it gets me back on 3 wheels. Two is better but disabilities say nope. May not be to everyone's liking but it's had more likes than dislikes and it's well known round these parts and won a few trophies as well as made it into trike magazine centrefold. I'm going to change a few things and make it a slightly different style also.
