It has been bliss working from home and not worrying about the effort to drive 30 miles to the office. Then to get back...and the associated diversion/ delays because someone driving waaaaay too fast has binned it. 

Has been amusing watching/ listening to the sound of one wheel peels around the estate all day.

Look pal, he's spent a considerable amount of money on that car, which means he knows exactly how to drive.

My driving to and from work was pretty uneventful in the Saaaaaaaaab. One binned BMW Xsomething on the motorway and a Fiesta with a smashed front in Rutherglen was the extent of the carnage. Still nuts how many people will happily bomb along at 60-70mph through the snow though, especially vans. Also the seemingly compulsory 6 inches of snow on the roof/bonnet and the only glass cleared being the windscreen wiper sweep was in full display.

Well it is not improving here! About another 6" down overnight. Yesterday the snow was level with the floor of my caravan (this is sheltered near to my house) this morning it looks like this:

The forecast is for more and no sign of a thaw for as far forward as the forecast goes. Good job I am not going anywhere

I lived in Braemar this time last year..in a caravan.. they have 80cm of snow this year, only had -14 last year..

Well, that didn't go as planned! No photos as I was a bit* busy. It stopped snowing around lunchtime and the sun came out. The forecast is for a week of hard frosts (-15c or below at night) so decided it would be a good idea to clear some of the snow so, should I need to, I can get out with the Discovery. First, the snow was deep enough to go into my wellies. I then had to clear the door into my shed with a piece of ply as my shovels are inside the shed! Got in and fired up the 4x4 Kubota with loader. Unfortunately it is on grass tyres (its main function is my lawn mower) but it worked as long as I did not try to move too much at once, right up to when it all went wrong and got well and truly stuck! Walked back to get the shovel, and paused for a cup of tea. Half way back to the Kubota I realised I was being an idiot and went back and fired up the Komatsu mini digger. A few minutes later and the Kubota was free.

The Komatsu was so good, I decided to use the blade and ploughed my track, all 3/4 of a mile of it. Took longer than planned and it was nearly dark when I got back. Still, good fun!

What a roaster. There should be a form of summary justice/martial law when there's snow; driving while a ballsack gets a swift boot to the stones, not clearing the snow off your motor gets you all the glass tanned with a bat.

We had a light flutter of snow for oh....Maybe 3 minutes yesterday, up.in Formby....didn't stick.

No snow at all here yesterday, but my estate is iced over and slippery AF.  All the main roads are completely clear though.  And the Trafic is better in the ice than the Iveco - which isn't a huge surprise.

We've had snow showers here and a lot of ice about, so the gritters have been out in force. I had to get the BMW over to a garage for a quote, so buckets and sponges were scrambled in short order when I got home.

The soapy water (which came out of the house warm) had frozen before I could rinse it it off and I couldn't feel my hands. Can't remember the last time I has a car I loved enough to do that with. 

I can't clean the underside so I'll have to find a car wash over the weekend. God, I hate salt!

Plenty of white stuffs in Central Scotland. It's currently -8C at 09:42.

The streets are pretty bad. Mrs J had lots of trouble with her accord but then she has 4 ditchfinders on a torquey diesel.

The C70 has been alright. TRACS and the magic W button for the win.

My other halfs family is from South of Krakow, it's properly chilly there. 20 below isn't uncommon overnight. Last time we were there it was -12 during the day. 

It's also amazing to see life go on. Granny's out going shopping. The local bus doesn't stop. And the shops keep on opening. 

But it's a different type of cold, it's quite a dry cold. And you acclimatise withing a few days with a good jacket and hat/gloves
