Tape on the bonnet and boot? You have better eyes than me. I only washed it once in 6 months though.

Have you rubbed the hole in the front bumper out that still gives my D in L nightmares?

It's a very nice car that was compatible with my needs at time of purchase.

Hope it serves you well.

I've not done a lot with the hole in the bumper. I used some boiling water on it to try and push it out a bit, managed to get it a bit flatter and reckon it could be fixed* with a bit of fibreglass and filler if you took it off and done it form behind. There is however someone on in Maryport selling a front bumper on eBay, might be a more sensible choice.

Thanks Mally, I'm really chuffed with it. I'll enjoy it for a bit and it will probably be advertised here and stay in the fold whenever I do decide to move it on.

I'd say to try a better branded one, such as Bosch.

I owe you a pint good sir.

Bosch sensor arrived today, removed the Amazon ‘Frankberg’ sensor and swapped it for the Bosch one, all warnings gone, didn’t even have to clear the codes. (I did clear them to get rid of the historic code anyway though)

No warnings, TC/ABS/runflat warning all working as it should again.

"Frankburg" 🤣 FFS 😂 - we've got a daft tyre names thread, maybe we need a daft chinesium car part names thread :)

I guess they must make their money churning out this pure shit on the basis that a proportion of people simple won't bother asking for their money back due to the relative low cost.

Honestly, no bother. Glad to help :)

I got a black bumper offered at £100, which I knew I'd never see back.

Someone on here told me you can just swap the centre section, and they probably had one but I never followed it up.

I could run through my messages but I'm not sure if it was a pm, or just a comment on one of my posts.

I'm not sentimental about cars, I've crashed them for 55 years. Feel free to do what you like.

It's a nice thing in the sunshine though.

Edit, and surprisingly snug in Winter.

Took the Oxford out to dinner tonight. 42 miles round trip up the m80 to Stirling.

Half the run done at night. It's happy at 55 on the flat, 50 on the hills.

Was an absolute champ, perfectly happy driving it about. Well pleased. Took 15 mins to get 20L of fuel in it cos had 3 folk come up to talk to me whilst filling it🤣

The "illumination" may need some work..

Things to note - I think the charging system is struggling with things when the lights are on. The ignition light stays lit. Found a fucked positive battery clamp (spare procured from Halfords).

Been preparing the Blue MX-5 for sale.

I suspected it had a small leak from the rain rail after I changed the roof last year. Hasn't been an issue as it's either been garaged/ hardtop on.

Anyway - fixed. It's my own fault. The bolts holding the rail brackets weren't nipped up enough, so wasn't sealing correctly.

You do wonder what goes on inside the heads of Manufacturers as JLR kill off one of the most iconic motoring brands.

I feel unless you're a car person or Landie botherer the LR name is kind of dead anyway.

JLR sell lifestyle vehicles, Land Rover is a name harking to utilitarian work vehicles. Even then I suspect "Land Rover" is associated more with "what we had to buy before the Japanese built pickup trucks"...

Land Rover is dead but they're keeping Ranger Rover, Defender and Discovery on as brands. I don't think the status quo is getting rocked.

I do think a lot of people say I have a Range Rover rather than a Land Rover Range Rover but it does seem this plan is a load of shite, which will ultimately confused the customer.

I think they should rename the the Jaguar XE to be the Road Rover, the XF to be the Road Rover Sport and the F-pace to be the Road Rover off Roader

Let us have a moment of silence in remembrance of Land Rover, followed by the 21 tilt-and-slide salute:

And yet the parent company is still JLR. So is that just a meaningless acronym now. A bit like BT I guess, I don't think they've used the words British Telecom for about 30 years.

Out for dinner with my best mate from uni and her fiance on Thursday night - it's her late mum that was the former owner of my Meriva - and she happened to mention her nan was potentially looking to get rid of her car as it was causing her trouble.

07 Corsa D. Bought new. 12000 miles on the clock. It looked mint when I saw it while picking up the Meriva. I don't think she'll actually get rid of it, but have thrown my hat into the ring.

This adds the number of vehicles I'm potentially enquiring about to three, if we include my friend's dad's Insignia (my friend being the former owner of the Sedici) and my sadly soon to be late uncle's old SLK.

Despite the fact that what I really need is a tiny shitbox or a van.

I don't get it. It only makes sense if it costs to write the name on the cars or if they think they'll sell more without it

I doubt either of those things are true in any meaningful way, so you'd just keep it, wouldn't you?

Then again, early Range Rovers weren't branded Land Rover or Rover but kind of considered to be Rovers or a hybrid of the two

It mainly makes me think of when Austin Rover decided not to call the cars Austins any more so you got a range of unbranded Metro, Maestro and Montego

I finally did the tip run I’ve been putting off today. I didn’t want to shuffle all the cars round, so I went and grabbed the nearest thing with a tow bar…

Amazingly, I made it with the trailer still attached.

It’s almost like a tipper trailer with the height of the Lada tow bar 😅

My rediscovered enthusiasm for car stuff has continued now that spring has sprung.

Bought a cheapo dual action polisher from Argos and set to work on the Lexus. I used this Auto Finesse "One Step" Compound as it seemed reasonably straightforward. I used the Bilt Hamber Double Speed wax on it, it's a great product and a tin will probably last you years.

This is the only crap photo I have, but I'm happy with the results. It looks very smart indeed.

My parents have put their tourer caravan on a seasonal pitch on the Solway Coast this year so we took a run down over the Easter Weekend for a few nights. Fabia was the steed of choice.

Some scrap in Silloth. We also had a look round the Silloth Motorcycle Museum. It's just basically the bottom of someone's house but there was some really interesting stuff. Free entry but well worth a small donation.

On  the way up the road we nipped in to the Leadhills Railway and then on Easter Monday the Fabia took us to the Doon Valley Railway running day for a steam train ride and then onwards to Girvan for Ice Cream.

A big weekend for the Fabia. I filled it up on Saturday there and it had done 574.2 miles and used 38 litres of fuel for a frankly obscene 68.69mpg.

What a car.

I took my lovely £250 Cabriolet Golf for its MOT today and it passed with flying colours.

The MOT tester even called me over  to have a look  under the motor  as it’s literally like brand new underneath and he couldn’t believe the condition.

Even the bottoms of the wings are rot free and it drives so nice and runs like a Swiss Watch.

Shes most definitely a keeper, as I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I like the old 8v GTi 2 litre .

I’m just amazed that such a beautiful car which has got another 24 years use in it with general servicing was going to be scrapped, as we really live in a disposable society.

They've managed to completely ruin the name and reputation of Land Rover, Range Rover, Defender and Jaguar so they might as well just fuck them all off and rebadge a load of Mondeos or something...

Oh wait... 🤣

Well, Karma is fast these days. I went to collect my new Disco 3 today, and turns out it’s an inch too wide to go on the pikey trailer. It sits like this and smokes like a bastard so I didn’t fancy driving it home either.

FTP!

Maestro, picking up Pat from a social, heavy traffic, gears started disappearing on me, felt like a dead clutch which I can normally drive around.  Gradually got worse until in heavy traffic it just made a lot of revs, barely any forward progression and then stalled hard.  Turned out one of the gear linkages had done a Saxo and popped off.  Popped it back on and normal service resumed, normal service being so much slack you can wiggle the gear lever in every gear as though it's neutral, even while driving.

At least it wasn't the clutch or worse, the gearbox itself.

All I did was drive to waitrose and work in the 2cv this morning. Slight aggravation at the Esso when I decided to fill up when the fuel cap didn’t want to unlock. Lubricated it when back home and seems happy again.
