A quick pic of a dismal looking Escort mark 5 estate on a retail park this morning. According to the databases it comes up as a "Foden Unknown diesel".

Wasn't going to bother with this K11 'Twister', as no chance of a decent shot. However I had an inkling it may have been in long term ownership; which it had (since 2006), so thought I may as well capture it.

I like your style.  Exactly the sort of thing I'd do!

Confused the hell out of a lot of people when I had the camper that I did use it just as a daily driver a lot of the time.

They’d be expecting Chris Eubanks to step out.

That cab appears be heavily based on the 814 cab. I know Freightliner is owned by Daimler, innit.

Because a Justy isn't small enough. I think this little Subaru Vivio will be my spot of the year.

A brilliant spot! I'm a Subaru fan but have never seen one of these before! The later Justys are basically a re-badged Daihatsu Sirion (or is it that the Sirion's a re-badged Justy?) This looks like something I've seen before, but I can't think what it's like.....

Only remember seeing one other before when I was a teenager when these were new models at the time. It was a solid green one that I think belonged to a manager of an M and M newsagents around the corner from my family home. :)

If you are going to have a Porsche with 4 wheel drive, you might as well make the most of it. :)

The dealer I bought my first Skoda from back in 92 was also a Subaru dealer and had a couple of Vivios in stock brand new together with a couple of SVX's. I remember admiring both of them in different ways though I don't think either went on to be big sellers.

Or completely ruin it depending on your point of view.

A few from my recent trip to Romania. I have to say old cars are now very rare over there, I had to put in a lot of legwork to get these.

It took me a long time to hit the jackpot. I saw five of these when I was here two years ago but this was the only one this time.

At least I thought that was the jackpot until the last night when I found this outside the hotel in Bucharest.

But what I didn't notice until I came back later was these two parked behind it. I mean what a trio.

I can't help wondering about the Ascona. It predates the fall of communism so I doubt it was bought new in Romania and was probably imported later. Just makes you wonder its story.

Why is that? Cultural priorities? Some kind of scrappage scheme?

I don't know, you'd have to ask @TataBobu. I'm guessing the same reasons as over here, lots of cheap finance deals.

No, not really cheap finance deals. It's about the same as the DAE for personal loans. Scrappage schemes (starting sometimes between 2006-2009, can't remember when exactly) which were at least in 2010 permitting to scrap three cars and use al three vouchers on a single new car purchase. This is how one of my uncles bought a base Logan with just a bit over 2000 euros.

On top of that there's a lot of keeping up with the Ionescu, especially in the big cities. And the retro vehicle market is too young and small, and the prices are all over the place.

Rode through here on our bikes amongst these that day.  Loved the blue HA as I had one as my first van.

Thanks. Seems a shame, whilst most of the Dacia 1300/1310s were probably knackered you know there will have been plenty of decent ones amongst them. It happened over here too.
