Gave the Astro some love today, changing the plugs on these is a right laugh *.. take passengers wheel off to get those 3, the lie on your back underneath with a load of 3/8 wobbly bits and some fuel hose to get the drivers 3. Old plugs were a perfect colour but well overdue! To get to the rotor arm and cap, the whole centre dash has to come out..20230729_151604.thumb.jpg.08d02489dfeeafe760a9458c452000be.jpg20230930_145508.thumb.jpg.e1c308ecf19efc6920f34a71e6ab2b45.jpg

i should really say, i set it up, handed it to BiL whose willing to follow the instruction, and FiL whom keeps insisting its the pedal spring, and kept going on about pumping the clutch pedal when all it was doing was pushing fluid through.

but the missus said it still felt resistance ..ie pushing  the fluid then it goes limp (story of my life..lol) and i said as id hydraulic failing... but the FiL still wittling on about  the dam pedal spring...

Getting a bit more time to do my own stuff recently. Except I've had a rancid cold last week that developed into a chest infection. Completely buggered all my plans on doing stuff in the garage as felt shite and doing metalwork with dodgy lungs isn't a great idea.

Anyway it's getting better now so this evening I spent a few hours tidying up.
While I was there, I couldn't resist putting the panels in place to check how things looked. Now in hindsight I probably should have done this before finishing the a-post. Including putting the wing on to check alignment. Haven't done the wing but at least the door seems to fit roughly right.

Hopefully won't be too far out with the wing on. If it's a little out then I'll just say it's just the typical BMC build quality of the time.

Anyway I need to get the back wing area repaired next (under that large panel) and start cracking on to try getting it done for next summer at least...

I'm certainly no speedy Gingernutz.

Ampera on the Hardknott.

Taken from the Roman fort.

Careful on the edges of the roads. I destroyed a 3 week old rainsport by gashing the sidewall with a rock at the side of the road.  on the 1 in 5 section. In the Rain, as it was going dark. With a locking wheel nut put on by a gorilla swinging on a 3 metre bar (I think)

Have I got any chance of getting number plates made on a Sunday?

Eurocarparts or Halfords?

Can you get by with a sticky numbers/backing plate job (if they still sell them?)

I'll try euro wankers. If not there's no rush.

@AnnoyingPentiumfell off the side of a road in Wales too at shitefest. Knew it was always safer staying at the field being mildly drunk admiring the Chod every year in the peace and quiet👌

Ah bollocks. The sight of a slightly buggered waterpump on my wife's Panda.

Edit: I would have added the video but it's MP4 and my simple brain doesn't know how to convert into an acceptable format for the forum Screenshot_2023-10-01-17-07-22-961_com.miui.videoplayer.jpg

It must be a highly trained job.

Looking through the window in the front door this morning, I am starting to warm to this. It was never meant to be my driver but its actually very comfortable, although sitting right over the back axle can make it a bit harsh over speedbumps. It's also very quick and you can really feel the supercharger kick in at about 3000 rpm. It's quite easy to break traction too.

Were you giving your wife a shot of this in Larbert a short time ago? I clocked the T plate but I think it was on original wheels.

Unfortunately she is unable to drive it as her feet can't reach the pedals so it wouldnt have been her. Interesting that there's another almost identical car very near me though!

Quite a coincidence. I hadn’t seen it before locally. My car was showing 17 degrees and it was very sunny, they were enjoying it with the roof down.

Just done one of these, 50 odd quid for the kit and probably one of the easiest timing belts/ pumps to do. Changing the alternator was far worse!

It does look fairly easy, but I have never done a cambelt....ever. I don't think I would trust myself. I can do most simple things on a car but this is a big step up for me and if I got it wrong I think my shoulder would be very cold for a very long time as it's Mrs Bergs car. Got a mobile mechanic coming round on Thursday to sort it as my usual garage can't get it in for a couple of weeks.

I thought Leviticus had all the “though shalt nots”.

I think the Saab 9000 must have hit classic status…

Usually I can take it to shows or run around in it and it’s roundly ignored. But lately people want to talk about it in car parks, several of my new colleagues have been interested in it, at shows I’ve been told it’s the most unusual thing there, and today a café proprietor hosting a classic car morning bustled past us as we entered saying (along the lines of) “I’ll be back to serve you shortly, but I need to go and take a photo of that Saab”

I mean, all that attention and the headlight wipers don’t even sit straight!

Do they move? The ones on my merc didn’t when I got it, so took one apart, cleaned and oiled everything snd plugged it back in. Then it didn’t stop bloody moving or spraying screenwash. So I pulled the plug and set the arms to a reasonable park position and passed the problem to @Six-cylinder 9 years later.

I managed to get the headlight wipers on my second volvo working perfectly, then a big fucker of a deer jumped into its path and it fucked the passenger side one. It fucked the headlight too, but at least I had a spare for that! The other two I've had had had them totally removed.
