Combining birthday (AKA HAPPY WOMB ESCAPE) and Christmas here, but I got a few books.

Strange But True Tales Of Car Collecting by Keith Martin

Volvo P1800 by Mats Eriksson and Keithe Collander

Speed In Sweden by various

Volvo Passion by Volvo AB.

The P1800 book is frigging brilliant - they need to do a similar one on the Amazon.

I've also unwrapped the Intermeccanica book I got last Christmas but hadn't got round to reading. Had a good snuffle through LJKS's Drive On that I found in a charity shop, too.

A book about Land Rovers with a handy DVD on how to drive off road.

"If being chased by a Clio 172-driving cretin on the Rhuallt hill, accelerate past while showing him the finger"?

Merry Christmas shiters - Mrs Grundig Father Christmas  brought me a Haynes desk diary & a digital camera  :-) I'm going to have a play with it when my dinner has gone down & I've sobered up a bit

Did you eat the air freshener?

Hence the shits?

Father Christmas brought me...

... sod all.

Which is exactly what I wanted. Christmas presents are embarrassing and awkward (for me). I much prefer my kids to be showered with presents whilst I simply have a booze-soaked day with my loved ones.

35 quids worth of Halfords vouchers, so I can buy loads of that cheap oil. Or I might put it towards a new stereo for the R8. I had a look the other day and some are half price, albeit they look a bit cheap and tacky.

Motoring related - Abrex 1.43 model Skoda S110R coupe and a IST Moskwitch 408E, Little book called My Dad Had one of Those, epic fail on not being in for the postman yesterday means the Lada brochures and associated tat didn't get signed for and is waiting in the lonely sorting office for another 48 hrs before I can collect it!

I did make considerable headway in acquiring new vehicle in the form of agreeing price and deposit paid yesterday too. :)

I have a spare stereo, but it's a radio-usb thing rather than a radio-casette.  If you're at all interested I can get some snaps of it and e-mail them to you?  PM me your details if you fancy it.

I didn't even get any fucking socks.

But a nice little camping kettle and stove in ultralight variety.

I didn't even get any fucking socks.

Not surprised. The beaurocracy involved in changing your name to "Sockfoot" would have been terrible and potentially expensive.

The wife and her mate got there heads together,my mate and i have a off road 4x4 weekend.

A bluetooth speaker system for the tv

socks, slippers some nice aftershave and sweets

I got a new torch

Closest thing was a flying scotsman mug from m&s.

Lazy bitch sister bought me a cheap box of booze & couldn't even be arsed to wrap it. Wonder if I can do a charge back on the driving experience I bought her?

A pushbike repair stand, cash, a big box of assorted american soda's (just drank a bottle of Rocket Piss soda) and assorted goodies. Very nice really. I am now comatose through rib of beef overdose. I made the chrimbo food this year with aid of PBK son as Mrs PBK ain't very well. I made a lovely bread and butter pud (with maple syrup and Baileys as the other two don't like raisins, etc). Uber yum.

Car related include ; an Airfix Triumph Herald

A Vanguard mk2 Granada pre - facelift Ghia in Gold with a brown vinyl

A little soft back book on 1970's cars by Giles Chapman

A 1959 Observers book of Automobiles, which is even better for the little notes from the original owner to show he's ( I presume) seen one . The only foreign car ticked is a Citroen DS.

A 12v tyre pump

top gear dvd

A 4x4 experienceday, my brothers in law got one too so that could be fun!

Nothing directly car-related but Mrs A has come up trumps this Christmas. As well as a magazine subscription, she has bought me a couple of local history books including the snappily-titled 'Coal Mining in the north east section of Walsall Metropolitan Borough' which I had been looking for for ages but she actually found it in the shop when we visited the Chasewater Railway :) She is definitely another strong contender for the AS Wife of the Year :)

Gran Turismo 5 and Grand Theft Auto.

I am hoping it is a special shiter edition where you have to drive a Citroen BX diesel across riot torn LA to get the suspension pumped up and a pair of part worns wanged on for the MOT

Snap!  Quite a good little book actually.

Nothing shite related this year.

But did get the missus a new bag and the belt to go with it.  That old hoover has never worked so well!

this year i told people that i dont much care for gifts because good family/friends having a good social holiday is a gift in itself but despite the aura of apathy from me no one noticed over the mass hysteria of 'must buy everything ever for everyone' and I seemingly got a vast quantity of chocolate, literally 6 big family sized tubs which a quick scan of the GDA legend comfirmed 13000Kcal all in and also cookies in a wallace and grommet tin shaped like a van that looks more like a 40's reliant 8cwt van with 4 wheels

also i did get black socks (so i dont ever have to pair then up) and a thin summer shirt

tbh i can barely find issue at that as the gifts are marvellous but ironically i'd have been probably more chuffed with a broken 60's pez lawnmower/NOS proton back box bought for £2.50 etc as a gift just for the shock of my family lowering themselves to that abysmal level of gift purchasing as a serious gift idea rather than a subject of relative mirth over my eccentric car orientated ways

Chocolates, a tea set, chocolates, book, chocolates, a Garmin Nuvi, and some chocolates.

...but are we all happy with our lot?

I know I am.

More than.  I wanted and expected nothing.  We have a rule (clearly ignored) that adults get sod all but everything goes to the grandchildren.
