Cheers, but ordering that would involve dealings with the Czech post office...

WHY is every Honda Sky that isnt a fucking basket case so far from FY3 Land?

That isn't too far away from me, but do you really want a moped unless it's for a half mile trip around town.

How about a Honda C90 cub or something.

Anything really ( I have a full bike licence), but Hondas are reliable, the Sky will do 40 if you tale the limiter out of the exhaust and is a metric shitload cheaper than the C90 to buy.

Heres one I had earlier...

My grump: Sold my Volvo wheels on fleabay, to a bloke in Portugal, and it's turning into a massive ballache.

I've had to package each one individually, and he can't seem to grasp the fact that they are ROUND, therefore the height and width will be the same.....

At least he's paid for them i suppose....

Now, the bloke whose bought the Capri wheels.....has been conspicuous by his absence.....twat.

i usually package wheels in pairs, keeping the weight under 50Kg, and the dimensions under 1/2 a metre

Got a puncture. Tyre and tube weren't even a month old and now they're scrap :(

Also turns out the Sprite jack is a massive pile of shit which only just did the job. I have an Escort one which works so much better, that's going in the boot from now on.

Oh dear. I'll assume it was super-cheap rather than you've been having wet dreams over a VAGTDI so you can fit in with the cool kids?

What's the plans.... daily driver and maximise resale?

My little sister has handed her notice in on her flat and her job and is moving to Cornwall to start afresh, this makes me sad. :(

Yes it was super cheap but a spanner has been thrown in the works regarding resale. Watch this space.

Sounds like something major must have happened, nothing too bad I hope. Maybe you can talk her out of it Trig.

Getting up at 5.30 tomorrow morning to go to the immigration office in the next town where I will probably be told 'all slots are full today, come back tomorrow'. This could well occur indefinitely. If anyone has read Kafka's 'The Trial' that should give you some idea of the Czech immigration process.

Follow up to this.

Despite arriving with all the paperwork requested last time, I was of course given a number, made to wait for ages in a grotty waiting room, only to be given another form to go away and fill in and told to come back in 3 weeks time.

I half expected it so in a way it wasn't so bad!

Warren, can we have some photos of you and Cavette together, with your new Golf TDIs please.

Trig, bad luck with your sister moving away, but hopefully she's going to make herself happy by moving in with Cavette.

Problem with the top bit, no problem with the bottom.

She split up with her boyfriend and had a miscarriage a few years back and now lives on her own with a rubbish job at some car garage and loves Cornwall, It's up to her but I'll put money on her being back again within a year once she realises everything isn't as rose as she thinks it is.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. She might love it, and settle there, she might hate it and come back, but she has to try it, if it's what she wants. It's her life, after all, and you'll still see her, albeit not as often, but at least you know she's pursuing happiness instead of plodding her life away.

Exactly, As she said if she doesn't do it now she'll never do it, but will always regret not going, It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so bloody far away!

Nice roads though trigg

Could be worse, my little sis is in Oz. Can't see her ever coming back here to live TBH and the chance of me ever having the cash to visit is slim at best.

^ Skype, dear boy. And here's a top tip: charity shops frequently have good webcams for like 2 quid. People buy them, don't use 'em, and get shot. I got 2 plastic skips of computer rammle a few weeks back for a tenner from a charidee shop here. The plastic skips are near worth an Ayrton.

Matey insisted on singular as "I didn't realise wheels were so heavy"

Fortunately he's arranged the courier - UPS apparently, being collected tomorrow.

Still no word from Capri-wheel-man......ANyone near Lincoln who can go and shit down his chimmney?

ahh well, if he's arranged his own courier, then just get a signiture when they are picked up (and try to get the tracking number from UPS, then you can check when they are delivered) and then your part is done, no future paypal claims will stand up.

i have sent stuff to portugal with UPS before, and not had a problem

I've only just found out you're supposed to re declare SORN or get fined and face backdated tax. Erm, shit.

I bought the Yugo at the beginning of the year which was SORN and never realised you had to re declare it, in the same way the tax disc stays on the car. I got the log book through soon after, but DVLA shows it as unlicensed since January. I've heard nothing from them, but does that mean I'm buggered?

Posted

Not necessarily - just get it SORNed now and explain your mistake if they chase you for it later, I'm sure you're not the only one to do this.

Posted

You sent a written sorn in didnt you -once you received the V5c?

I'm sure a nice letter to them (-if /when they ask) will explain all that nicely.

DVLA and the words "honest mistake" do not good bedfellows make. Or is is perhaps a case of that application I definitely sent in January being lost in the post?

In fact, I went to pick up a form today for the Bluebird (after finding my local has been shut down, which is a whole separate grump) but was told its phone or online only now

Radio control shite news...Recently bought a cheapo circa 1995 Tamiya grasshopper 2 from ebay. Crap description and poor photos, I thought it was worth a gamble so I stuck a cheeky bid on it and won. Got it yesterday and its bloody shite. The battery is knackered, the shell is broken, the chassis is shagged out, the battery door is missing and one of the rear wheels is broken. I spent an hour at work resoldering the borked speed controller only to find the transmitter has a range of 20ft.

Iv'e tested the reciever and it's deffo the transmitter that's faulty. Its an old Acoms Mk V. Does anybody know how to fix em? (Wat?)

That some bright spark in the DafT has finally clocked that rail franchising doesn't work, and has wasted about £20bn since 1992*.

*Studied this for my Masters dissertation if anybody fancies reading on further...

Second day of feeling shit. Still don't have a proper timetable.

Had yet another drive in a TDi (red 'i') Golf belonging to Warren T Claim.

Here are some things I liked about it.

1. Overall, it drove well for something with 200K on the clock on ditchfinders, in the rain, in the Wirral, 3 up with the fuel light on.

2. There was a rest for my clutch foot.

3. The gearbox was quite nice.

4. I *suppose* it was quite impressive in 3rd with the throttle pinned.

The rest of the car was so willfully average it merely reinforced my confusion as to why the trade and press regard them so highly. I couldn't read half of the instruments, although that was probably a colour spectrum deficiency on my part rather than any particular fault of the car. That blue illumination was the only vaguely interesting thing about an otherwise dreary and indifferently assembled dashboard.

The one thing I will say is that they're consistent. Mark's 200K Golf drove more or less exactly the same as the then nearly new 3k 2004 TDi (red 'i') that a course mate at Lancaster had bought for him as a new car - so the suspension was soggy and the back end didn't feel tied down.

Warren bought it to make a killing, and I'm sure he will, given what he paid for it in the first place.

Not a bad car in the objective sense, but a long, long, long way from the perfect giant killing Q car that PH and other true driving enthusiast forums make them out to be.

Verdict: meh.

First time I got caught out by this they waived the fine as an honest mistake. Second time it cost me £80.

You mean the farting bracket.

When one is driving and feels a fart brewing, one can press down with the left foot on the farting bracket so as to raise the left arse cheek to let the fart escape unhindered.
