Indeed. I just enjoy the fact that there is now a delayed payment on the vehicle tax. One less sting at the point of sale. Until the first payment goes out. Which you've now forgotten about...

I got the reminder today - my tax is due at the end of the month, and I'll be chucking it on the 'set and forget' DD. Just need to remember to set aside £20 a month, no problem. Beats having to pull £130 out of my arse.

Thank you chaps. I didn't think it was right and an old wives tale, like eating crusts gives you curly hair.or French cars are pretty reliable in the main. I shall tax it online when I get v5.

I didn't know a caravan mover was a thing. What an excellent idea, thank you very much :-)

Apologies if teaching you to suck eggs here, but the m.o. for maneuvering a loaded twin axle trailer by hand is to wind the jockey wheel as high as it will go, so that the front wheels are off the ground. Makes it possible to steer, 'cause no tyre scrub.

Also, if you cancelled the tax then tried to re-tax it, it possibly wouldn't let you as it may expect the V5 number to change.

Cornwall achieved. Filled tank right up before I left, necked it on arrivalue, 18 litres to do 237 miles. That's just under 60mpg!

So, today's collection shenanigans was to travel up to Ludlow to get this.

Thanks to Catsinthewelder for posting it in the offered thread.

170 miles back to Devon covered without issue, the further south I went, the worse the weather got.

There was enough fuel to reach Bristol, and by then it was a monsoon (hence no pezz stn shot!).

What colour is the boathouse in Hereford?

If it's amateur night, I'll need two cars and a simulator.

Picked this up today. Only cost £60. 212k on the clock but it still pulls well. Does have a window made out of perspex but we'd all have ailments after that mileage right?!

Oh and the lovely AX went. Nice to meet you Colin.

That's lovely thing and that's a bargain!

Anyone noticed eBay & Gumtree is down?

It isn't? I've just been looking at DOHC VTEC engines - if the damn things weren't worth about 20% more than my entire car I'd be seriously tempted to make a Rover 216VTi automatic...

I'll give you first dibs! Think it needs new glow plugs mind you. Felt like getting back into an old pair of trousers with the ZX.

Only issue was that it was registered on disabled use, so had to panic and find a bloody post office in swindon, found one at 528. I'm not making this up...

First day as a scumbag IT contractor for a large London based bank.....

Police cordons and media circus around Borough Market is still very much real :(

I was paid £40 to sit and wait in the reception this morning because the idiot receptionist emailed rather than calling the person I am reporting to :D

Financial services compliance training is ridiculous :(

Quite sure this role is going to be lengthy and satisfying :)

I had someone come and look at the Cadillac tonight. Spend aaaaages looking at it then offered nearly half the asking price.

Good times, at least they turned up.

Yesterday afternoon I passed a grey Tatra 603 in oily rag condition going through Hagley. Does that description ring a bell with anyone, has/did Sam Glover of this parish own one?

There were several eastern European cars parked in a pub car park near me. I saw that Tatra too. Saw several of th em again later that day in Bridgnorth. A few Trabants and a lovely yellow and white Moskvitch amongst others

I think it was because of the SALT meet; they were convoying around that area and around Crich if memory serves.

What capacity is an R8 tank? I filled it from empty-ish (there's no light, and it took 35 litres) and after 300 miles it's back down to E. That's 39mpg, that can't be right, my foot is too heavy.

prolly 50 litres

as a badermatic the mpg is not that pleasant with the 1.6

I can say the ZX is indeed an absolute bargain-looked good and seemed to drive well (from a passenger point of view).

And the AX is great. Not had a car without electric windows, a rev counter, power steering, 5 speed gearbox or rear doors since 1982. Nor 50mpg from a pez car!

Most enjoyable-and good to meet Sam and be told of his upcoming purchase (which I wont tell anyone about).

Well, Inverness isn't happening because the van I'm meant to be picking up has been postponed yet another day so I have a car from Blairgowrie to Merseyside. Going home in that though. This is almost a reverse of the trip I ded tae Scotland a year agoo. Och aye.

I have insured gaybod the pug ,which I am collecting tomorrow from djimbob. Was going to wait and tax it tomorrow with the slip. However my lad tells me if I tax it online and set up a direct debit . They take money after 30 days. So he says you then cancel direct debit online after 28 days and then set up a new one. So car shows has taxed but you don't pay. Is this true or will MI5 come hammering my door down at 5 am.

I pay monthly. They take it out within usually 14 days and first payment is usually double. Never cancelled it before but I assume you still pay for the time taxed and declare a sorn.
