Apparently I’m a very important customer to Skoda:

They’re going to be hugely disappointed by my absence I’m sure😆

I got a similar thing from Volvo yesterday. Considering leaving my 940 d24 idling on the forecourt whilst they unveil the latest electric gizmo.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets these!

I wonder how many whisky decanters they sold, at £141?

Where do I order? I’ll take a brolly and a rugby shirt size L please!

I hope you're prepared for the PTSD 9 years from now when it starts bringing up photos of the 320SI...

The hammer's still going strong unlike the car.

I had the injector seals replaced on the roffle E220CDI earlier in the week (noticed a little leak on one when I took the engine cover off, was imperceptible with the bonnet shut).  Unexpectedly, this has sorted the performance/gearbox issues - it now revs to the red line and it could almost be described as quite fast.  Garage did say a couple of the old seals were undersized, and some leak-off pipes were also replaced - could that really have this much impact?

I've just been speaking to a breaker who has a 4A-GE with 59,000 miles on it for sale for £300. Since I'm planning on plonking an F cylinder head on it and keeping my carburettor, I'm not sure if I'll need to replace the pistons in it as well since the GE pistons are domed so I'll gain compression. The Toyota forum consensus is that I'll be jumping from 9.4:1 to 10.5:1 and I'm not sure if that'll lead to pinking on premium.

Posted

10.5:1 doesn't sound too outrageous.  You could always back the timing off a bit if need be.

Just had a look on the usual suspect car parts sites and apparently I'll need to pay roughly £50 per piston if I want brand new 4A-F pistons. I've also just discovered that they're common to the 1.3 litre Starlet/Corolla engine for some reason along with the 1C diesel engine? I would've thought pistons would need to be a lot stronger to hold up to diesel compression ratios but sure enough the part numbers match.

It's my first summer here and the old grape vine that I amateurishly cut back last year hasn't been detered and is fruiting up nicely too.

One of my neighbours appears to have a new car. There’s what I think is a Ford GT in gulf racing colours in one of their spaces. He’s just come in in the red v8 cobra but didn’t get a chance to ask about it. It could be something else though, as it looks tiny ( about the size of my x1/9) and doesn’t have a front numberplate.

he also has a Porsche as a daily and this is his wife’s little runaround.

Went to a local tractor gathering/classic car show with the local 2CVers including @eifion

Some belting cars there:

Bad news: it was pointed out to me that some of the pipework underneath's looking a little crusty.
