Excellent! I am delighted to have encouraged  not only more crusty beige Italian chod into the fold but also further contributed to marital harmony chez Cylinders!

It's always good to come to this thread to feel less silly about your own latest purchase/roffle win?

I'll stick the dates on the calendar to cheer up the kittensinthewelder about the start of term ?

Scuttle rot sounds a tad concerning but from the pics it looks good,

A light polish and some anchor wax on the crusty spots and she's a beauty.

If it’s a complete basket case then at worst it looks like it has a great interior to donate.

It looks like the windscreen surround has holes in it.

That's unusual.

If I know anything about Alfas it's that they don't Rust , are reliable and bombproof like all Italian cars.

Not like them flimsy old Volvos.

Just thinking out loud!

Sunday 29th September is Milton Keynes BL Autumn day at the museum and what car to take? The two Sovereigns fit the pre 1997 BMC, BL and Rover group restrictions, but I feel I would rather take the VP1500 or Metro. Which one???

This is what I am thinking, take them both. Press-gang an innocent shiter to come to Buckingham leave there car and drive a tidy MG Metro or the scuffest VP 1500 on the road the 11 miles to the event and spend the day bathing in BL beauties.

Any takers?

I should be available for this, museum is only five mins from here...and I sadly lack anything BMC made  on my fleet!

There is no such thing as an "innocent" shiter. They are all guilty of "previous".

Lol some of the newer Volvos are not as tough as the older ones. My supervisor at the depot bought a new V60 in 2014 and it was constantly in and out of the garage for warranty work. Nice car when it worked but he got sick of all the problems so got rid and replaced it with an Audi S5, mind you that's been back to the garage about 4 or 5 times since last November trying to trace a rattle.

My mum also managed to make a mess of a Volvo a few years back by using a Sirion as a battering ram when reversing, the Sirion stood up to the impact better than the Volvo did.

This morning doing a head count from an upstairs window I found the MX5 was missing from my signature!

Ok, a very thin excuse to photograph the drive this morning, but I think it looks good.

The wide lens deceives, there is under 6ft between the AX and garden kerb, we also suffer in we can end up last car in, stoppers the bottle!

Don't forget two in the garage and two in the lay-by!

I am hoping to be in attendance with Nan’s Mini - so it’d be nice to see some new and familiar faces there!

I was thinking about needing to press gang one shiter to make my dream come true of the Metro and VP1500 going to BL day!

It looks like I might have more volunteers than I was thinking, that is great because I have the Metro, VP 1500, but also Sovereign S1, Sovereign S2 and MGB GT that all qualify for pre 1997 BL. Then I have my Vitesse, although currently running so badly that it is not fit to go the 11 miles.

For those who thought camping at the field of dreams was spoiled by the no fires rule, today I have bought a fully encloses garden fire with BBQ shelve. It is a reasonable size 900mm diameter base, 1300mm high.

When Mrs6C sees it I hope it will get full approval.

For some reason it reminds me of the inn of the sixth happiness ( which my dad was in!).

Probably just me, but at the start the older woman ( not ingrid Bergman ) is telling the orphans bible stories round a steel fire.

the chinese mountain scenes rescuing the children was filmed in north wales and my dad was an extra. We’ve never been able to spot him though.

any film in which curt jurgens is Chinese and is filmed in wales can’t be bad!
