Oh please, I love a good pole pic, and yours is bigger than mine (Ridge Hill)

Bornite, what is it that makes SH a wonder if I might be so stupid? Is it the height?

If so, is Mendlesham Trasmitting Station also notable due to its 1002ft height? its a couple of miles up the road from where I grew up and always interested me (I was a bit of a loser growing up!)

Great pic of the Volvo btw!

There's just something special about Sandy. I think it's the heritage of the TV... plus Chiltern Radio being remembered so fondly.

Mendlesham isn't far from my old home. Happy days.

The actual complex is also quite something. It's like a nuclear bunker from the cold war era. I've been fortunate enough to have a proper tour around and it's special..

I had a fuck off headache after an hour though !!

ORLY? I knew there were some buildings around the base, and that it rested on a giant metal sphere at the base to allow it to move about like a hip joint, is there lots underground?

I'm into my last week with the borrowed XJS. Fuel computer says 24mpg (since I collected it). Fuel tank calculations say 26mpg! Wow. If I'd laid off the sport button a bit, I might have been able to nudge it up to the same 30mpg as the RAV. The RAV has half the engine size...

Was hoping to take the Jaaaag up Shelsley Walsh today, but the timings all went to cock. I did get a passenger ride up the hill in an F-Type V6. WOW. I'm not sure what the point of the V8 is.

Tomorrow, I'm off to drive a 2CV race car. On the road. I assumed the owner had used it a fair bit on the road, but it turns out he's only used it to drive to the MOT station and back. This is going to be interesting...

Electro Hydraulic Actuator apparently. It seem the injection unit has different pressures for upper and lower sections, this controls it. I think it needs fairly specialist gear to set properly so I used the blind guess method. It needs the fuel mix reset after adjustment.

Ta, hadn't heard of them.

Have I just spotted a Quantum H4 on Youtube?

One hour fifteen in and she's not spoken a word to me yet. That may be an option.

Following an intense period of haggling (we made a ludicrously low offer, which was accepted) I am now the proud owner of this lovely vehicle......oh and the property it sits on too, which pleases the wife no endee827d27bd62c0080e10df1febcfd993.jpg

I'll find out this afternoon. It main reason for purchase is that I'm scrapping four Volvos at the minute and had taken the council estate off for a quick overhaul, 'cos I've sold the 406 saloon I thought a nice 850 would have been a decent backup with a return at the end. She doesn't think so. TBH I wouldn't have done it if she didn't turn her nose up at my works Astravan.

80QUID CASH 2NITE M8?

Well, the 820i SE has finally been restarted, apparently this was down to an immobiliser problem. Now just for the MOT and hopefully a sale. Need cash for Turkey trip.

Mr Sterling sir I am reporting you to the RSPCA. Actually saving money to buy some acid for your pet turkey is very cruel.

Your life sounds like mine cms, but with hoovers not cars...

She will suddenly say she was fine with it all when she sees money coming out of it...

i had to go to the bank yesterday to withdraw cash to pay my friendly mechanic for the audi's mot (the usual bushes/boots/brake pipes stuff)

Another Zafira update.

Am planning to book the M.o.T in next week - will be ordering a new battery for it in the next few days - eBay are doing one for £32 with free postage at the moment.

Went to the scrappys and bought a load of stuff it needed.

Much better now. I picked up the trimz off an Astra H '04 plate for a bargain £5! I also got a set of correct size front wipers, an aerial, a DIN cage and a couple of other odds and sods for another fiver.

Looking more presentable now. The mileage bulb I replaced is duff too so out with the dashboard again soon. Sigh.

Whilst I was at the scrappys, I found this sticker in the back window of a Zafira, I guess these would have been added at the dealership?

I'm back after several months of self-imposed exile. So many interesting posts to catch up with since I've been away, but so little time to catch up with them!

Looks bloody tidy for a cheap car that Zafira - I guess it helps your case when there's so many shit ones around

Indeed - at the end of the day it's a £150 snotter which will need a couple of hundred spent on it AFAIK. It'll still be a cheap one when it's finished so I think it was a good idea buying it. Just hope that I can get the emissions sorted - it failed on high CO, that points to a knackered cat as its letting too much unburnt fuel through. I gave it a good rev and there was a bit of black/grey smoke out of the exhaust - not a huge amount mind. It did smell quite petrol-ly too.

Perfect excuse to go out and buy a Peterbilt or Scammell is that.

Why do I never see bargains like that? I have been on the lookout for a cheap CB for years at car boots and seen nothing. You just need a big hippy aerial now and you are sorted.
