No, the rubber bumper ones had just come out and were universally slated by the motoring press. I could have paid a bit more and got a new rubber bumper one but mine only had about 14,000 on the clock and looked far better to me as well.

Had the x1/9 since August 2006.

 

first 2cv = 8/93 to 9/01 ( swapped in for the DTR)

cx Pallas = 1/99 to 8/01 ( bloody French drivers!)

cx DTR = 9/01 to 9/06 ( galloping rust)

c5 hpi exclusive = 09/06 to 03/12 ( finally had enough of the anti-pollution messages)

w124 coupe = 03/12 to 08/21 ( rust issues)

tipo = 08/21 to date.

plus the current 2cv which belongs to my sister = 05/95 to date, so thirty years this year!

 Top tip ! Nearly every year i have to change the drop links on my  T4 .. 13 Quid each or so  ..   This year  i said to the parts man , can't i just buy the rubber bits      ? He looked in his book ..and said  ... What year ?   yes... 69p each !  I ordered a dozen !

2008 we bought a 2007 Citroen C8 - had it for 13 years.

Prior to that 1989 to 1999 I had a 1987 Mk 2 Fiesta.

My Doblo, all 1300cc worth of diesel power

Purchased in September 2020 as a stopgap (it was well below market value), as it was handy to cart stuff to the tip in. Plan was to buy a Mercedes or BMW when the house was cleared. House was cleared 3½ years ago.

In 48 years of owning cars, this is the longest I've kept one, and can't see me getting rid anytime soon.

A year and a bit for both of these. 

Bought via Gumtree from Bristol, I can't remember how much it was but it wasn't more than £300. One owner, got it though an MOT after FOTU 2017, put it in storage for a while and then sold it to someone who had it resprayed, and it then ended up with Gavin Bushby who is probably one of the best Fiat people. 

Won it on eBay, my ex was absolutely livid I bought a car a week prior to our wedding but ended up liking it. It did need some small repairs, some of the bits were NLA so it probably still has the hydraulic hoses for a LHD car bodged into it. Sold to a friend who still has it in dry storage. I think it's the oldest 146 in the UK.

Bought this H plate in 2013 for £650, bmw e30 318is.

had mot so drove it miles home on trade plates, welded up the front end then the back end welding…, well I haven’t got round to that due to family life, real life priorities & cost of living stuff , but it’s still here & is standard with some likely minor mods that are reversible 
 

The first one was a basic 318i ( G plate) I had was sold in 2010 when welding up wasn’t a good option with newborn baby in tow, that one ended up purple ( not done by me, it was red ) but is still alive

I acquired my Land Rover in 2008 as a 16 year old that couldn't even drive yet! As a tired old shed it was my first car during college and university, having many silly adventures with friends before finally being retired in favour of a more modern daily drive. But, it escaped being sold.... and after a new chassis spiraled into a concours restoration just before lockdown, it's re-emerged as a show queen that I'll never sell 🥰

I'm not very good at this game, we kept the family bus Shogun for 6 years.

Had the high miles Zafira for 5 years, until its demise on the M1.

It had a good run though.

Current couriering caddy will be 4 years in my mitts come May.

Its also got a few miles on it.

I’ve had my Lexus RX for just over 5 years. By far the longest I’ve kept a car!  I’ve owned the number for 23 years - this is the seventh car it’s been on.

My current 2CV. 21 years, which given that it rattled through 12 owners in its first 15 years, I consider something of an achievement. Also starred in Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, which more than covered its purchase price at least.

Coming up on four years in March with this thing, a little bit different from the way it was in this photo, and has had some incidents along the way, but it's almost looking the way it used to before I binned it at SF23. I bought it on just shy of 52k, and now I'm looking at maybe hitting 100k on it just after the next MOT.

Had this 827 Sterling since around 2006 or 2008 (?). I initially borrowed it for some reason off my mate VeryTallBrad who was the Rover 800 afficionado then. I had a car demise before that, possibly the Rover 827Si that I sold after an accident, so this was borrowed to me to tide me over and I ended up buying this along with the Mk1 1990 Rover 827 Sterling I was trying to get back on the road. I bought them both at the same time for something like £300 each.

I've kept it ever since.  I don't want to sell it despite it costing me storage. I want it back on the road, but it does involve some financial luck which avoids me like the plague.

One previous council owner bought it for 150 quid as had been off the for a few years after the garage they used for mot and repair deemed it needed a load of work. 

 Took a battery with me and drive it away. Fitted a tyre and passed its mot. 

Miss that one, was a sad day when i bridged it.

My two Scimitars I owned for around 10 years each but most of the first one was spent garaged up and the second one bricks. As dailies probably the Skoda Felicia I had 2006-2012. Most have been 2-3 years before being not worth MoTing

My free Belfast reg corolla - had this for 2 years (March (iirc) 2020 - June 2022) before selling it when I got s̶h̶a̶f̶t̶e̶d̶ w̶i̶t̶h̶ the 11 plate astra, that was around for just over a year (June 2022 - Sept 2023) If the 1 Series makes it to around December then it'll take the mantle for longest serving, at least that's what the math says I think!
