I normally don't like the whole "Make a trailer out of the back of a car then tow it with same type of car" thing, but there's something so unhinged about doing it with a Metro I think I've come around.

I love that it still has seatbelts in it.

My highly amusing* aside to him the queue was that “the welds almost look factory.”

He gave a knowing chuckle and proceeded on his way.

Heading west along the A14 this morning in the t2. Saw a Mokka dawdling the middle lane with an artic up its ass. Truck pulled out to pass and as soon as it was committed to the manoeuvre the fucking Mokka sped up so he'd nowhere to get back into lane 2. Lorry came across to Lane 1 and undertook the Vauxhall when it caught up with other traffic in 3. I followed the artic in lane one for a while and after a couple of miles we came across a stationary lorry in lane 2...

...and a nicely fucked Mokka in lane three.

I just finished making a shirt from scratch. Well, finished*, because I still have to make the buttonholes, but it is broadly speaking shirt shaped now.

170 miles from Falkirk to Stockton-on-Tees 30-35 degree heat and several traffic jams.

This never flinched at all, just took it in its stride. Only 1/3 tank of diesel used as well, 28.2.mpg.

A Good Car.

not much today, flushed out the rad with the hosepipe and while silt did come out the top is still white and furry. Made contact with the radiator guy in odiham but he’s not in the workshop until Tuesday and to call back then. I have though removed the fixings for the grill muff as I am never likely to use it and don’t like it. Want one @Three Speed?

I have also painted the front numberplate surround black as I didn’t like it as it was. May do the rear one at some point, but doesn’t bother me as much for some reason.

Serviced the new motor today. Bought it a few weeks ago from a nice family. He’s spent £££ at a couple of specialists for stuff like timing belt pump last year along with OE new rear discs/pads/calipers/hoses/handbrake module/4 all season tyres/front discs and pads etc etc. as a result it drives absolutely spot on and stops like new.

Under tray however was a bit of a mess. Managed to make it better with new wing nuts and bolts I had for under trays, and cable tied a broken piece so it’s as good as it’s going to get.

Fuel filter hasn’t been done for 6 years and around 30k miles or so, but changed and bled through via vacuum on the return line a treat. It’s only on 112k miles but it’s been given a full major service by me as I always do when I get a new motor. For a manual the clutch is as light as a petrol.

I’m not one for gardening. Grass gets cut, weed killer gets sprayed where needed around the edge of the house/driveway. That’s about it.

Lived in this house for 3.5yrs and there’s always been a herb bed next to the front door which we don’t use, it stinks and grows wild.

Decided randomly last week that it’s got to go but whatever replaces it needs to be low maintenance.

Dug it out, laid some membrane, stones and edging, half an old whisky barrel and some perennials. Job done. Quite pleased and even stuck a couple of old pots each side of the front door.

You may remember that I recently fitted a pair of twin del Orto 40's to my bay. I'm not really a fan of modifications, but I've had a 4 into 1 manifold on it for decades and a couple of years ago, a servo was fitted to the brakes. I'm not saying that it's finally  started driving like a real car, but in comparison, it is so easy now. I was curious as to how the fuel consumption might be affected and was amazed to return 33 mpg, when it's been averaging 23 for as long as I can remember. Barefoot is a happy VW scene bunny.

I needed a non running Stag moving exactly 10 miles so on the recommendation of a friend of a friend this chap turned up early Friday morning. He loaded up and dropped off again at mine without any fuss or drama despite having to back down my twisty driveway.

A 4.4 litre Range Rover and tasty six wheel trailer certainly beats an old Iveco or Transit flatbed.

I've got bugger all to say about my cars. They're there and that's nice.

Some unseen tosspot has hit the XJ but I've mentioned this before:

It now needs a wash. The Air-con still doesn't work. Fuck it, I'll tackle that in the winter.

The Air-con has been amazing in the S-Type. Fucking 'go me' eh?

Unfortunately, despite it being booked in for a gearbox oil change, I couldn't honestly get it done due to ongoing work issues, so I'm going to shelve that for the next few months.

415 miles, 28.8 mpg, 80% motorway rest town driving or NSL.

£100 in diesel.

Top temperature 37.5 degrees on Friday coming over the A66, 18 degrees today.

Not too bad.

I'm away for a lie down.

After the scorching heat of the past few days, last night we had hours of massive rainfall, thunder, and hail the size of golfballs. My cars are all inside and thus fine, but I think every single vehicle in this town that was parked outside has suffered damage in some form. My dad's Swift now has a few little dents in the roof and bonnet as well. Busy times for the body repair shops...

Thanks @richardmorris. Hard to imagine needing a radiator muff with temperatures as they are. But yes please, unless you get a better offer. Thanks!
