Just about I'd say. The buildings are only just hanging in there. Appeared to be one bloke in the garage doing everything so I didn't linger.

Shopping around for insurance quotes for my Rover. Cheapest so far is £173, which is better than my renewal. Most expensive? Well...

Going to go out on a limb here and say Hiscox would rather not insure me. :D Either that or they're expecting me to cause some serious devastation in my giffer spec 216.

Took the x1/9 out for a walk. Going to try lanoguard on it later.

I'll admit that that area by the Strand has a certain charm to it.

But the river Medway looks just fine opposite it on my side.

Next up is a white one, followed by a Ford Corsair. 👍

With the 307 seemingly unsellable l've pulled the advert and will keep it for time being. Today I improved it a bit  by replacing the blown rear speakers. Easy job, just 30 mins to do both sides, including a brew break.

Well I'm certainly not going to rust now, and the car smells of wet sheep!

Nice to use though, and overspray can be wiped offwith a soapy microfiber cloth.

I got Maestro-stalked by a van driver.

He said: "I saw you in the high street and just had to follow you!"

It's really quite sweet I suppose, anyway he stopped and had a chat about his Maestro memories and showed me a picture of his Escort convertible ( @Cavcraft's folly).

Anyway it's flattering to be followed because of old shite, I'm sure it's happened to you lot as well.

I was followed home by someone when I was in my Cavalier once. They sat at the end of my driveway  and stared until I got out.

He just wanted to chat but the joke was on him because I knew where he lived and went on to talk to him about the Mitsubishi Carisma he used to drive about in and was languishing in his drive at the time.

Stumbled on a small car show here in France yesterday. One or two more unusual cars...Couple of interesting Simcas:

IMG_20240713_135631.jpg.a0086d58f578e764b63bab5bcdaf8ef5.jpgIMG_20240713_135717.jpg.6c52b882c0166278dc90bd24b738be14.jpgIMG_20240713_135638.jpg.63d3c346cceab36bab769be9f28d2c28.jpg

One slightly later than the other with different dash and detailing. Never seen one of these at a show before.

Citroen Axel:

This was in everyday use. Like most older cars in France these days on 'collectors' black and silver plates.

Some more:

Unusual Ford to see in the UK - but this Consul is a LHD export model:

Which site do you use?

Initially I compared some meerkats, cheapest quote from them came from MotorVision. When following up that quote, turns out MotorVision itself is a small comparison site rather than an actual insurance company, and the daft quote came up on their site alongside the cheap one.

Post Shite-fest I popped into a car show, as I simply hadn’t had enough old car shenanigans!

At Shitefest last night I was talking with some Shiters about my old MG Midget which I still see about occasionally… and today was one of those days as it turned up at this show!

You did not include my reason for being sat there!

Somebody caught me watching the 2CV racing this afternoon at the Citroen show! Racing with a difference, you had to assemble your car and drive it around some cones to get the best time.

I have a massive soft spot for Berkeley cars. Cool story too about how they were originally, and primarily, a caravan builder. Been really into them since I saw one at a show a few years ago and found out they were made 5 miles from where I live.

Verdict: arctic cool.

Me too. 328cc of pure power*.  I couldn't afford one at the time. Nor at todays prices.

Have seen a few fitted with Mini engines over the years.
