How did you discover Autoshite?

So I've been thinking quite a bit about Autoshite today as it is the tenth anniversary of me joining this hallowed forum.  I was the 190th member; we are now up to nearly 21,000, although a significant proportion of those are / were spambots.

So it occurred to me that there must be quite a wide variety of ways that people have found their way here.  For me personally it was via Mouseflakes of this parish, who sent me a message through eBay (back in the halcyon days when you could see bidders' full user names) after he spotted that I was bidding on a lot of the cars that were appearing in the eBay Tat thread.  I accepted his kind invitation to come and have a look round, liked what I saw, and they've never managed to get rid of me since.

So how did you get here?

Mr bollox's tat resto thread on retro rides was a gateway drug that ended up with me coming over here for a look. My life in general would probably have been more productive if I hadn't.

Think I joined when it had other gallery pages full of Renault 17s and the like.  Has come a long way since then.

Regie Ritmo pointed me.

So long ago, few here will even remember him!

I saw a comment by Sam Glover in craptical plastics and came to have a look.

Found in craptical plastics by Sam Glover selling something, I think the home page was orange with a Rena 17 maybe.

Trigger recruited me about 7 years ago.

Interestingly...... I've never met trigger despite the fact we live about ten miles apart and attend the same shows

I saw autoshite mentioned in a car website or forum pages somewhere, I cant remember where.

I had a look out of curiosity and read through pages of posts, laughed at the just scrap it thread.

I think the link or first post I read on autoshite was about buying and collecting a red BX diesel estate with plenty of mileage and not a lot of window demisting.

It used to be mentioned in every issue of Practical Classics in the Rust In Peace section.

I think it took at least 18 months for me to gain membership, which was eventually facilitated by Fred Transit's 'emergency' forum.

I think it was O2man on the Practical Classics forum recommended it. I signed up and forgot about it for a year or so.

You can blame Skattrd for my membership, he's my brother and we share a love of old chod, so he dragged me over here. Don't know how he found the place though, probably from the blue.

I think it was a mention on BarryBoys...It was a few years ago.

I was a bit of a lurker on the blue, heard the odd whisper of "the beige" like some sort of secret militant wing, eventually found out what it was and joined.

April 2009 was my joining date but I'd lurked here for a little while before.

I sold a car (white/rust coloured 79 Volvo 244) on the Volvo OC forum to Torsten after he promised me it wouldn't end up on the banger track if he could have it.

Anyway, he came to collect it and when I picked him up from the local train station in my old Volvo 740 we got chatting and he mentioned this place.

He took the car and I came here for a look and been here ever since! It's the best old car forum going!

Retro rides for me.

I only really use that for the tech section and the for sale now as its too fussy and too keen to say how "everything has potential" and to matte black and cut springs hence wrecking perfectly good cars.

To me a lot of stuff on there only has potential to be cubed.

I think somehow found the ebay tat thread from a google search. The residents seemed like a bunch of interesting people so I joined up.

I think I was pissed one night looking for something, anything written on the web about Lonsdale yd41s. Found Autoshite.

And another groomed by Mr_B I think, I read about his Rover 220 adventures over on the blue forum, I now own the bloody thing  :-D

Was sent threatening letters telling me to join or my dog would go missing

Lurked for ages but then properly signed up when AROnline ceased to be worth bothering with.

Think I stumbled across it originally by googling something obscurely chod-related and the forum popping up in the results.

Followed up a mention in Autosport's nostalgia thread. Resisted joining for a bit because I knew once inside I would never escape.

Was trying to remember where I found out about "the beige" - that was it! I lurked for a bit, liked what I saw, signed up and it was all downhill from there...

I was a fan of XBollox's tales on Readers Rides over on the Retro Rides Forum.  Someone said 'he's on Laguna's over on Autoshite, so I had a look.  Been here ever since.

No fackin idea tbh, all I know is I have mair shite than I used to, and a most unbecoming attraction to fatally flawed French stuff noo.

That and a top bunch of virtual (and some actual), mates.

I believe it may have been via a link that Breadvan (remember him?) Put up on Pistonheads..
