Buckfast ≈ horrible medicine or cough syrup.

I think it's probably like herbal tea which is rank until you drink enough to get used to it?

Drank Buckie as a student. Excellent warm up for a night out.

Then we discovered Synatogen, which is like Bucky but with several red bull cans worth of caffeine added. Choo-choo!

Airdrie, Coatbridge & Bellshill form the Buckfast Triangle...

Rank stuff, I'd rather do Carlsberg Spesh Brew / TNT cider snakebites...

tastes like that red medicine that you got when you were a kid

Wine?

No tax since Feb (how has it taken so long?), no MoT and no insurance

You should have reported him earlier....!

Scene inside the garage at the end of my road.... Rover R8 416 poking it's arse out the door, J reg Transit being worked on in the middle, Trig-spec (RIP) Astra at the back looking like it's being used as a paint test mule. Permanently outside, early K11 Micra and passing by the end of the road was a Tata Ghurkha. The rusty Felicia that I think the owner runs was no where to be seen at that moment....

I just upgraded our focus CL to remote locking using bits I scrounged from the scrapyard. Total time 10 mins, cost nil.

£24, bargain

About as good a simple example of how dysfunctional the modern economic system is. Clear ancient rainforest to allow MNCs to grow Soya, wreck the land, destroy entire communities, poisin those who remain with agrichemcials (child cancer rates in soya plantation areas are through the roof), then poisin the countries who buy the product, often through feeding the intensively-farmed animals the genetically-modded product.

On a human scale it's genocide, on an environmental scale far worse.

“Soya is a business for the few and an epidemic for the masses.â€

Rapeseed oil is less harmful to our world and engines run better on it, it stays liquid to -10C and below. 10p a litre if you can be bothered to buy a sock filter and a pair of drums - it's less hassle than going to a supermarket, filling the trolley with individual bottles of oil and decanting them one-by-one into the tank - or into the boot, then into the tank.

Well, asda only had this or sunflower, and its cheaper than diesel. We aren't going to have this debate again are we?

I did spot 5l of nut oil, but it was a tad more expensive.

If you're not using ethically sourced extra virgin olive oil in the car Sam you're just an earth raping, sunflower hating bastard.

My cars not that much of a ponce. Even we don't use extra virgin olive oil!

Coconut oil might produce a pleasing smell out of the exhaust though. I'll have a better look on the shelf next time

Cars can run on nut oil? And to think I've been getting rid of mine in a tissue all these years.

No officer, this isn't what it looks like, I'm getting free fuel...

That's what the Sock Filter's for.

It's Hot Rod Drag Week. So far, I've seen both a Dodge Omni and a Suzuki Vitara hit 130mph at the quarter mile. Brilliant.

My cat, back in my house after disappearing over 2 years ago, spotted him on a local FB pets group

Grins all round although I have some impressive cat related injuries

He looks happy to be home! :D

Had he been taken in or just roaming for two years? I have a sleep-free night when ours stays out, thankfully he's a creature who is totally led by his stomach so if he's not been fed by 9am he's weaving between your legs most likely.

He was well pissed off but is happy now, he slept in someone's garden for 18 months then made his way inside gradually, I never got round to de-bollocking him but it's happening this week, he is huge and must weigh 8kgs, his head is bigger than my fist and I have big hands, he's managed to kick the shit out of me!

You would have been better talking him to the vet's for the de-bollocking.

Sitting at some traffic lights in a dip. An empty lwb Fuso Canter flatbed bombs down the hill opposite, flies through the lights, and up the short, fairly steep incline that's an entry to a dual carriageway, with a bit of interesting camber to boot.

It was going that fast it left the ground, and the camber meant the whole thing was flexing in the air!

Our power has been off all day because they've been cutting down trees around the power lines. Coming home I noticed they'd not cleared up a few sticks, so loaded the car up...

Should keep the Rayburn fed for a while.

Should this be in the scavenging thread?

I've taken all the environmental considerations into erm, consideration, and I'm still going to go to Costco for veg oil when I need it.

Speaking to a neighbour today and he was telling me how his 04 Laguna was giving central locking problems, not locking the drivers door.

Why in the grin thread?

He has had it for 12 years and this is the first electrical issue he has had!

Posted

I'll swap with him, mine isn't unlocking the rear doors this week.

Managing to work a Monty Python reference into a support call I logged with HP. :D

Those guys in the Indian call centre probably won't get it at all though.
