ah man, I'll see if I can find something sweet to send on from my box of stuff to send by way of an apology.  That's annoying, I bet it got lost at the shop I took it to, they're notorious for doing that, not my usual parcel drop off spot, but the usual wasn't open when I was free.

2cv getting wet outside.  Have just ordered a new battery as the 10yr old one has not recovered on the proper conditioner.

I used my hydraulic jack, was impressed, slow but then I didn't have the engine running..

My Rover 75 has been running cool with a higher than expected tickover, so I took it to a specialist. He switched on the ignition,  pumped the pedal 5 times, counted to 10, switched it off and fired it up. Tickover sorted! The errant temp gauge is caused by a split in a hose by the bleed nipple right in the centre ov the V. That won't be sorted quite so quickly,  but I've left the car with him...

Forgot too say i was looking for a split hose on intercooler, but all i found was oil seeping from where 1 pipe connects too the intercooler, pulled off 1 off the top and engine oil there too... am i thinking turbo seals are on way out..............

You'll always find oil in the intercooler pipes. A film is normal, a few drips is typical signs of wear but no immediate cause for panic, anything more than a dribble would probably be bordering excessive

MOT time for the Picasso in the morning. All looking good other than a couple of discoloured indicator bulbs which I'll sort out in the morning... I've rectified the sole advisory from last year, and as far as I know the rest of the car is good as I like to keep on top of things. Although of course it's always good to have another pair of eyes give everything a once over. 

Looks like it'll be raining so I'll probably get away with the slight power steering leak as everything will be wet 😎

I would say that's fairly typical of a PD engine to be honest (assuming it is in the Galaxy? Hence talk of injector loom etc..) - a sure sign the turbo seals are on their way out. If it doesn't smoke much then it's probably in early stages

And OMGHGF!

That's a bit of a bastard. Split on him last night apparently. When asked for a price to repair, he said I could leave it with him. But it might not get done before Xmas.

I wanted to do a run to the tip so yesterday backed the Granvia up to the yard gates and noticed the battery x2 were low as it only just caught so I left it running while I loaded it up then parked it up again for a tip run today.

Come today and the batteries haven't enough power to even work the central locking so after jumping it up again rand checking the charge (13.9 @ 25amps) there must be something draining it as both batteries tested ok.

Sticking a meter on it shows a drain that goes from 4.5 amps down to 1.7 amps after a few mins.

Back in my old RAC days I used to find a lot of high current drains were from naughty alternators so before pulling fuses I stuck my hand on the back of mine and it did feel a bit warm but didn't smell hot so I unbolted the battery charge cables from it a checked the drain again.

That'll do nicely although I now need an Alternator.

In the past when my old Hiace needed an alternator I used a friendly battery/alternator repair shop 30 mins up the road in Bexley but now that's in the ULEZ bollox zone I had to reluctantly give them a swerve.

£12.50 was just about bearable but they couldn't guarantee they could turn it around the same day and so two lots of £12.50 I can't stomach. Shame because I like to use good independent guys but there you go.

So I found a little used refurbished one on eBay that got posted down from of all places the isle of Skye in 48 hours.

To save my knackered spine from excessive strain I put the van up on a pair of plastic ramps (liberated from a defleeted Kwik fit tyre van and very useful too) and 40 mins later it was all done and now I have no current drain.

It really is a useful wagon to have on the fleet. Last Summer it towed a caravan around the west country and Wales carrying four adults in air conditioned comfort without complaining try doing that with a 1996 Transit.

Curiosity got the better of me and so I pulled the cover off the old one and sure enough there's evidence of it shorting out.

Didn't think 40 miles/1 hour away is enough for a collection thread.....
New toy for La Sproglette (maybe). DV6 engined Bini R56.
Goes well, a little vibration at 60mph someplace in the front end. 
Small bit of crud around injector tops but nothing major. Some history incl. cambelt/DPF stuff.
Needs some trim fettling and would maybe benefit from both subframes getting dropped, cleaned & painted if it's a keeper (the car, not the kid) .

looks like a 2.0is,  I had one in the same colour, a great car, only sold it because I moved abroad.

Bit of a mad day yesterday, as covered in the grumpy thread.

It finished up with my mrs having to go back to hospital as she had some bleeding and the maternity triage wanted her in as a precaution.

Shes fine, but it meant that we left home at 6pm yesterday and I wasn’t home until 1am. I then had to go pick our son up from my parents at 7am because golf/horses.

It was properly weird coming home and going to bed without my mrs or son there. I’m glad I have the dogs as their company helped me relax and fall asleep.

I’m currently waiting to see if my partner can come home or if they’ll be inducing the birth, fingers crossed she comes home.

We have one in Liverpool.  Unsure of the brand but it’s significantly cheaper than more typical options.
