Washing the car today and...

...it's okay, I fixed* it

Trying to turn it into a HLE version?

Much use was made of the wheelbarrow today, to get stuff from the shed to the driveway:

IMG_7771.thumb.JPG.24129537025d3669cf39059d956efb50.JPG

Starting to see some empty shelves:

IMG_7767.thumb.JPG.dece562930f408c1efe047d201d0c8c2.JPG

And the 20' container is starting to fill up with six loads taken there today, but still plenty of room for what we need to get in there:

Now going through the many, many unboxed magazines, the best way I've found of moving them around is to make a stack about 9-12" high and tie it with string. Much easier with two people and Master SL soon got into the swing of it. The LS400 is now sitting rather low with a load in it ready to drop off tomorrow morning on the way to work.

What great looking car. Is the drivers side rear, rear window normally in two parts on these?

On the early cars yes, both the rear side windows were two piece with the rearmost opening, after 1971 ish they became one piece and remained the same all the way to the end of 240 production in 1993.

More family road tripping in the Trans Sport this weekend… an eventful getaway to Lancashire!

4153A05F-1409-4410-9CD5-B2BD8B347904.jpeg

Motorway miles munched, Many hideous hours in traffic jams as well, I even slept in the back briefly, as but it coped superbly at every turn.

It’s an awesome thing… but I think the itch has been scratched now…

May have gotten a bit carried away to the tune of 150 miles...

These have slightly weird double split circuit brakes witch are a total mare to bleed, especially from an empty system. I did my best to get the air out but totallY failed on the first attempt. I think it needs to be pressure bled, I did have a GUNSONS EASY BLEED but I think I binned it after a brake fluid explosion while attempting to bleed the brakes on a Morris Oxford years ago. It’s a job for another day I think.

I am really not looking forward to doing this particular job on my 240 as I've drained the system and I hear it's a major pain.  I was going to get an easi bleed but now I'm not so sure, after hearing about the impromptu showers people are getting from the fluid tank.

We had a little bit of drama at a show yesterday, we had about 70 cars to park in our club area and this beautiful Lancia Fulvia was already parked there.

After a short while we turned round to find it down a the ditch behind, complete with the owners 92 year old wife still in the passenger seat!

We all rushed over and thankfully she was still OK if a little shaken up, it seems the elderly owner hadn't put the handbreak on and also hadn't put it in gear properly 🤦‍♂️

As a group we all managed to push the front down and support the back enough for the owner to drive it out the ditch, luckily it had a tow bar which took the brunt of a impact although the bumper was squashed and the lower rear quarter a little dented but all in all they got away lightly considering how deep the ditch was!

Yikes! We had vehicles reversing towards a ditch at the Social, and it caused me a few heart-stopping moments.

I went to a show on Whitstable sea front a few years ago, we were reversing up to the edge of a steep downwards drop towards the beach. Someone in our group did stumble of their camp chair and tumbled down a way, luckily no cars went that way!

I was gifted a couple of flimsy metal shelving units last weeks. Bolted the two together and much more stable.

I can arrange my tools and spares neatly. The old wooden shelf is dismantled (the bare pine) and will be sawn into lengths to prevent things falling off the back.

I really need to rehome that vintage till (cash register). It *was* working a few years ago but the master key has jammed in the ‘locked’ position.

Pre-MoT on the C2 next week, and a service on the Mini after that.

This Jag cost £400000 to build, the owner wanted a car with classic style and engine but with all the modern features of to drive it to Switzerland, it has a 6.1 V12 engine and everything was custom built. This is a odd one, the story is that the car started life as a D reg RS Turbo hatchback but very early in its life its was crashed and everything swapped over to a brand new Estate shell by Ford to make the only RS Turbo Estate and registered as so by the DVLA and put on the private plate.?.

Some of you might already know of this. I didn't and it amused me.

I was watching the Guy Martin electric Beetle program last night and he turned up at Santa Pod to try it out. Suffering from excessive wheelspin they decide to lay down some glue to aid adhesion. They have a special vehicle for this.

The badge made me laugh. I had to rewind it to make sure I'd seen what I thought I'd seen. It's very well done, I can't see a join.

E10 has been used in the states for ages, no issues. Can’t see it being a problem. MPGs… meh.

I’ve just always wanted to try one, and now I have… there are other things I want to try too.. can’t have them all at once!

Recently had the windscreen replaced on the F150 due to a stone chip that turned into a long crack. Of course, the fitters at the bodyshop put the wiper arms back on skewiff, pointing up the screen.  The thought of removing the arms filled me with dread, as it’s about a million degrees C and 237% humidity at the moment.

However further investigation reveals that F150 wiper arms simply lock onto a large, non-tapered spindle with a small clip and can be on and off in a matter of seconds. Job done in less than 2 minutes, with minimal sweaty bastard points accrued. RESULT.
