Back home after a weekend in London. Mingebag spec hotel in Hounslow, asian cash & carry shopping, 40th birthday bash in an expensive hotel in Richmond with £2500 put behind the bar in advance by hosting couple, Sunday in Pickledwilly Surplus at the Comedy Store for an improv night (bit like Whose line is it anyway?) with Paul Merton, Richard Vranch, Neil Mullarky and 3 others, smoked out by a spliff smoking moron on the tube, 3 Wetherspoons breakfasts and 2 Wetherspoons dinners, charity shop shopping in Farnborough on way home this afternoon which resulted in this quality £4 purchase for either the shed or garage.

I'm now quite knackered, and looking forward to a nice cup of tea and the spag Bol I've got brewing on the stove

What car is Morrissey sitting on?

I don't know - but is that from his trip to the States a couple of years before the Smiths?

Just had a call from the ac guy to basically warn me about the bill for the work.

17.5 hours at £45, but he’s doing this as £35 and halving the hours. You work it out still!

£160 for the spark erosion of the stud

£25 gasket from Mercedes and £10 bolts,

plus the ac compressor.

original quote was £620, so basically it’s well over £1000. Hey ho.

Very true. I’m glad it’s working. Last week I was ready to drop a match in the tank, hence my borrowing sixcyl’s xm.

Wife reported a lot of belt screechy this morning so popped out in the dark and just put a few turns on the absurdly accessible alternator adjuster on the Mazda.

I’d been out, fixed and back in before the kettle I’d put on for a cuppa had even finished boiling.

Wife and I have decided that as today is our actual wedding anniversary and we've celebrated already over the weekend, we're going to tidy the shed.

Romance never dies.

First MOT passed and the bike shop I took it to had something very interesting for sale. After that, a trip to the river...

and after that I went for a blast to another bike shop who had this outside. Not sure about the wheels, but the rest was ace...

Like the scooter Billy, not so much the other one!

I have been to Halfords. I have spent money (so this should be in the grumpy thread) but I have bought a new seat belt for Chester which clips in the normal seat belt thingy, the old one was a right faff to get him into and was easily adjustable this one is. Secondary bonus: I don't have to have the proper seatbelt clipped in to stop it flashing lights and setting alarms off - seriously, never heard such a consistant racket in my life and NEVER shuts up!

Also bought a dog friendly air freshener, I doubt muchly it will conceal the pong of my two when they have been in the mud and cack but we can only try!

In today's messing with vectra day. Managed to get the bonnet to a passable level. Fitted some genuine Chinese branded mudflaps. Will have to strip the n side wing and do it properly.fail to prepare,  prepare to fail has they say. Didn't see the sanding Mark's till I painted it. Well it's all about learning.

Tea with a difference this evening. It will go well with my curry.

I'm not sure if I'm making it the correct way, but it tastes pretty good and not too far off the masala chai the Indian couple who ran a Nisa store in Northfleet used to make me on a Monday morning when I popped in there to grab my lunch.

My 84 year old mother-in-law asked me to find her some alloys,as she hates having cable ties holding on the hubcaps.So:-

That bonnet looks great from here. Good job! I still have one or two bits from my old Vectra, spare wheel with tyre that has only covered a few hundered miles (but its 10 years old!),  set of 4 placca LS trims and some dash switches. Unlikely to be of any use but theyre here FOC if you happen to need them!

MOT achieved on a long standing family Citroen C1 today. Had to get the hazards working and I have some advisories to sort but nothing serious.

Its now up for sale and will provide sterling service for someone, have a pic;

Thank you mr split pin. I am ok for stuff though. I have a spare trim and spare is new to be fair. The bonnet is not too bad, looks ok from 10 ft. But I am learning that paint wont cover up bad prep. Who knew!

The £140 Fiesta has gone in for an MOT today. I'm not expecting it to pass but hopefully there won't be too much that needs doing.

Decent stuff that, not as good as Lipton Moroccan spiced but a lot cheaper snd easier to find.

So a mini collection post here, as its a small vehicle, Paj Jnr need a few bits and I knew where they could be found.

Off i go on the highway, about a ten min drive

Then 4 wheels are two too many so we need leg powaaaaaaa,

Nice day for it all the same

About 30 mins later, whats that in the distance?

20190908_095300.thumb.png.0af67c71309d4d0b3efb169a34c14076.png

its only another Paj Jnr. The fact it made it this far is quite a testament to its capabilities really.

Its been beached for a while and fairly stripped but now there were still a few bits i could harvest. This air hose was one, mine was all split up. My thermometer is not reading and the hot cabin air flow is good, so i got that too, yet to fit it. Grabbed a few other bits and pieces. Really wanted a tailgate door card but it was gone. However a guy about 15 miles from me on my route to work is breaking one and hes got it lest. Will see what else he has.

20190915_133328.jpg.755ba609f7d8d6396bc84da8e0462a5c.jpg

I am testing it tomorrow and to be honest of the stuff i can work on, there didnt seem much to do. There was a rattle from the  from left that i presumed was droplinks or some suspension item. So jacked it up and looked around but nothing obvious. it turned out that that front skit pan/sump guard thing has a bolt in each corner and two were sheered off.

So out with the drill and got thru the two of them and tapped new threads in them. also a little rubber washer on the underside to dampen any shock out of it. Didnt want to pull too hard on the new threads.

20190918_113219.thumb.jpg.30d308207f3b64740644fceb2648eba6.jpg

Tailgate was not opening, i also harvested a door handle for it from the doner up in the hills but it was not required. Just fixed the bar thing back into its place.

20190915_163827.thumb.png.c9321c8c3ee76dc31148d4f477796f82.png

Was able to get to the brake light and replace a bulb.

Thats pretty much all i can do with it. It has a test in the morning so we will see. Its got what i would consider a significant oil leak. going on so not sure will that count against it.

I ordered a continuation service book for the merc from a chap on eBay (where does he get all these service books from?) and it arrived in double quick time yesterday morning. Sadly it was for a MINI. I messaged him through eBay (but what the hell is the matter with their 'contact seller' message thng?) and he apologised and said he'd send a prper one straight out. He certainly did as it arrived this morning. I have left him excellent feedback :)

Out in the vectra today and check engine light came on. Got home and looked under bonnet , at what I do not know. Give things a push and a wiggle. It's now gone off andits not coming on again.  Either I am a genius or it's just being a vauxhall.

Heater blower doesn't work on the T25. They're only about £35 though, or something like that. Not so bad, hey? Actually YES IT FUCKING WELL IS because it seems you have to take the entire dash board off/out to change it. Also, 'because VW' the twatting battery has decided to keep flattening itself the last few days, and changing to a known good one possibly isn't any different.

My neighbour asked for first refusal if I decided to sell it, will be knocking her door down soon if it carries on like this.

The CV boot and tyres were mentioned as advisories on last year's MOT so I knew they'd probably need doing although I didn't realise the front tyre was so bad. Overall not as bad as I thought it might be and no mention of corrosion which was a pleasant surprise considering the rather crusty rear arches. I will be getting it sorted as I enjoy driving it and I'd like a chance to get a couple of  pictures of it with my brother's Fiesta.
