I've just driven something I've never heard of. A "Lynk & Co" 01. Sounds like a clothing firm:

Drives as you'd expect for a Hybrid soft roader. Engine noise sounds very Toyota Aygo, apparently a 1.5 3-cyl engine.

Apparently Lynk & Co are apparently owned by Geely.

Some other countries still have a preference for saloons, goodness knows why (says the owner of a Pug 407 saloon) Turkey was one country that I noticed hatchbacks being very low in numbers. They have, for example; the Peugeot 301, Fiat Egea and my most favourite, the Fiat Linea amongst others:

Formed by an ex-Falcon employee named Laurie Salmon in 1959 and built in Epping (the 'Naco Works' is still standing). They also offered a saloon version but I doubt many were built. One known survivor of the estate, although I have photos in my files of a second one abandoned in woodland during the 1980s which wasn't rescued, sadly.

Interesting that the CM project car was the one used in the firm's publicity (although the same reg is on both cars so maybe they just swapped the reg round multiple examples!)

The survivor is a pretty well-known trials car with a pretty hot engine with OHV conversion etc. This is it when it was first discovered (late 70s I think) before restoration

Yes I believe I saw the survivor, and it did look quite well sorted.  I doubt if many were made.  What is the windscreen from?

National Historic Specials meeting at Cotswold Wildlife Park this Sunday 14th, IIRC.

Today's restorations are mostly far better built and finished than they were originally.

I thought Reliant Regal but they are too shallow, but I did discover that the Regal VI has the same screen front and back; nothing to do with this discussion but what a phun phact!

That sure is a phun phact!  I thought the Naco screen might be 100E, as are the tail lights - in fact the whole thing is a fake 100E, which makes it a bit pointless because by 1960 you could probably buy a genuine used 100E for the cost of building a Naco.

Looking at the Pops and Prefects I wonder if the screen is from a 103E 'Sit Up and Beg' which sort of makes sense as the wheels are certainly from one...

The boot is to do with security - makes it more difficult to rob a car - also car stays marginally cooler than in a glassy hatchback.
