2002 Audi A8L 4.2 - £750 MEGABARG!

Alright!

Anyone fancy this enormous slice of luxo-motoring? It's probably the best car in the world on all points except fuel consumption. It's the long-wheelbase model with enough room for a modest orgy in the back, and it's probably the only one left in this exact spec/colour, which makes a change from the usual drug-dealer black or silver. It's had an enormous amount of money spent on it in the last few years and the previous owner was something of an obsessive about keeping it in tip-top condition (sadly he also painted the rocker cover red, but that should be easy enough to change if it offends you). Huge stack of bills to back it up, including full suspension rebuild with slightly lowered Apex springs and brand new wheels and tyres. It's got everything you would expect from a top-of-the-range luxury car including six CD multichangers, heated seats, electronic everything etc. All works bar the electronically controlled rear centre headrest.

It's done 143,262 miles, is MoT'd til January and taxed til February. Come and get it tonight before the rules change and you can drive it away!

The A8 is probably the greatest technological triumph of the last 20-odd years save for the Veyron. All aluminium-construction coupled to an amazingly tractable, smooth V8 churning out around 310bhp and a very sensibly-designed 5-speed autobox (with tiptronic whatsits) means it is terrifically fast and refined. 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds and top speed electronically limited to 155mph, plus it's got an electronic rear window blind which is worth the asking price alone in novelty value.

Has suffered a bit of cosmetic damage, namely:

  • crack to front bumper on the nearside corner (caused by a suicidal fox - see photograph)

  • small dent on offside rear door, and black rubbing strip detached at one end (see photograph)

  • some minor wear and tear to the interior, but it is mainly in extremely good condition (caused by the dog)

  • the offside rear passenger door interior blind has been damaged, but a good second-hand replacement is supplied with the car

  • small amount of paintwork damage around fuel filler flap.

Car is in Horsham, West Sussex and can be viewed before sale.

Extra special Shiters discount price of £1650 for a hassle-free sale

cheers!

Stunning car. Not usually an Audi fan but this is smart as, doubt I could afford to run it however.

These are awesome. They'll do low to mid 20's pretty easily as long as you're not constantly blatting it around (which you would be).

Posted

I like these but I'm too fiscally embarrassed to be buying anything else right now.

Best of luck with sale.

As it's 2001 it misses the mega c02 tax plunder

Many sleepless nights would ensue worrying about repair costs and fuel. Luxury cars plus age = ££££s. Other than that I would love to own it!

Not helpful tbh. Sorry.

About the only Audi i like, and i really like the colour.

Tyres alone suggest the car had been cared for, 4 matching good makes are the first thing i look for (and 4 mismatched badly worn kerb scuffed ditchfinders see me running away), nice colour, good leather, well worth looking at, GLWT.

Mega barge.

Unfortunately, only ever one mega bill away from the bridge.

There's a green one in Bradford, maybe darker than this.

They're much more imposing in "in the ally" than pictures on a screen. I'd love a weapon like this someday.

They made them in actual colours as opposed to a shade?  WHO KNEW?

Gorgeous …and I never thought I would hear myself saying that about a modern Audi

I seem to dimly remember there being some Peterboghorror dwelling magazine contributing type who displayed a hankering for a V8 powered conveyance for circa £1.5 bags.

Busking, embezzlement or wholesale thievery could surely bridge the financial gap....

I remember having a go of one of these when it was nearly new. Went like stink and handled far better than a car of its size and comfort had any right to.

Verdict: recommended.

My old man briefly had one of these. Very capable so it was. Would running it cripple me?

Posted

Crippling running costs? Possibly. This one averages around 25mpg according to the computer, but it has been hooned out of every roundabout and cruised at vastly illegal speeds. Keep it out of Sport mode if you can resist, and drive with a light foot and it won't be too bad for long distance motorway miles.

Parts wise there is a very helpful firm who break these on a regular basis so most bits are available 2nd hand at surprisingly not scary prices if you don't get them from Audi. Due to the care the PO gave this one i think it has far less chance of going wrong than most out there.

Sigh...

Been looking at these recently as a replacement for the 800. Bargainous motoring as these have falling out of favour with pretty much anyone from new car lickers to cheap motoring chasers as they are not new enough or cheap enough to run.

I would though, but that's just me.

Can someone drug me mr-t style and fly me unconscious to Brighton so I can get this. Oh then drive me back in it and sort me out some insurance,

When I was a sales DROID I often drove an S8 with the registration AUD1.

I must have been the most sworn at man in Britain.

A friend used ot have one of these and took it for a blast on the motorway to show off its performance. He put his foot down but not much happened so I just feigned being impressed. Then I noticed the speedo was already above 130mph............

It's bizarre, it's the fuel consumption that prevents me having one of these, yet my T2 is probably worse

with an all time low of 13.6 mpg - it ran out - 195 miles on 55 litres!

Posted

Would, especially in that colour.  Driveway is now full of 1970s shite though, so I'm out.

I'm assuming you're punting this about on behalf of someone else, Barrett?  Of all the people I wouldn't expect to see in an Audi A8, you are possibly the wouldntest.

I'd have it but you haven't mentioned that the little bit of plastic trim that goes between the offside rear door and the arch is missing so who knows what other HORRORS have not been disclosed.
