The grumpy thread

After a lovely ride out today I encountered Mr and Mrs Knob Warbler on their posh cycles. They actually rode at me on the cycle path (I believe it should be like a road, i.e ride on the left) and at the last minute the woman bottled it, braked fairly hard and swerved and the bloke shouted 'don't brake for him'. I just LOL-D a bit and shouted 'F*CK OFF' at the top of my voice.

Yeah, I know, this again....

Other drivers attitudes to a small car, again

Right, so the Rover is out of action for a week or two whilst it has some MOT work done. This means I'm back in the Micra. So, I'm driving down the road when I happen upon a family man in some Dhiatsau Trajic people carrier or something bumbling around in front of me. I'm travelling merely a bit faster than he is so I safely manoeuvre to overtake him, but as soon as I beside him, I suddenly have the one fingered salute chucked my way, why? I returned the salute his way, in which he started getting more and more agitated chucking more abusive signage at me, I just continued on my merry way.

Now I'm not one to take this sort of abuse from others, just because I drive a Micra, doesnt mean I'm some sort of small person who too scared to stand up for myself. What you give, you get back. If a smaller car than your overtakes yours, what is the problem?

Why do I get the feeling that if I were in the Rover none of thus would have occured.

I have a theory that this is more exaggerated in MPV drivers, that is MPVs which are towards the lower end of the market or of the mini-MPV variety.

I think this was most obviously from guys driving the Zafira A model. I think it might be down to an need to demonstrate that despite being up to their neck in child-proof locks and romper-suits they are still a 'man'.

I was driving on snake pass the other day in the Samba, the road was 50mph, the guy in front was doing 35-40 so when we came to a straight bit of road I overtook, and he sped up the bastard, so I had to drop it down another gear and break the speed limit AND hit a blind summit on the wrong side of the road. I wouldn't mind so much but I was following him with a respectable distance between our cars for many miles, wasn't in the mood for driving fast anyway and he seemed to slow more on the straight to let me past, so I thought.

Pleased I didn't have a head on collision, a hand to that man.

Big thanks to all the drivers on the A631 Bawtry Road and the Hellaby roundabout this afternoon.

Next time I'll leave the three bricks where they were on the roundabout and some poor bastard can go home with a bent rim or take a spill off their bike/scooter.

ie. give me a chance to run into the road to pick them up ffs.

No doubt the hobby highway patrol were sat across the roundabout in Morrisons eating buns as usual.

...and yes, the new Flickr update is beyond shit.

I experienced moderate "road rage" directed towards me the other day, picture this:

Jumped up tart .. (Typical blonde hair but aged about 48, you know the trying to look younger type) .. in a white mini with pink stripes tootling along in front.

We come to a small underpass that splits to two lanes, she indercates right (to which means changing into the right line ..... right !?) WRONG ! sits slapped bang in the middle of both lanes, scale electric style.

So i keep a bit of distance and stay in the left lane, she then decides to indicate left "Great, i can get past this loonie" i think, WRONG !

She carries on this charade of not allowing me to overtake for a good while. Anyway after many minutes / many roundabouts and other roads i finally manage to safely and legally signal and move into the right hand lane (this being a new road), she then decides to promptly turn her steering wheel right, narrowly missing me as i pass - Who the fuck lets these people drive !?

Now i don't know if it was "Not letting this shitty car get past" or what, but ff's can we not just all obey the rules of the road and drive SAFELY and to the road conditions ... Aaah well, i'm sure my passenger was impressed

My actual grump for this morning:

I spunked many ££££ on a custom wiring loom from the states, and after waiting a rather long time, it has now landed within the UK "great" you may think... No ... I have to pay a further £30 to have 'my' item released and sent to me from Border Customs. Great . 8)

+eleventy.

I knobbed Photobucket off because their 'improvements' were anything but, and I paid to become a premium member (or whatever it's called) of Flickr because it was great. Now it's a pile of toss.

+eleventy more here. I wondered what had gone wrong when I logged in this morning and everything had changed. Nice of them to let their loyal users know what was coming. NOT. I got an email at midnight announcing that they had already made all these great* changes, which promptly got filtered into spam anyway.

Who's going to use a terabyte of online photo storage anyway? I have about 5-6000 photos on my hard drive and they only use a few GB.

