I have to say today is spectacular Tat fest! I wish we knew the back stories to these finds.

I'd like to know about some of the strange things I'm discovering that I did to my own toys and have no memory of doing!

Good result over lunchtime for nearly everyone, I think.

There were multiple requests for certain models from a number of quarters, and through different channels, so apologies if these were already claimed - but I think there's something for nearly everyone who asked.

Unfortunately my phone's about to run out of battery, and my laptop's destroyed The Spreadsheet somehow, so I'll have to sort everything out again later.

But here's where we're at:

Cortina's boot was full of old crap; just like the real thing.

Also, this lost-cause Paris Riots edition Lancia.

IMG_20231027_1451222.thumb.jpg.ec3859630035ef9646166a57a0808916.jpg

I'm guessing you wanted this for the Teledial wheels...

IMG_20231027_1451152.thumb.jpg.3d512a627143625394a0bbe437cd86d8.jpg

... unfortunately, there's been a small fire.

But still - he didn't charge me for this, so three free wheels?

Not sure if @barrett still wants these - managed to beat him down to £4 for the Cunningham, and £5 for the Fiat:

IMG_20231027_1453452.thumb.jpg.456a707c960362a5284d36ed6e6ce3f6.jpg

I thought it was missing a door, but it was just tucked underneath.

IMG_20231027_1454052.thumb.jpg.7575ef46349100ec4db5f5a773442c76.jpg

Available for the £5 paid, if anyone wants it!

**EDIT: NOW TAKEN!!**

IMG_20231027_1454342.thumb.jpg.8842222000b5f93531e37862ad318145.jpg

And this one's for me.

IMG_20231027_1454512.thumb.jpg.3fe6488d878037997f3f3b7f1096f96f.jpg

Dusty but otherwise intact Corgi Simon Snorkel.

Which means I'll have a slightly less good version coming up for sale very soon...

IMG_20231027_1455072.thumb.jpg.2823aa474f9fa22ea64ea7a92afb869d.jpg

And I also nabbed this Lesney Scammell for myself, as I had one for years with no container, then sold it, then immediately found a good container.

So I'll put them together later.

Regrettably, the Insignia estate requested by @AndyW201 was already gone by the time I got back over.

I'll work out who owes what over the weekend, if I get a minute, but - until then...

IMG_20231027_1437162.thumb.jpg.59097d5085acaf69b4ffc6a4efe154a6.jpg

Happy Friday, all.

Blimey!!

I was very late to the tat Friday party today, but that’s a mega haul! Is this your biggest yet @Datsuncog?

Without wanting to brag, I think I've had slightly bigger hauls...

In terms of spend, it didn't quite go into three-figures territory today, but it has in the past! Definitely a few weeks in 2021 where it did - although might have been due to spendy things like boxed Siku and boxed Lesney garages.

In terms of the number of vehicles, I think there was a mega splurge during an 'everything's 50p' tat clearance in January 2020 when it all got really out of hand, and I ended up leaving with several large carrier bags... must have a look for that.

If/when I get The Spreadsheet revived, I'll come back to you with a definitive answer!

Not in my usual remit but I quite like that whizzwheels Marcos. Is that a Mini Marcos under the unfortunate Mini pick up too?

@AndyW201If you want a Mini Marcos I have one (nearest in pic) you can have for however much today's tat Friday one was

Haha it looks great and do I get the junk in the back too?

The Dinky Aston will be a good match for the DB6 i got last weekend and looks better in your pics than I expected.

The Ulster edition Zagato is wanted as my Whizzwheels Tri Deck one here

@Noel TidybeardI have some repro Steve Flowers Mini Marcos headlight covers/glass I bought for my childhood one, but decided not to use them. If you'd like them PM me your address and I'll put them in the post.

@DatsuncogOnce again thanks for all the excitement and getting those quality die cast classics for me! Let me know how much and I'll send it over, I think I still owe you 20p for something I can't remember so I'll add that in

Oops - this is the problem with Tat Friday, things do move fast... and admiration can quickly become acquisition when I'm skim-reading multiple posts and messages on the hoof!

If you're happy to take the Cortina (and genuinely, no obligation!) you're more than welcome to all the tat in the back - and I think you've got some Tat Credits with me anyway from your last sale, so I don't think there's very much owing on any of these three...

I'm completely happy with the Cortina as long as it does come with the stuff in the back...

Oh yeh, you should have kept quiet, I'd forgotten about the credits haha!

As always amazed and pleased you do this at all!

Oh yeah, there was more.

There's always more.

I'd taken some more photos at lunchtime, so you may as well have 'em.

Some more items had been added to the top of the stall by the time noon rolled around, but the majority were still nestled in the box beneath.

IMG_20231027_1233512.thumb.jpg.f593f49678dd5f6d15ddf629cb88f8fb.jpg

Which was handy, since it meant most of the stuff we'd been discussing was still safely away from the gaze of the general public.

