Black Country - "cruising free zone"

I never did understand why I was stood on the engine looking like I was beckoning the greater good. Also I have just realised that Saxo had Nissan trims.

That's OK, Daz - your Xant has Merc trims...  :)

I watched a film about cruising.

Almost impossible to masturbate to.

I was down in Cannock last Thursday and clocked the no cruising signage and thought it a little strange.

I'd like to see them try shutting down the Leeds hotrod cruise, seems like an awful waste of resources to move a load of middle aged blokes and there expensive cars on from a public place. Also wouldn't anybody leaving then be driving in convoy? A grey area I'm sure you'll agree.

I occasionally turn up to a meet in a layby on Sat mornings near here - at the end a lot of us drive in convoy through Loughborough. Fortunately there are no dickheads so we haven't been banned.

Posted

Unless you're in a brace of dubbermongs or Corsa VXRs, who's to know if you're driving in convoy?

Don't usually agree with Junkman's libertarian leanings but in this case I think he has a point.   It is a slippery slope to pass catch-all legislation, look at the US patriot act, passed as a knee-jerk reaction to 9/11 and used to justify all kinds of government overreach.

Evidently I'm very much on the Junkman wing of AS on this. Trouble is, if we don't watch it everyone ends up suffering for the actions of a few idiots because politicos would rather ban everything than deal with the actual offenders.

Driving in convoy at 2PM = fine

Driving in convoy at 3PM = nuns and kittens watch out

Driving a Convoy at any time = miserable.

Cruising to me would mean driving along sunglasses on, arm out of window and playing some fly tunes (something along the lines of Corey Hart), using all 9 watts of the Harry Moss tape deck.

I see a theme occurring.

I thought this thread was going to be about "kerb-crawling".

I have my motoring verbs muddled.

How do they prove you're in a convoy? If I say 'I'm not with the Rover P6, Volvo estates and various PSA cars of dodgy provenance, they just happen to be the cars in front, sir' and the other convoyists likewise say that themselves, what can the authorities really do?

People need to learn to deny all that which cannot be proven.

Defining cruising may be easy, but it will be more difficult to decide exactly where the Black Country is. Even wikipedia has got its knickers in a twist on the matter:

The first case should be interesting with experts on geology, dialect and local government arguing the toss over whether the alleged offence actually took place in the Black Country or not ;)

I watched a film about cruising. American Men kept lobbing their Cocks out and there wasn't any terrible cars on show at all.

I had to turn it off in the end.

Almost impossible to masturbate to.

Almost but not Totally ?

The people who make these stickers are going to go out of business. Poor bastards.

Sorry to be a party pooper but the judges have thought of that: it's the boroughs of Wolverhampton, Sandwell, Dudley and Walsall.

I thought there was a lack of ''Viking'' cruise ships about, almost hit one of the buggers as it was attempting to berth at a curry house by me, damn thing blocked 3 streets and laid anchor on a perfectly good carehome

A perfect example of how the law will be used selectively. When the police turn up at the Leeds hot rod meet it's just to have a look at the cars, talk to people, put the flashing lights on for the kids etc, whereas their presence at other cruises in the area usually signifies the swift end of the event. The only real difference is the age of hell the attendees but the perceived criminality of those there by the police is night and day

as this is aimed at chavved up corsa sand civics and the like then I guess the fact that you are in car 12 out of 100 with cut springs, pink alloys, stupid crap blocking your vision and a stereo that can be heard in Brazil then I doubt it will be too hard for them.

But I agree that it's overkill, they tried the same with us bikers at The Watermans years ago but MAG challenged it and got it overruled. As said above there are plenty of laws already, just use them.

"Don't worry, it isn't aimed at you" tends to morph into

Police: Why are you doing that? You know it's illegal.

Driver: But you said the law isn't aimed at me.

Police: So you think you're above the law?

Bang on.

It means nothing else, than that our right to meet at Cannock whenever we want is no longer guaranteed.

I experienced the selective use of the law, i went to a reunion cruise at the end of last year, i was having a laugh with the police attending, there was officers checking cars over, they were doing a very thorough job on the golf and corsa stereotypes many of which had obvious faults like tyres that were below legal limits, got to me and my mate and greeted us, they didn't check my car just stood back, looked at the saph and told me how nice condition it was, they only checked the lights on my mates Vectra, his L.e.d sidelight had failed, i asked the officer if I could use one from my car so he could see it working, we got a no just chuck one in when you get chance there's really no worries I'm not exactly old either at 31.

The law is always used selectively.  Always has been.

I wouldn't think if there were several shit cars driven sensibly there would be a problem. Several 'yoofs' driving like twats on the other hand...
