I gave the Movano a wash today - the first it's had in over a year of ownership.  It was getting quite green in places...  The pump-up yellow plastic jetwash thing did an adequate job, although the brush is a bit soft for some of the more ingrained dirt.  It took fugging ages (it's a big van) but it came out looking OK I think.  I also realised that I'd never taken a proper photo of it, so I grabbed a couple before the light went completely:

Definitely more respectable now.

Nice vans they are . I'm looking for a newer master to replace my Ducato . I know of a 3.0 that maybe for sale soon . Should go ok I would think

Paint the 'window' bit on the rear doors black, stick it on the side of a fast A-road and watch people slam on thier brakes thinking it's a scamera van.

Think the 3.0 is a Nissan engine as fitted to the Navara - it doesn't seem to have the best reputation, although I would imagine it would go fairly well.

It is, although the back's full of crap at the moment.  I really need to do a tip run.  Or give some stuff away.  Anyone want an LDV Maxus rear door in yellow, a scruffy Mk6 Transit minibus 3-seater bench seat or several boxes of assorted Rover 75 trim bits?

It was actually an almost TheShadow-esque bargain - I paid £100 for it in August last year, because the MOT was almost out and the engine was supposedly knackered.  The seller was actually quite surprised that I was going to attempt to drive it back from Luton.  It's since passed its MOT with little difficulty, and the engine hasn't gone bang yet...

Funnily enough it's actually better on diesel than the H100 despite being twice the size - taller gearing and a rather more modern engine probably help.

Deposit put down on a Volvo S90 yesterday, this means I'll be getting a 2005 Lexus RX as my daily and the Honda Accord Coupe will be up for sale raffle some time in the new year.

Bit of a pisser for my wife about the 4 month waiting list on the new car though, I don't really mind, lots more time for Vtec Yo in the Accord before it goes.

Where do I hand my shiter badge in?

When I saw the start of your post I thought you meant one of these.

That S90 would have been the wiser shiters choice, I guess.  At least that S90 has more than 4 cylinders...

I narrowly avoided an embarassing incident whilst out earlier. Trundling through the industrial estate, whilst approaching it, I did notice the big pick-up on the left, in the entrance to a unit waiting for the electric gate to open, I also noticed the shonky looking Fiesta stopped on the opposite side of the road as if waiting to turn behind the pick-up. It was only at the last moment I noticed the over-long tow rope connecting the two together. Fortunately I still had enough time to stop; the last time something similar happened I ended up with a horizontal take-off goat when I hadn't noticed his tethering chain was across the main road.

Don't hold your breath on that 4 months, a mate had one on order practically since launch for the 1st of October delivery- he's still driving a loan XC60.

I've yet to see one on the road, do they exist?

Washed the fleet today, which was mostly to give the XM it's first bath in my care. Didn't have time to polish the whole car but tested some autoglym SRP on the rear. Crap phone pic doesn't do it justice but I think the whole car will come up well.

The replacement water pipe is doing the trick, no leaks so I plan on taxing from the start of November and getting some miles on her.

Fairly productive afternoon buggering about with the Primera. I with no little trepidation removed the front bumper and the side skirts to reveal the front crossmember and sills both notorious Primera grot spots. Remarkably although certainly rusty in places I wasn't able to ram my screwdriver through anywhere despite the fact that behind the side skirts was enough soil for a small shrubbery. I have given the rusty areas a good wire brush and Vactan treatment which hopefully will keep things at bay.

In a further bit of good news I've managed to get the airbag light out after tinkering with the connectors on the rotary coupling; hopefully this is a permanent fix because I've peeled the duct tape off now which was stuck over the warning light...

I have left the side skirts off at least for now because I want to be able to clean the salt off the sills properly over winter. I might not bother put them back on. I'm also tempted to replace the damaged bumpers with a pair off the diesel in a local scrapyard I got the door and tailgate off (tailgate is now on). The 'cooking' bumpers are different but I haven't decided whether that bothers me particularly as its liable to be the cheapest and easiest solution.

I'd agree with Mr Boll, the Fiat 127 version has a prominent round or 4 stripe Fiat badge on the grille where the Seat Fura does not, instead having just a single square offset badge.  I wouldn't know there as such a thing as a Seat Fura if Mr Boll hadn't said.

Sooooooooooo,last week this occurred

After the main removals guy ended up costing us a 24hr delay,we shipped out on the trip over to Bulgaria

Made decent progress down to the channel, with a few distractions on the way

France came and went in a blur overnight,Belgium was despatched quickly as was a quick visit to the Netherlands

Germany was as tidy and efficient as you'd expect,Austria has similar vibes although we managed to cross the Austrian/Hungarian border without using a border control, and then confused the feck out of the Austrians when we turned around and went back to sort out the crossing/vignette....

They just couldn't figure out how we'd crossed with no trouble....ah well

Hungary was a lot nicer than we were expecting, and the new motorways made for a good average speed.Spent a night in a small Pension (b&B) rather than in the van as before

As we approached the Hungarian/Romanian border and started to pass the trucks waiting to go through whilst still 15 miles from the border,we took the "old" road to the border crossing and managed to skip past a fair bit of aggro it seems...

A number of border agency staff were sacked for fraud not too long ago,but not yet replaced.....

As we didn't want to spend a night in Romania we pushed on to Bulgaria as quickly as possible.

Not many places will let us take the dogs in the room,or have secure parking so we got over the border at stupid o'clock, and got to a hotel on the Danube.

I have a real fancy for another mgf.

I'm getting a massive urge for either a Smart fortwo or a Smart Roadster...

They do seem to hold their values pretty well though. Also I know my wife will really say a big no to having 4 cars. :(

Hopefully in January, when everyone is poor after Xmas and the weather is crap/snowing, a light 2 seater RWD convertible will become much cheaper!

Neutral progress on the Datsun 1200 this weekend. Successfully got the recored radiator back onto it, after I had to drill out the old fixing bolts which had all sheared-off in the captive nuts. Got up to temperature fine, didn't go higher than it should and I can't see any leaks.

But, the thing still isn't running right - even once warmed-up it won't run happily without some choke. And every time I work on something different on it I see more rust. No point sorting it now as I'm unlikely to use it over winter, just a shame that's another year gone where I haven't used it much at all.

I went to see the mk2 panda 4x4 in the garage yesterday.  It's had the engine swap and many, many, associated components have been changed or upgraded.  The replacement brakes I supplied seized on testing and recon calipers are being sort so I didn't get to drive it.  Mind you half the interior was missing so would have been difficult.

Had to make some decisions as to where to put extra switches for rewired lights and for now the bull bars are going to be left of the car.  Stupidly I didn't take any pictures, here's some from the archive.
