Following on from the interesting Salamander chat in the Sainsbury's thread led me to look for other bollides called 'Salamander' and I've discovered a Filipino beauty. I've also discovered this, also from the Philippines. An amphibious tricycle; the 'inventor' is looking for investors, see the link below.

The Proton Tiara is a new one on me, a stylistically tweaked AX only available in Malaysia between 1996 and 2000.

Spot the bits from the Ford parts bin: they are attached to a Winchester Mark IV and I've never heard of this one before. One of three survivors from not very many built in the first place. The engine is from a Transit which is hard to spot from here.

Saw one of these yesterday. Didn't know they did a version other than the saloon.

It was hideous and I wanted it.

What you really need for an amphibious car called Salamader is for it to be designed by Peter Wheeler after he was bored when he sold TVR.

Presume the project died when he did in 2009.

OK, not cars, but motorcycles...

Thanks to Facebook I now know Villiers engines were made in France under licence by Monet-Goyon (motorcycle company I don't know, went bust in '59).

This is  my Monet Goyon. It now has a NOVA and I will apply for the registration in December. This is as restored as it's going to get too-although I may wire brush the exhausts and give them a coat of BBQ paint.

These things are tiny.

Sounds stupid I know, but I genuinely didn't realise Peugeot had launched a second generation of the 508 until this drove past me this morning.

20191121_090924.thumb.jpg.3287302b4170c378044d0ac09d49fa79.jpg

Wikipedia sez they launched earlier this year...

I wouldn't even know where to go to buy a new Peugeot locally these days, even if I wanted one.

The only dealerships I know are all BMW, Audi or Range Rover, each banging on about their low low monthly PCP payments...

Still, looks a tidy enough thing. One for my Jalopy 2040 list, quite possibly.

In typical 2019 fashion looks like they just added more sharp aggressive lines. Why do cars, I mean ordinary family cars, need to look like they are about to attack you? #freethecurve

Charles Hurst? Isn't that the answer to everything up there? :D

I reckon psychologists could have a field day when discussing contemporary car design...

In uncertain times, I think there's a subconscious desire to appear aggressive in an attempt to divert possible attack.

Possibly this explains the rise in massive trucks and SUVs, - and also the latest spy shots of the 2020 Range Rover Evoque…

Hell, probably... there used to be plenty of Pug dealers locally (Regency Cars in Newtownards; Turtles of Ballymena to name but two) but yeah, they've probably all been gobbled up by the Charlie Hurst leviathan...

Since the Hurst complex on the Boucher Road is now basically a small town, I'd never go near it now for fear of not being allowed out unless I sign a finance deal on a Quashcow... their roadfront stuff is all Jaguar, Porsche and Maserati so no wonder I haven't seen many 508s!

That's the problem , they want £30k for it , into Audi BMW territory , as you said pcp is the way most people go , now Pug and the rest will stop doing rhd drive if not enough selling , so in 2030 we won't be able to buy old chod like this.

FTFY.

My granddad bought a Mini not long before he pegged it in the 1970s from Lookers.

I knew about Velorex so maybe this one doesn't count.

Technically, rebodied Velorexes to make them more pleasant to be in and, arguably, nicer to look at.  Not a big production concern, they're basically coachbuilt/rebodied specials.

Some sort of Fiat 128 coupe Pulsar thing.  Maybe some 70s Lancia styling in there.

It's a mystery to me but looks interesting.

It all looks good until you get to the end of the rear window, then it goes a bit like:c00fd4db7307ae3dc506811e2cb38693.jpg.6ea83d5ffc703875a5318ae48a4bcec0.jpg
