bunglebus Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 Do you remember when moving parts used to be included at no extra cost? I couldn't resist this really tidy Gruesome Tractor still has the tracks in place I'd not seen this early Lesney Coach before Impala is crying out for a strip and repaint I often walk past the stalls selling train stuff, but I'm trying to get into the habit of checking them for hidden gems like this Majorette Only other Majo was a dog carrying Cherokee I picked this up thinking it was a Matchbox Powertrack, hopefully @flat4alfa will recognise it This I definitely can't ID but it was only 50p - anyone? Escort was also in a junk tub so got rescued Alongside it was this Ant - a repaint surely? It seems not Husky cement mixer was unbroken enough to deserve a new home I don't leave a good condition Studebaker behind either I paid quite a lot for this Commer, but it just called out to me. Trans-O-Lite is great Much more of a bargain was £1 for this overpainted but complete Thames Same money netted me the unusual copper Caper Cart There's a regular who has piles of Moving Parts for £2 each, can't argue with that! Decent effort on engine detail too This one was from elsewhere and has been very hard to find You can just about see the flat four Anniversary and Ultra Hots courtesy of @andrew e Got this from the 356 seller, another that seems passed us by in the UK I also picked up one of the A4 size Matchbox catalogues with the last of my shrapnel, as I spent a fair bit on just one other item... bunglebus Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 As I'm sure I've mentioned before, I was fortunate enough to win £50 on the premium bonds when I was about 10, and had to put half in my Post Office account. The rest I was allowed to squander on toy cars! One of the three things I bought was this Superkings K-76 set, so when I spotted a complete one today I didn't even haggle. The Datsun is different to my original, as there are a number of variations on this release. Mine had the same wheels as the Volvo and a black base The Volvo appears to have been displayed out of the box, going by the grime and dust it was coated with. No trip around the sink for this one due to paper labels, but I got the worst of it off I'd even managed to find the three figures over the years, but things like the tow chain, jack and toolbox are hen's teeth Happy Datsuncog, eddyramrod, 155V6 and 15 others 14 4

RoadworkUK Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 Attended the Colchester Winter Beer Festival yesterday, and BEFORE I visited, e.g before inebriation got the better of me, I popped into the one charity shop in town that regularly yields interesting old diecast. This: Dinky 293 Duple Viceroy 37, in not at all bad condition for two pahhnds. It'll go nicely with the plain metallic blue 296 version I procured from somebody on here. Also this: Norev Jet Car 1:43 Renault 14 in upsettingly good condition. Upsetting because: Cracked rear screen, and Missing bonnet. Such a shame; it would have been utterly beautiful with it present. But such was its limited appeal in incomplete state that I feared it eventually going into landfill, so I couldn't not rescue it from the 50p tub. If anybody has a yearning to carry out a restoration, a swap could be possible... Datsuncog, FakeConcern, morrisoxide and 9 others 12

bramz7 Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 There's a decent antiques shop in Salisbury which doesn't seem to price their wares into that stratosphere like a few of them do. I popped in today as they'd had a refit which also meant they'd shrunk in size, not sure if that's temporary or not. Anyway, they had a lot of diecast. I wasn't looking to buy but we all know how this ends. I'd never known of this existing, and £22 is apparently a bargain. bunglebus, RoadworkUK, FakeConcern and 8 others 10 1

FakeConcern Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 No toy fair for us today, but we went to Brighton Marina market where I picked up these for £1 each, the Metro is very good and I'm getting enough parts to make up a nice Britains Land Rover! Also spotted these slot cars £3 for the two I'm hoping @flat4alfa can tell us what they are I rather like the Esprit Esprit is Made In Hong Kong and Camaro in China, no other marks I can see Here with Corgi Metro for an idea of the (small) size. Let me know if you want them @flat4alfa After that we walked into Brighton North Lane and in Snooper's, spotted these and these, I've never seen the Firebird with these wheels although I have loads of them However I did buy these, marked at £5 & £8, but the seller happened to be there and let me have both for £10 I've never had or wanted the Iso Grifo, but I must say it's a lovely model. The Miura is an early one with the cast separate spare wheel. I have three now so I just need one more to make that Golden Jacks version! AndyW201, RoadworkUK, eddyramrod and 9 others 12

