Rustival 4: 18th April 2026 - A fun day

I've not planned for this tbh, will start saving some pennies!

There are plenty of manual wheelchairs dotted about, I'm sure we can all take turns pushing you around. Or/and bring a folding chair. When you get to the inside bits some of the cars are so close together you have no choice but to go urbex on them all in tight spaces... (especially in the jag building)

Were you wanting to park up with the rest of us AS peeps @Tommyboy12?

I will have to get back to you. I'm meant to be convoying in with another car club but am not sure what's happening there at the moment.

I am not so worried about the museum itself, its the actual Rustival car show thats a problem for me, too much walking about! I was hoping I would be able to just mill about the show in REV, (like how I mill about the FoD) but talking to the Rustival show orignisers, they said that the museum who is hosting the show is not keen on me to drive about in REV

which is a bit of a kick in the teeth since she is my mobility aid, she very much is my Invalid Carriage in every sense of the word...

I can't tell you how to feel Dez but I'm sure it's nothing personal.  Like most shows it's more formal/organised than the FoD and it understandable that they don't want "cars" moving about during show hours when there's people and kids milling about - think about the insurance and risk assessments involved in a public event. I understand your desire for independence and not to be beholden to anybody but I think the only way forward is to compromise. I'll gladly do a spell helping you get around and I'm sure others will too, if not it'll be just me and Beko! We'll be hanging out as a group and will probably wander around in small groups too. I know you like a chat @LightBulbFun and my prediction is that Rev will attract quite a bit of attention and there'll be plenty of people wanting to find out about her. It's a bummer but it's an understandable bummer and more importantly it's not a difficulty you have to face alone as your mates will be there to help. Chin up  mate. 🤗

As you've pointed out before there is a distinction between a modern mobility scooter, which are more or less allowed everywhere a pedestrian can go, and an Invacar which can legally do 70mph on the motorway.

From a safety point of view it'd be no different to you just driving around the show in a Fiat 500 or classic Mini. One accidental throttle application and you've flattened a family of four.

You can't have it both ways.

Outside should be fine, we can all take turns pushing you in a manual wheelchair. From when I went before it'll be far too busy and small for Rev, even a wheelchair will require some ram raiding to get through places

what I mean by that turn of phrase, is, I dont just have REV just as a fun old car, but she is also very much serious proposition, she is my mobility aid, you know, my invalid carriage! :)

i very much understand the difference/and concerns, and I would for the reasons you state, and the reasons @beko1987 states, that there probably wont even be good space for REV, to amble about, I would much prefer to have use of a Mobility Scooter, but it still sucks none the less being left with little in the way of alternatives.

I very much appreciate the offer to push me about although I also realise that with my other commitments in April, the Flower Farm meet on the 12th of April, and the ADO16 gathering on the 26th of April, I really should leave a bit of a gap as to not overwork myself, otherwise i'd have one event every weekend more or less I dont think that would end well for me!

perhaps, hopefully, next year :)

Haven't bought my ticket yet but I will probably be there! Not sure in which car yet.

I'll be there, hopefully in the 924.

Not in the exhibitor bit, because the entry slot is just too early for me to make it there by then. Is the group section likely to have any more flex on arrival time as I'd be happy to park in that bit if so?

Me and the 'Stro will be there, barring disasters. Amazingly I convinced Nu_Mrs Grogee to come with me. She is an anthropophobe though, so I may not hang around for ages talking about carburettors.

@Sunny Jim

I will be driving up the M40 with my friend Paul, me in the Clio, he in his Peugeot 405. He is not on A/s or even a lurker. Can he join our A/s group for the day?

@vtec-e - I'm not a show organiser but I can't see it being a problem - I've added you both to the list - more cars make us look more popular which probably isn't a bad thing. 👍

Already booked an exhibitor's ticket. Last year I brought the E39, this time I'm bringing the modren F10 taxi. Would have brought the E39 again but thought bringing an actively used taxi would be more funny and possibly more shitetacular.

Posted

I'm hopefully going with my 306 if it is finished. If not then I'm going to bring something else interesting along

Posted

I have an exhibitionist ticket, booked the Rover in but it might be the XK8 or even the Freelander depends which one is least likely to explode/is running on the day....

Posted

I'll be there in a tatty mk1 yellow Citroën Visa. And my friend Andy will be there in his immaculate, concours winning mk1 yellow Citroën Visa. That's two thirds of all the remaining rhd mk1 Visas left in the UK 😀
