The new news 24 thread

I thought there was a thread for this sort of thing, but I can't find it; this popped up on my faecesbook feed. I've censored the number to foil the evil bots spamming the man with calls about his computer being slow, non-faecesbook users pm me.

Ron's Classic Repairs, Sevenoaks, England

I am a one man band with fifty years experience who has had enough of throw away and plug in repairs. Last year I decided to change course and get back to something that I can enjoy. Estimates and advice are always free everything else is negotiable. [phone number]. I always return missed calls! Ron

New tyres on the Mondeo. The correct rims were in the garage and filthy with brake dust. Took them down and garage stuck the tyres on, then I swapped them with the existing escort rims that were on it using their ramp because sod doing that outside on the street in a thunderstorm.

Then went round the block before parking up outside the flat. Looking outside, the rims look much cleaner just for a drive around in torrential rain!

Just to keep the balance of broken things equal, the radio is now dead. Very rapid, so hopefully just a fuse.

Fuse seemed fine, but as I reached over I noticed the removable fascia buttons slightly awray. Clicked back into position, and all is good now. Modern cars eh.

Been and collected a engine this afternoon for my broken Fiat, using the other working Fiat.

Weather was pretty dire though on the M'way and A roads with the Rain, floods etc, but the Stilo did it without complaint. I had removed the boot carpet first, then cut down a manky piece of ply board to protect the boot floor etc.

So now I just have to hope this 48k engine gets the Punto back up to 100%.

That Stilo looks nice.  I'd happily have another Stilo as a daily - preferably a wagon, would have to be a JTD with cruise control mind.

Argggghhhhhh feck

£160 plus going to need to lock the crank and pulleys. Basically quite a bit of a cambelt job.

That's shite luck that it needs a pulley but thank fuck you found it in the comfort of your own garage while the rest of the engine is still in one piece. For sure things could be a lot better than they are but by heck it could have turned out much much worse.

Thank's. It came up locally on eBay last year, when I was looking out for a cheap estate. It had been knocked about by the previous owner, but as it was low miles and under £300 with a long Mot. I decided to chance it and it hasn't disappointed. Just been tidying it up as I go along.

Although I agree if I brought another, a JTD would be my engine of choice. The 1.6 pez seam's capable enough in all fairness, but it's lack of a 6th gear hurts the mpg at Motorway speeds.

As models or real cars?

You saw a real car at the FoD and I have a model on my shelf.

Mot tester wasn't available today, but I took the opportunity to have a nosey underneath on their ramps. Hmm, the sills are a little crusty... But fingers crossed will be alright. Also discovered a missing nut and reflected on how much easier many jobs are with a ramp rather than on your back under axle stands...

ABORTED COLEKSHUN FRED:

I've not done a "real" thread as it's a bit modern (2005), and maybe not quite shite enough, and technically @Nev should be doing it. Good job, as the fucking cockwhistle isn't answering the phone and the ad has disappeared off eBay. Still, glad we didn't get to Sheffield before checking.

It's a replacement for the Scoob Impreza StiWRXWTFBBQ.

It's got 225 horses, front wheel drive.

Any guesses?

There's one in Reading, leaving in half an hour.

Audi TT?

Edit 225 would be 4wd

How about Volvo early T5

2nd edit later T5 were more that 225bhp

How about Seat Leon 1.8 20v Cupra R?

or Renault Megan's sport 225bhp
