How do you keep happening upon so many awesome finds?

It was on ebay, I was outbid by £3 then the winner went quiet, turns out after searching the winners username he has a track record for bidding on cars then not turning up for them. I got a second chance from the seller and he said I could have it for £110. I was bidding on it around 3 weeks ago at around the same time I was hoping to win a Seat Toledo for £50, I got outbid on that by a pound...

Now just over a week after pay day, my bank balance isn't looking to good and I'm offered this 305, I'm definitely having it but I'm going to try selling the 309 to raise some cash.

Just booked my yearly holiday as the French 2cv meeting was too far away again. I've Had one of those days where only the hope of time off will help! Thought I'd better arrange it before the car goes to the body shop to be painted so I don't get new foreign stone chips. Also I needed to consider the "service perturbe" situation crossing the channel, so it's daylight crossings on the tunnel. On the plus side, money saving expert website brought up travel insurance for £7.44!

Sold the Rolls today so time to find something else to play with. I had been searching for Corvairs but it seems Americans are even harder to deal with than the French. Now waiting for some more info on a very rare Renault so it could be road trip time next week

It's a 3.0l v6 Mitsubishi Sigma estate and it looks like a manual. I sold the 309 earlier so after I buy the 305 estate tomorrow I will have some spare cash left over.

That does look lovely! And I'm sure a certain bearded gentleman would make a keen buyer should you need to pass it on in the future?

Sigma is going to need welding by the sound of it. That may make a caper a stretch too far.

As RWelfare of this parish experienced with his, those Mitsubishis do also suffer HGF.

News on my own fleet is all cooling related. The 1200 was running hotter each time I used it and when I touched the radiator it felt like only a third of it was getting properly hot. It's been sent away for a recore, so fingers crossed that's all it is. Drained it of some rather filthy, brown looking liquid, just hoping I don't discover HGF on that when I get the radiator refitted.

Then, having used it for work on Thursday, the Laurel decided to spew most of its coolant out and send the needle to the top of the gauge. Not sure yet what the problem is there, when I refilled it there was no immediately obvious leak - investigation required. Again, just hoping no further issues caused.

Yes, I had a Sigma just like that ten years ago. It was an auto. It had already received a new head gasket but I think either the water pump or radiator were the root cause and they hadn't been changed. The previous owner had the head gasket done on the cheap, there was red sealant everywhere in the engine bay, a right messy job.

I wasn't bothered because I only bought it as a stopgap for three months. It was cheap. When it wasn't needing the coolant topping up (it's party trick was to shoot steam out of the front grille when stationary after a fast run), it drove really nicely with a surprising turn of speed. If desired, it would smoke the front tyres like the Vatican choosing a new Pope.

That's lovely, but how long has it been sitting in that long grass?

Whats the Intel on the Sigma

I think FOAD is hoping to get a proper look at it soon, so it'll be up in that there Scotland somewhere. I think I'm oot. Would have been an ace collection caper, but welding adds complication to that.