andrew e Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 Caught up with @bunglebus earlier, but all the juicy bits he spied were long gone by the time I got them! However still some bargains to be had… From a pound a pop pile were these few: The Corgi Revopak refuse truck and the Dinky cop Volvo were also both in the pound pile…. well, I couldn’t just leave them there! The Dinky I think is just about the last of the quality products from Meccano before it all went sour, it’s certainly a better effort than the SD1, probably on par with the Dinky Princess. Has not got the Superkings top-trump front bumper though, which is why I had a Superkings as kid! A bit grubby, but it’s autoglymed up nicely after a soapy bath. All for a £1! The Corgi Revopak really is lovely - if not a cool toy. This one has come up lovely too post scrub - and get this - has never been gummed up inside with plasticine 😆 It had a very long life and kept in the range till this century, so Corgi got their moneys worth out of it. The VW Type 3 razorback Karmann Ghia is another favourite of mine, I have a few… but I still parted with a very reasonable £11.50 for the pair, Renault 16 is a late whizzwheels version but still keeps all its opening features. This is the first KG I've had with the clear engine cover intact. A scrub and sacrifice of the star (it was wonky!) and a little polish later and it turned out just fabulous, the chips in the photos dint look half as bad in the flesh. In fact everything has buffed up lovely, but I've lost the light for tonight now. FakeConcern, danthecapriman, MiniMinorMk3 and 8 others 11

Spottedlaurel Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 Not quite sure when I'm next going to get to a toy fair, there are three local to me on the weekend of 22-23 Feb exactly when we're going away. Maybe Rayleigh in March? In the meantime quite a few shops visited to purchase this rather meagre selection: Wondering about redoing one of the Jaguar Mk2s that I have as a loose replica of the 2.4(?) my Gran had in the '70s (as a mini-me to sit alongside the 1/24 Tamiya kit I also want to build that way). AndyW201 Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 Had a mooch around the shops at the weekend, Just stayed local though, couldn't be arsed traipsing over to Smyths. Not much doing, really. Tesco had the usual early'25 Matchbox, the remainder seem to be struggling after the Fiestas had gone. Been tempted by the bright green Alfa SUV thing, but couldn't find anything else I fancied to make up the BOGOHP offer. The newish Hot Wheels cases also seem to be struggling now all the decent stuff has been picked over so I think it'll be a while until we see anything fresh in there. Most of the other peg space seems to be taken up by the blasted Mario Kart and Disney Cars stuff. Only HW Premiums were the Terra Trek ones and I was tempted by that Pajero, but I've already got a red mainline version, so I showed restraint. No offers on now either, so I'm glad I got that Supra & 4Runner Team Transport set when I did. B&M seem to have abandoned HW mainlines altogether, all that were there were 5 packs from a good 2-3 years ago and a couple of the Dominic Toretto silver series cars. Still got loads of the World Tour premiums in though, I think I'm the only one to have had any of them from there... Aldi are still selling mainlines though, and this week, there was a sprinkling of newish stuff that I hadn't seen before, Thought this was one of the newer MX5s at first, but I grabbed it when I realised it was the Mk1 version. Still a great casting. Don't think I've ever had a Hot Wheels NSX, but I thought it looks cool in white. Don't normally go for Art Cars, but I do like the '53 Chevy, mainly for the extra detail under the clear bonnet, Favourite find of the day was this, I do like an R32, and this one's nice and restrained for a F&F themed release. Very sparkly paint finish though, warch, morrisoxide, bunglebus and 5 others 8

eddyramrod Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 I'm in need of a couple of Corgi parts... https://www.toyhunteruk.co.uk/product/corgi-chrysler-imperial-convertible-no-246/ I need a left-hand door for the Chrysler Imperial convertible; https://www.vectis.co.uk/d077-lot-1008425-corgi-toys-509-porsche-911-targa-police-car-export-issue-rijkspolitie-white#gallery-2 ...and for the Porsche 911 Targa, I need the engine cover. Doesn't matter if it's police or not. Steve Flowers doesn't list either of these items, so I'll have to throw myself on the secondhand market. I'm perfectly happy to buy one or both cars, however mangled, to get the parts I need, as long as the price is right. Over to you!