Someone, however, had tidied the NASCAR racers up a bit:

IMG_20231027_1233462.thumb.jpg.b924e61be09de4ded0e9d31a0d326fed.jpg

While some further effort had been made to corral the commercials:

IMG_20231027_1233542.thumb.jpg.4d30015ac86628cdbcb72214e3968086.jpg

I'd forgotten to highlight this tolerable Dinky Bedford CF earlier:

IMG_20231027_1231442.thumb.jpg.f5a903889abdba45a48dfba79fbc073e.jpg

And I can understand why @barrett had a change of heart about the Corgi Lotus:

IMG_20231027_1231302.thumb.jpg.8b189dad28c1fb62c965eaf677b42192.jpg

Though it does have a bit of verve, I'll give it that.

Whizzwheels Porsche 917 wasn't too far gone either:

IMG_20231027_1249512.thumb.jpg.a92ceb582100b7776591143992c70671.jpg

Late Superkings Escort Cosworth was lightly worn; I considered it, but then decided not to.

IMG_20231027_1234132.thumb.jpg.1bbc20de460abdaef112efb23ea71f10.jpg

Polistil Fiat tractor unit was one I think I've seen on the stall previously; additional paint does it no favours, though:

IMG_20231027_1232372.thumb.jpg.05567d019e6cae0d146e074a831f10c9.jpg

While this oddly sawn-off Kenworth was badged as Edocar underneath:

IMG_20231027_1232182.thumb.jpg.c7fba2450ce6c9a5839fc66297b89e9a.jpg

(No, it really had the end of the frame and rear axle lopped off - seemingly with a hacksaw)

In terms of the other stallholders, there wasn't much to report - Colin at the Irish Tat Stall had nothing new (though plenty of those Welly Innocenti Minis with the deedly-dee tricolour on the roof); Larry's Independent Traders had nothing at all with wheels; and Alan appears to have gracefully bowed out of the market game altogether, with the site of his Emporium now a book stall.

Ah now. Despite his perhaps optimistic pricing of Days Gone, there were sometimes good pickings to be found on the 50p Tray. If he really is gone, he'll be missed.

I also took a detour to check out the glass case at the back of Cash Converters;

IMG_20231027_1325042.thumb.jpg.292032768187b11754213eadec72e08e.jpg

Some new stuff, though not necessarily anything to get me all hot and bothered. Scalextric, mostly, and seemingly around the £40-50 mark.

Bluesmobile was  nicely done, for sure.

IMG_20231027_1325092.thumb.jpg.cb0bd56305eaff059b4e1f58ef27c480.jpg

VW van an uncommon choice for miniature racing, I'd say.

Mk2 Escort below looked nice too, from what little I could see of it.

But this looked a bit special;

IMG_20231027_1325332.thumb.jpg.1e97dc5ccc61e28c26fbb2d55fc4b878.jpg

1/24 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. I'm not sure who makes it, but it was jolly good.

IMG_20231027_1325212.thumb.jpg.9ec317c4aec80dd527617d3161063bfa.jpg

Sadly also priced at £119.99, taking it a fair bit beyond my means.

Ah well. I did alright at the market, to be fair.

Back out into the wet afternoon...

Got this one in the post, I'm sure I read somewhere that this Revell bug was also sold as another brand but I can't remember what

It's neither hot or a hatch but it is at least Euro - listing on the back suggests the others were not really in keeping with the range name either

Britains toy catalogue 1980:

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR4NeUop-R7Dz9Ttp2k4VJ

Solid approach. New lines pushed, set in safe natural colours. A caged enclosure gets as much front cover space as a helicopter. Swirly 'Toy Catalogue' font adds a bit of class as a nod to parents and grand parents; this stuff is expensive but durable. Farms.

1982:

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSOJXyQ4BHwexiYCh9R-DB

Italicised Toy Catalogue 1982 has places to be in this modern day and age. As do the space ships (given a 'red planet' background to highlight their fantasy element). A triptych of differing subjects for opposing markets but the catalogue lineage between '80 & '82 is clear.

1981, however:

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTL31YQeKL5C0EvgJctEPY

Batshit crazy in comparison. '82's jazzy side rainbows began here. All the old catalogue design duffers were sacked and the New Wave ruled for a glorious year, burning brightly then fading out. Artwork I'd happily hang at home.

As they say, if you can remember the 1981 Britains Toy Catalogue, you weren't really there.

Does anyone know the approx scale of this Kingsize Scammell Crane?

Having been caught out with Kingsize and Superkings before, I don't want to bid on one only to find it would fit on the back of a Corgi Scammell transporter!

With all the excitement of Tat Friday yesterday, I think this may have got overlooked, so any answers would be appreciated...

A while back I was on a bit of a mission trying to find all the different Corgi Mazda B1600s. Don't ask me why cos I don't know.

Anyway I only had one version to track down, and a good one appeared for sale

Don't think any of the others came with the tool chest in the back.

Other than some of the obscure Playart versions, that's it now, time to leave them alone!

A little bit of googling says scale is 1/50 or thereabouts apparently,
