Had a full engine carbon clean today. Can thoroughly recommend it. I know there’s some sceptics however it had made a noticeable difference. Low down acceleration is smoother and a lot sharper than before.

That deserves a 'yes it passed' and a sad face emoji at the same time.

Keep the 205 and sell the ungrateful bastard to me.

Not to piss on your chips but even the people that do it laugh about how it doesn't make a jot of difference. You'll notice that it's almost exclusively offered by cheapish one-man-band remappers? Well from my understanding, years ago some guy bought a bizarre looking "HHO generator" machine from China and started hooking it up to peoples cars to make him look busy when he was waiting half an hour for the teenage lad in lithuania to email him back the modified map files. He made up a story that it was to decarbonise the engine, but initially the machines were never designed to do anything of the sort (they were supposed to be left permanently attached as part of some tinfoil hat perpetual motion / "run your car on water" scam)

Anyway it seems to have caught on, it's an easy way for a guy to earn another £30 while they're already on your driveway and because most of the time it's done just before a remap, it's impossible for anyone to do a proper like for like comparison of it's results.

It's like when they sell you "fuel system cleaner" when the car goes in for a service at the main dealers. Doesn't do anything, but it "technically" could, and it's impossible to prove either way.

True it is hard to quantify the difference with actual figures.

It’s something I wanted to try and in all honesty I’m satisfied, only a few quid anyway, not like it was mega expensive.

Shit man. Gives me flashbacks to when my BX's throttle stuck open. How did you stop the runaway so quickly?

5th and chugged to a stop, had a fair bit of go for being at like 100rpm.

Gosh, that actually made me say ‘Jesus wept’.

Recently at the good ladies place of work they were doing an air path test on a 4.4 diesel V8 Range Rover. Engine ran on its own oil and went boom. Fortunately as they’re an accredited Land Rover specialist, and were following the fault finding process, it will go under warranty. For a £30,000 engine…

@mat_the_cat were you on the A1M yesterday about 9.30pm ? Spotted a green and white LT going North. I doubt there's another one.

Taken the kids to Beaconsfield to an inflatable park. Coming off the m40 there's some traffic

Poor bloke in a 307 is sat in l1, steam coming from the engine, smell of utter overheated death filling the air!

Don't think the kids have smelt violent hgf before! Struck me as the owner and car that's not seen a drop of maintenance for a long time though so perhaps is own fault a bit

My van now identifies as a BMW. Transitioned from a Ford. I've still got a Ovlov and a Merc, truck, badge .

As a BMW driver I will, of course, act like one.

But you've got indicators, proper orange ones as well.

As an estate at least , I reckon the Vectra C is brilliant. Nice colour too.

It's the only estate I have seen finished in digital green. It averaged 53 mpg from Warrington to Dawlish - that was loaded and with a roof box. The auto makes it easy to drive but it is a bit of a slug.

It still looks well but sadly it is starting to show it's age.

Are those rear lights standard? I don't think I've ever noticed them going that far into the side before.

I got up early today after a night shift to pick up some Volvo 140 wheels that I don’t really need from Stockport. The seller had a box of 140 parts that I also purchased, luckily the box had a pair of front indicator lenses that I was desperate for but it also contained a load of stuff I don’t need. Anything you’re after for the 164, @wuvvum

On the way back I dropped into ATS at Macclesfield where the bored looking lad working there told me Laguna's aircon had a leak and was borked, commenting that someone had tried to paint the aircon button black. Never mind, even if it did gas up ok I recon it would’ve all leaked out by the time I next had opportunity to use it next year. Hopefully the Groupon voucher can be used on the wife’s Jazz instead.

I also had an ATS aircon service today for the E class, it was working perfectly but hey ho Groupon deal and all that, they removed 736g and refilled 950g so the gas was a little low and I figured it couldn't do any harm for it to have a recharge and oil topup.

As it was the first run I've had in weeks where the engine got properly warm I tackled the glow plugs (I was put off after reading @Snake Charmer 's woes) but fortunately they all came out fairly easily, the warning light has disappeared and all is good.

It's providing sterling service and I can't see any reason to change it anytime soon.

I'm hoping to slather it in dymax or bilt Hamber underneath as the winters are harsh up here, hopefully I'll summon up the energy to do it before the salt goes down!
