Interesting watch - I was talking to a chap who works for the police as a civilian driver and he says that Norfolk Constabulary are phasing out the BMW’s and have taken delivery of a load of Volvos…

That will upset some of the M-way interceptors, they seem to like their BM's.

Haven’t BMW pulled out of supplying police spec vehicles to the UK? Sure I read something about this a while back.

I'm sure that this has something to do with the chip supply problem affecting car production. If BMW have a waiting list for cars with buyers willing to pay full retail then it makes no sense to flog 530D estates to the police for £15000 each.

The Police up here are mainly running around in Peugeot 308SW's now.

I heard a rumour not long after they were introduced that they were massively (and i mean massively) understrength for the task, and have to be honest, even glancing at them going about, they look it.

Saggy isn't even the word. The back ends of half of them look like the springs have snapped and there seems to be quite a few, not very old ones they are punting off quite young, and quite broken.... Usually gearboxes, but quite often emissions systems, Adblue faults rendering them paperweights unable to start etc.

The Autobahn based VP also ran those 'de-luxe' Lada 1800's with the double headlamps.

The VB in Czechoslovakia also ran Lada's alongside Moskvitchs, Volgas, Skodas and Tatras...

^^^ this happened to me in Czechoslovakia, I'll have to tell you the tale one day.

Many years ago the police on the isle of Alderney had a LandRover with the plate 999. I haven't been back to check if they still do.

Aye, that sounds about right. The police locally are running about in the Transits mostly, seems the Pugs all gave up. Before the Peugeots it was Mk2 Focuses, which just refused to die, still some decommissioned ones running about the two villages in private hands.

Scary, I guess you don't go up to that, knock on the glass ... "Excuse me officer, can you tell me how to get to Trafalgar Square?"

On another thought - that would be shite in a confined, urban, flowing public disorder situation - you'd end up crushing kids in prams (although I guess that's not a problem in some countries).

I love the guy on the right - slashed peak on crushed 'thousand mission hat', sideburns and enough leather to be one of Village People, stereotypical copper of the era in Oz/US/UK in my book.
TK looks good too.
(Didn't know there was that many skyscrapers in Newcastle back in the day ;-) )

It's got to be Oz, shirley - RHD car and TK driving on the left. TK's always looked good, IMHO.
