Taxed worse.

Polish out etc..

Pre 1960 innit with no MOT requitements, so strictly speaking you could tax that and 'drive' it couldn't you........How you suggest its roadworthy if you are pulled over is up to you.

Don't bother taking the Rav4 in for an assessment. Just tell the insurance company you have done!!!! They wont have a clue either way.

That sounds like a plan!

Things what I have discovered today: Vectra clutch smells of burning after I tried to pull away in 5th and 3rd. Later tried to set off with handbrake on, then waited ten minutes behind some tit in a Honda Jazz who had three separate goes at blowing his tyres up at the garage. I couldn't be arsed getting out to let him that the beeping sound meant they'd reached the set pressure, so just let him take forever. I then rolled up to use the vacuum next to the airline to find it wasn't there anymore, so I need not have waited anyhow.

An even better plan is to get 2 different ambulance chasing accident management companies on the case.

Two brand new Evoque hire cars ,two write off cheques etc WCPGW?

That sounds like a plan!

Does it have to be repaired by Polar Ford? Sounds like a right chew on. I'd take it (if I had the option) to a local indie with a big hammer.

Right, that's that then.

FIAT battery was knackered, luckily it's the same size as the Corsa, so a new one was lobbed on to the Vauxhall whose good battery went to the Cinq. Took the FIAT for a run, forgot what a bloody good laugh it is to drive. It's not moved (properly) in ages sow as a little sluggish then was great, like a little go-kart.

205 not started for a couple of weeks and fired up first go. Trip round the block in that and a quick look over then spotted the new alternator and belt and new looking oil filter and oil in the engine, must have been servied quite recently.

Interesting day really,

Started out with one of these:

And ended with one of these:

Only to find out it's got one of these:

I'd write a collection thread but a) I've just got back and I can't be arsed. And b ) absolutely nothing went wrong, even slightly.

Thank you to Mr Dollywobbler for being a good egg and selling me a car with bonus car parked inside. Now to make room in shed for a shitload of bits that no doubt will be passed on to the next owner when I get bored...

Ouch!

Seems to be the week for very rich people writing off ridiculously expensive cars.

I find the Gullwing rather more upsetting than the F1 though.

They were mithering the day after the 1st one!!

Does it have to be repaired by Polar Ford? Sounds like a right chew on. I'd take it (if I had the option) to a local indie with a big hammer.

They gave me the option of Polar Ford Warrington or some other Ford dealer in Liverpool. They are their approved repairers apparently. When they told me it would be Polar Ford, I was going to try and argue it and take it somewhere decent, as I used to have my company car serviced at Polar Ford and they are the worst main dealer I've ever used. I'm kicking myself a bit for that now, but there you go (thought maybe the bodyshop would be ok, but all evidence so far would indicate not. The yard just had cars in all states scattered everywher and as I previously said, they'd managed to lose one.)

The insurers sent me an email today, asking for every infantessimal detail of the wheel incident, including pictures, sketches, brass rubbings etc. They also informed me that I would now be charged my £350 excess when it gets repaired, which will then be claimed back from the other party. Before the wheel incident, my I was not going to have to pay any excess and none of the details above had to be supplied.

So I've emailed back saying I want them to drop this 2nd claim. I never wanted them to make a claim in the 1st place, I was just informing them that it had happened, absolutely nothing is damaged that wasn't being fixed anyway, I won't be sending any of the info they've asked for and I won't be paying the excess, because I want it dropped.

The only reason I told them at all is because when the damage was 1st assessed they guy took pictures of it from all angles, so I didn't want to turn up and get accused of fraud or summat daft when the damage was worse than pictured (even though it would make no difference anyway).

Lets see what bullshit I get next!

Good man J-T!!! Give the twats something to chew on.

Has anyone ever told the insurance company that theyre speaking to, that they are recording the call? The insurance company always says 'your call may be recorded for training and quality purposes' but if you started your conversation by saying 'I am recording this call on my iPhone so that I can upload it to facebook/money saving expert/send it to the insurance ombudsman/email it to your own chief exec/have a laugh with my mates in the pub with it' I reckon their customer service would miraculously start to improve after a few people had done it. Even if all you got was them saying 'sorry i'm hanging up as I don't want to be recorded, its against made-up-on-the-fly compamy policy', it makes them looks like twats before theyve even done owt.

Fitted replacement tail light to the Mk2 yesterday.

Some aftermarket bits really are shockingly bad. Ended up stripping the replacement light unit down and only using the lens and gasket.

Still. They were cheap.

Today I really like the Xantia, it is a day where I wonder if attempting to sell it to acquire a Maestro van is sensible at all.  I can count the faults on one hand where normally I'd have to take my shoes and socks off.  It's really easy to drive and easy to live with and not really that boring.  Nobody complains about it either, a first for one of my cars.

I'd not have another Maestro van.

They sound and drive like fucking tractors.

Save your money and your dissapointment for another day.

You had a Maestro car, you didn't like that, the van is far, far worse.

And then it's a bit crappier still.

I liked the Maestro car I had, I just didn't like the seats.  I could even tolerate the woeful gear ratios.  Had the white Maestro I borrowed been a manual A series rather than an auto S series it would've been spot on for me.  Why I never actually bought a Maestro like Angrydicky's I don't know.