Single mum friend deciding that taking a 1 year old baby to a music festival is a good idea.

I remember at Reading a few years ago some stupid middle classy earth mother forcing her poor daughter (about 4), who was crying her eyes out, to use the revolting portaloos.

As if the child would want to go to such an event in the first place, must've been terrified at night. Poor kid, retarded selfish parents.

Retarded and selfish parents seem quite common nowadays.( Not on here though, obviously! :D )

The kids of such parents will doubtless grow up to be even more selfish and retarded. It's evolution innit! The kids will eventually take out unsustainable finance deals on a new Audi, marry someone they later hate, then channel their anger and hatred into eBay. Eventually TXT SPK will replace the English Language, everyone will park badly, Aldi will buy out Marks and Spencers and give away free 'inexplicably angry' dogs to teenagers. It ruined the Roman Empire, the Incas and now us.

You can see it coming folks. Just watch any random channel on Sky after midnight. The decline of civilisation looms.

Took girlfriend in for her op today. Told to get there at 7.30 am, sat there all morning with her and watched various people being sent home due to lack of beds, we got told its on a knife edge as she needed a bed in HDU. Eventually got taken down to the operating theatre at 2.15, waited some more and she went in for surgery at 2.50pm. Going to be 7 hours in surgery, so i'm back home feeling totally lost, tearful, and clock watching, praying my phone doesn't ring. Going back to the hospital at 8 to wait at HDU for news. Feel so awful, just want it over, successfully, and want her exactly how she was without any change in personality. If she comes through this i'm buying her a engagement ring! (although might need to sort my divorce out!).

Fingers crossed Dean. Waiting is never fun at the best of times. Have you still got that Minor van? Wonder if distraction might work. I'm sure she'll be ok. These people are quite good at what they do. You never see a surgeon with gaffer tape.

My grump. The NHS. Control of it has now been handed over to GP's. who, lets face it, have already got a huge influence on deciding their own salaries and workload. It won't end well. :(

Good luck, Dean, the best wishes of everyone on Autoshite go with you and your girlfriend. Keep us posted please mate.

I should laugh really but I advertised my Astra in the Retro Rides boring for sale section. I layed out the advert properly, added pictures but because it's 2001 rather than 2000 they've removed the advert! Well I'm guessing this is the case as it's just gone. It's not like I was selling an 8 grand 2010 Mondeo or something it's an 850 quid bloody Astra. The section actually says "older than 2000" but there are 2000 cars in there, which means it's a load of shite. I'm a very naughty boy and should go away and think about what I've done.

Oh aye, Vauxhall selling:

In the space of just ten short minutes the 'genuine, don't mess about, really want to buy it' buyer for my Corsa has had a 'family emergency'. What are the chances of that, hey? I mean, surely he's not making it up because he's a penniless moron?

Oh, and I can't get the sd1 to run right. It's always been grumpy when cold but now it's unusable and I cant take it in for it's test until it'll actually run. All the auto choke bollocks is disconnected so I might try to reconnect it.

Indeed. It is many times worse than the new Photobucket. I tried to add a comment to your post but my K key won't work in the comments box.

Plus a third eleventy. I liked using Flickr, I really did but now it's almost incomprehensibly shit and unusable

Also to go back to what others were saying about small cars. When I had one folks would generally either not notice I was there or do something bloody dangerous because I was. This made me drive like an aggressive arsehole in self defense. Neither is really acceptable. We all pay to use the road, why can't we all follow the same rules?

I use Flickr in work a lot, an for example was searching for a Cessna 350. I found a bunch of images, viewed one, saved it, and went back. Although the previous search is randomised and I lost the images.

It used to be so awesome, but not it seems ridiculous, an un-needed update.

I've set up a Ipernity account but going to pay Flickr by ear before I start changing sites due to the 29000 photos I've uploaded over the last 6 years.

Just to let you know, they removed all of the tumour successfully. However she now has no sight out of her left eye, this might be bruising to the optic nerve as the tumour was under this. But, if she hadn't had the op, she would have lost her sight anyway. She now has an impressive scar in her hairline, various pipes coming out of her, but she's totally with it, and seems the same person I loved before the op. Now transferred into intensive care, and fingers crossed some vision might return in her left eye. Thanks for all your well wishes, Dean.

Glad to hear she's come through it OK, we're all rooting for her. :D
