How much is a lung worth ?

Recommended Posts

Cant sell a kidney as the left one hasnt worked since 1976. Just wondering if there is a market for a lung and how much they go for.

A mate is selling his Testarossa with 11000 miles on the clock. Never seen rain etc.

Asking price is £115,000 I believe, which coincidentally is almost exactly 100 times more than I have in my savings account. 😃

Purchase price is only the entry price!

You'll need to sell the other lung when it needs fixing. Parts are horrifically expensive. Cambelt job requires splitting the car in half for access, so loads of labour or a very good lift at home.

Back when money was cheap it would almost have been worth financing the purchase as an investment. Less so now, sadly...

Exaactly 10 years ago this was parked in my garden for a few days. It was visiting next door and they had run out of space.

11000 miles in 35 years? I hope it's been clocked.

Give me one with 100k and lots of stone chips please.

My friend John owns one and does all his own work on it. He’s got bigger balls than me - last i heard he was stripping out the transmission and replacing the casing.

Here it is spoiling the view of my own exotic red sports vehicle.

I can’t see how that plan could possibly fail…

Is that the chap who threw his Ferraris in a pond and pretended they'd been stolen?

Do you have a child or two you could sell to cover the servicing?

😃

Not that much, unlike solid organs like liver, kidneys and eyes lungs and hearts are awkward buggers to transplant and tissue typing is really critical with them, therefore the best option is a blood relative.

Sure you can do a heart / lung transplant from an unrelated donor but the key is, its the heart AND the lungs, plus you need a shit load of anti rejection immuno suppressants for the rest of your life.

Best option, sell your liver. You will manage a couple of weeks without it and thats more than enough time to enjoy the 'rrari and bin it on a damp bend.

Here's a relevant tale I posted over on The Dark Wob.

I'm going to have to be a bit vague and alter a few details about this to protect the guilty so please forgive me.

This is a tale of two siblings. One was a mega successful local businessman and his much younger brother was a tyre fitter. I got to know the younger sibling due to me being involved in a complicated deal involving me being the middle man in selling him a container of imported used tyres. At the time (1993), he was buying a Mk3 XR3i off me with the money he got in compensation for breaking his leg falling down a hole when he was only three years old, an injury he didn't even remember getting fifteen years later.

I dropped the XR3i off at his tyre depot one Sunday afternoon and happily counted out my £1500. While I was there I couldn't help but notice a black Testarossa parked in his unit. After enquiring about said Ferrari he told me that it belonged to his brother who owned the building his tyre lot was in and the Ferrari was in for some new tyres that were due to arrive on Monday.

Being nosey I asked whether he'd ever driven the Ferrari and he admitted to taking it out for a spin every now and again. Being a cheeky cunt I asked if there's any chance of a quick spin around the block and after some reluctance, he said "fuck it, get in!" Eager to impress me on that hot summers day he gave it a bootful of revs in the yard on the way out as it needed rear tyres anyway and unleashed all 330 BHP.

My passenger ride only lasted about three miles as he didn't want to risk being seen by his family out in the Ferrari so after maybe ten minutes we retuned to the tyre yard which is when the world dropped out of his arse. Outside his unit he'd managed to warp the tarmac and it was fucking obvious that it was the Testarossa that had inflicted the damage!

Much quick thinking was required and the best we could manage was to use the XR3i to drag a partially full skip from the double glazing factory next door onto the damaged tarmac, fill it with old pallets and tyres and set fire to it in the hope it would melt the tarmac back into shape and any long term damage would be easier to explain than stealing a supercar!

To my surprise, this actually worked and to this day his brother doesn't know what happened!

Cambelt job done a few months ago.  He is selling because he is well in his 70,s now and starting to dispose of his many assets as his wife and two sons arent in great health, and he doesnt want to leave them the job of doing it if he has a sudden massive heart attack or similar.

I suggested bequeathing it to a local enthusiast, but he just laughed. No harm in trying though. Dont ask, dont get. 😆

He also has an MGB,  Morris Minor, Triumph Tiger Cub, really old Honda C50, and several mechanical contraptions  - static engines, pumps and the like, that will probably be for sale soon.

One of the old engine contraptions is a two stroke diesel. Something I had never seen before.

Knows exactly what they are worth though and will probably ask for 10 % more,

Nothing changes , I had to pick a Portofino up from Ferrari Birmingham last week . It had been in for nearly 3 weeks for a leaking rocker cover. The engine had to be dropped and apparently there are 2 different types of gasket. Luckily still within its 3 year warranty and “ free” service deal.
