Late registration madness

A Rover 45 on a 54/04 plate.  Am I missing something...?

The 45 was in production until 'the end' wasn't it? I can't recall seeing many 2005 plate ones though. Rover 25 is a different matter, there's a 56 one kicking about in Plymouth.

Actually.... Some brave souls buying these this late! I'm not sure the TF's count but it's sure strange seeing such young plates on them.

The dealer selling this 'last registered' one needs to see there's a year difference between his and that blue number...

There's MGR stuff still kicking about on 08 plates, my parents had a lovely immaculate low mileage 06 plated 25 that is now sadly bean tins. The newer TFs are NAC made, they have one hole either side of the badge on the front grille whereas the MGR ones had a bar splitting it in two. The one noticeable thing they changed on the TF looked worse IMO!

Looks like they might have ditched the R6 Metro mirrors on them too :(

Ive seen 07 ZRs and 08 25s before. Missus dad bought a brand new ZS 110+ in 2005, registered March, Rover went tits up in April, value obviously plummeted like a stone, really feel sorry for people who spent their hard earned on new MGRs at that point unaware what was coming next.

I used to have a G reg mk2 Fiesta years ago. It was suprisingly rusty for its age, worse than a lot of earlier ones. Never seen another G plate

These bods are an ex Rover/LR/BL/ARG/MGR dealer, and are rumoured to have some unregistered MGR era stuff squirreled away somewhere. Could be just an urban legend, but the story has persisted since the time of The Unpleasantness. Might show up at some point on new plates.

Another part of the family is now an MG Fried Wasp, Toxic Stuffed Toy & Motor Concern (UK) dealer.

I guess the TF's will be Chinese rather than British, and therefore about right reg wise.

I can't remember if I mentioned it but there is a T plate 405 estate in Smalley up the road from me. Will try get a picture.

I know, I went there to act like a twat and point out it's based on an MX5 or something.... But 1993, Triumph TR7.

Saw an 11 plate Laguna on the m40 the other day. I thought the laguna had been canned in the UK by then?

Feb 2012 they stopped taking orders for Laguna, so you saw the one they sold the year before (which was probably built in 2010, and hung around for a bit).

They're so rare, I do a double-take every time I see one. Renault sold a STONKING 2,400 Lagunas in 2011

No my uncle has a 12 plate one, by this point they were struggling a bit. Saw at 04 plate 1.8 petrol for £475 other day, full test. 175k though. Worth a punt at that price as it can't have been that unreliable to have covered that sort of mileage.

Posted

Each and every mile being abject misery. An ex-work colleague had one that he bought with *ahem* 51,000 miles. If that was correct then every mile must have been driven blindfolded as it was hanging and woefully unreliable

The Laguna II and Chrysler PT Cruiser are the only two cars I can think of that share the accolade of being too shit for Autoshite.

I disagree about the Laguna 2 being dismal to drive . Both the lagonad and the 407 are far far nicer to drive than a bmw or Audi of a similar era . The suspension and ride quality is in a different league . Comfy seats and plenty of toys would make these brilliant mile munchers if you could get the unreliable shit to stay running between services .

Don't get me wrong they are terrible cars esp from a mechanics point of view I just think that driving them is the best bit

I'd love one but the reputation is a bag o shite as Paul Calf would say. At £475 though worth a bag as if you had 6 month out of it you've done well. Even Ross Mcwhirter might want a call to let him know you've done 6 months of trouble free motoring from a Laguna.

I spotted a Mark II Golf which was spotting a K plate the other day, not sure how many were registered that late but also just found this.... When were these killed off?!post-18047-0-82319400-1435581636_thumb.jpg

That's a very late one, but they were selling very slowly at the end.  Mine is one of the run-out special editions (one of 500) and it's on a J, there are quite a few Ks around but L must be rare.  The (mk3-based) replacement arrived on an M plate, as far as I remember, though it might have been late L.
