RetroShite Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Some updates! Chucked some red paint and tiger print seat covers at the GS which believe it or not makes it look a little bit less shit than it did! The original thin plastic arch trims on the Saab had disintegrated making it look extra scruffy so I bought some black metal 900 specific arches from eBay which took about a month to arrive from Germany. The Saab had been owned by a local doctor who had the car meticulously maintained at local automotive engineer but they'd failed to do anything about the terrible bodywork and crumbling interior. davehedgehog31, dome, yes oui si and 9 others 12
Dan302 Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I've bought a ticket for the Saab, always wanted a pre GM one. yes oui si 1

RetroShite Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Everything had been going quite well until the place where I've stored my cars for the last 10 years had been bought over by someone else very recently and he doesn't want cars on the site... Or at least that's what he says... What he means is the area that came free with our unit when it was owned by the previous guy is no longer free and he wants to move our cars into a compound and charge as extra for it. The rent on our unit has increased and we've been told we are allowed a maximum of 2 cars outside starting next month! We thought this might happen when the place changed hands so have been looking at other options but there isn't really much out there at the moment, what's annoying is I've just bought a house 5 minutes away from my unit! I need to be seen to be doing something about decreasing the number of vehicles I have on the site, it doesn't help that I've managed to squeeze in about 16 vehicles into the space I had which now needs taken down to 2! I can't really complain because we had it good for so long in there with cheap rent and it allowed me to quite my job and start working for myself without massive overheads. I'm trying to find some land to buy locally and build a small workshop and secure storage area but for the time being I'm stuck where I am and if I get a secure compound to hide my cars out of the way it'll probably work out for the best in the short term. I had been stocking up a little bit lately so this month I'll be trying to run that down even more and might have to add a couple more things to the site! 9 cars and 4 bikes to go this month already! davehedgehog31, Dan302, yes oui si and 12 others 2 13

It's not solely directed at us, there are scrap vans all over the site that the new owner wants cleared. We've just been waiting to see the lay of the land and although paying more money each month and getting much less for it is a bitter pill to swallow, it could have been worse. RetroShite Posted December 3 Posted December 3 It was good while it lasted! 10 years we've been here and a shitload of old cars have driven on that concrete road! Here's a bunch of pics from as recent as last week to the day we moved in. Over the last 5 years it started to become even more overpopulated. loserone, Fat_Pirate, brandersnatch and 17 others 20
Shite Ron Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Liked for the pictures and the good times. It is sad that you have to move as that is a great looking building. I hope all works out well and that you find somewhere soon. grogee, mk2_craig and Dan302 3

Lacquer Peel Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Short term profit over a long term reliable tenant, sounds like landlordism. yes oui si 1
RetroShite Posted December 5 Posted December 5 A solution has been found! I should be getting another unit at approx 1800 sq ft next door from my original unit so will have a good chunk of dry covered inside space as well as keeping the current unit for access to the ramp and whatnot. It does look a bit like a scrapyard from a distance so I can see why the new owner wants to tidy the place up. Pieman, captain_70s, chaseracer and 21 others 20 4
RetroShite Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Latest arrival! I have a few cars out there I've already paid for so continuing to get them on and gone before I have to tidy all of my cars away inside. DeanH, Scruffy Bodger, Lacquer Peel and 19 others 22
