This is a tidy old thing, it's been away having some work done, new diff seals, fuel pump rebuilt. It unbelievably starts first turn of the key and goes quite well with the 2.5 Di and 5 speed gearbox.

Bit of alright, that.

Only just noticed that it only has vents on the nearside rear quarter... Anyone know why? Only reason that pops to mind is to get cross-ventilation from the driver's window 😕

Our regular delivery driver has been having a shite weekend! His Transit van broke down in Stoke on Trent on the way to deliver a Renault 25 to Swindon. A quick scan of Marketplace saw this Defender 20 minutes away so he went and got that and towed the Renault to Swindon and planned to get the transit on the way back.

I spotted a 5T Sprinter recovery truck for sale nearby the transit so made the arrangements to buy it so he could take the Transit on the trailer and the Defender on the truck and return home today.

He got 10 miles away before the Sprinter shat it and I had to find a local recovery firm to move it from the M6 hard shoulder.

The seller of the Recovery Truck blocked me when I asked if he could lend a hand.

Recovery firm charged me £200 to move it 4 miles then said it would be £1000 plus vat to recover it back home.

When he was heading back to where he'd abandoned the van noticed the clutch starting to slip on the Defender so decided it might be best not to try also towing the transit van.

He got as far as Kendal before the Landrover just died, it cranks but won't start.

3 fucked vehicles within 24 hours and £16k down the drain!

Shit happens!

Sorry I found the info. It's 323i Coupe, keep it of course. E36 BMW is amazing car and powered with silky smooth 6 cylinder is even more fruities on the cake. :))

Could it be because the exhaust exits on the offside?

Very poor show by the Sprinter chap.

It was sold to us by a Mr Muhammad Salman LATIF of Motor works Stoke LTD for £8500.

I asked if he was able to assist in recovering it as it was stuck on the m6 hard shoulder 10 minutes away, his response was "I don't know what has happened mate. I went for test drive as well and it was perfectly fine. I don't know how to recover him. Don't have any trailer etc" Then he removed himself from the chat.

Shit happens. He's certainly not going to be on my Christmas card list this year.

How cool is this!

Very, loved the TL I had. What's with the plate though, production started in 1965 - is that a 'cherished' number?

It's a cherished plate which has since been removed, I'm waiting on the original reg plates arriving.

It's a shame you don't have some sort of public presence you could use to make people aware of this chaps conduct 🤔

Better still, his residential address is available to view on Companies House website.  It would be a shame if he received the current equivalent  of an avalanche of Argos catalogues.

He really needs to receive the worst possible car you could imagine.

Filled with concrete

A lorry load of very ripe manure for his roses dumped as near as possible (preferably blocking) his front door would be better.

It's not really worth the drama, I'll just take the hit and move on. Getting worked up about it isn't going to solve anything.

I made an error when quoting the name and company. It was purchased from motor works Stoke LTD not motor world.

Good job I didn't go completely on the warpath and give someones a bunch of grief it had nothing to do with although it's possible motor works and motor world are related they have different directors.

Anyway, the truck is still sitting in the recovery firms yard in Stoke, my driver wants to try and hound the seller for a refund but I simply can't be bothered chasing it up.

The next problem is where to send it. I need to find someone who can actually fix it.

Stoke? @Lankytim can you recommend anyone to fix a broken Sprinter?

Decided to buy a "modern" vehicle so bought the thing that most resembles something ancient.

It's a Suzuki Jimny SZ5, 1.5 petrol, manual gearbox, leaf springs!

It doesn't seem to have any driver aids or safety features and the visibility out of it seems ok.

I'm picking it up this afternoon.

I can’t think of anyone off hand tbh. What area of Stoke has it been recovered to? @sutty2006 is in Stoke too and is an actual mechanic with contacts and stuff.

Is that @barrett's old one?

Not mine, although it did used to live quite close to me. It was sitting in this garden in Bexhill (along with an early amd very dead XJ6) for a few years but mercifully seems to have been saved just in time

Sierraman will be along soon to say it's your own fault for buying remotely.

He's have a point I suppose but christ, £8500 is not a cheap truck! I'd be utterly in despair if that had happened to me. Well done you for taking it on the chin and not letting the bastards grind you down.

I hope it gets fixed and on 'eh road without too much bother.
