Fascinating YouTube watch from Jayemm.

I am about an hour in on this and believe the services of a hitman should be sought.

My neighbour was clearing out his shed and as he's not having another older car he was going to send all these to the tip. He asked if I wanted them, I said absolutely and thank you very much!

There's absolutely tons of great stuff!

The injector wiring under the air box is absolutely guaranteed to go on these because the vibration of the air box chafes the insulation away.

The solution once you fix the wires, is to put some washers on the air box mounts to act as spacers so it no longer touches the wiring.

This. It's a well known issue and will be plenty of youtube videos about it.

Same head unit as I have. That USB socket on the front is known to my unit as USB 2 - do you know where USB 1 is on yours? Also, is there a free way to revive my satnav which lost connection about a year ago?

Usb1 is on the back, I used a lead off it to charge my phone with when I owned the car.

These last years in particular were hand built in bertone’s factory alongside the Volvo coupe ( using the same paint codes). Fiat had no role apart from selling.

as for the polishing….

This time was autoglym super resin polish using the non-harsh disc ( did use the cutting disc on a couple of scratches I made dropping the roof on the windscreen surround). Followed by meguiars ultimate liquid wax on the soft buffing disc.  The polisher was recommended by @Six-cylinder and is a meguiars mt320. It is not cheap but exceptionally easy to use and I’m happy with it.

Drove to stepdad's house with Master Grogee today.

There's a steam fair in town which I'll go to tomorrow, unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get entry to the classic car part of the show. But the Maestro has been parked opposite Dad's house which is on the route for many show goers and I've enjoyed watching their heads swivel as they walk past.

Spent a bit of time topping up Dad's Focus A/C gas (just needs a regas m9) which is now blowing nice and cold again.

Always shocking to see just how much cars grew in size over time. Those two are same class, and yet Focus is over 30% bigger.
I remember parking my Mk1 Golf next to a then-new Polo some 8 years ago and Polo was significantly bigger.

I did something similar when the VW Fox came out. I was test driving it and saw a Mk1 Golf in a car park so I parked next to it. The Fox dwarfed the Golf in every respect especially height.

I hope things are reaching a limit. Parking in between two SUVs can be a challenge if you want to open a door, eg in a multi storey car park. If they've parked badly I enjoy blocking their driver's door.

I sure hope they are as well. European cities and infrastructure are not built for vehicles this large. I have serious problems parking 159 as the parking spaces just weren’t designed with that size of a car in mind when they were being built, especially if they planted trees between them ages ago. It’s not even that big car in modern scheme of things!

I usually park on the last floors or as far away from entrance as possible. I’d rather not get dings on the door from from oblivious morons in SUVs.

Is that how much it costs to polish a car these days? 🤔

I still use a bottle of turtle wax and muslim cloth, if I can be arsed!

No, but it compares to paying a professional to do the job once.

Took the Leaf hillclimbing today - a mildly surreal experience.

Best In The Clio 58.8secs, it has 182bhp and weighs in at 1090kg

Screenshot_20240818-181549.png.4317288def38b0028cfebee23c3ccad0.png

Best in the Leaf 59.9, it has 150bhp and weighs in at 1176kg.

You can feel the difference in weight and the Leaf lacks top end. It's also wider and longer, and the vision around the car is shite.

I reckon there's another second to be had, but I didn't want to bin it...

Lots of the folk who compete were like

"that gets off the line well, would like to see the 60ft times"

And

"I'd love that torque you have - it's relentless up the hills"

I then told them about @meshking and his 62kwh and additional 65bhp

Poor Clio Stu...

It's so odd with no sound..

As a 182 owner that looked really quick, I bet it's easier to concentrate on taking the racing line than worry about changing gears.

It's a bitch to place on the track. Longer and wider than the Clio and the view at the front corners is pish. But aye, I was pleasantly surprised..

i wonder how much range you used up on the 1 mile ? of track

i expected more tyre squeal but it looked pretty tidy - must have raised a good few eyebrows when you turned up :)

Very boring message incoming...

It seemed.to be using about 4/5% of the battery for each climb. I started at 77% (having done a partial charge before going to the track)

I stopped running when the battery got to 40%. That should have been enough to get me home (25miles).

However, I stuck it on for a 30min charge as I didint know how the battery would cope.

The charge took it up to 60% and I got home with 41% showing.

Range wasn't an issue and the battery pack held up well to the hillclimbing. I was damn impressed..

@320touring Are you going to do little bit of prep and get the Leaf entered to do Forrestburn properly?

(I used to hold a class record at Forrestburn, back in the day (Road Saloons 1000 to 1300cc, in a Lada) )
