I genuinely thought nobody's foglight issues could be worse than West Lancashire.... until I came to live in Cyprus! I think I'm the only driver here who doesn't use them, augmented of course by full-beam even in town. Are people really so blind they need that much light? Then they shouldn't be driving!

I've been in Darlo today. On my way home, the A1 overhead gantries saying - Fog patches etc. Hardly anything yet the number of people on a fuggin motorway with foglights - you're on a busy motorway, you don't need them and you're hurting my eyes. In the end I got off at the Boroughbridge exit and used the side roads, far more pleasant.

Majority of fog lighters also seem to sit in the middle lane

Don't get me wrong, I use my foglights. But only on the single track roads round where I live....

Cocky little gobshites. If drinking makes you violent and mouthy it's time to stop. Maybe next time you won't get hauled off your feet by a hand round your throat and slammed against a wall.

Oh FFS!, A few weeks ago a 105E came up for sale around the corner from me on ebay, Although I've got the Kadett the Anglia has always been a car that I've wanted and this one was a bargain.

£1975 was it's buy it now price and as soon as it came on i emailed the seller to view it, sadly it sold within a few minutes, I guessed for that price it's likely a peach anyway and that i should have acted sooner on it well it's back up for sale again up north for £3995

Inconsiderate parking

Last Friday lunchtime I returned home to find a late shape Mondeo parked two thirds on the path blocking the footpath to all but the slimmest of pedestrians. There were two blokes stood behind it and I thought either they were visiting the new neighbours over the road (parked outside that house) or were about to do a bit of doorstep selling.Ten minutes later a taxi turns up and they jump in and go.Broken down perhaps ?

On Thursday morning (been there a week now) it got reported, not by me but my nextdoor neighbour. The coppers came looked at the tax disc and were about to go when I went outside to one of my cars parked infront of this Mondeo.Had a chat with plod telling them there was no problem getting on and off our drives but people using the path had to walk into the middle of the road to get round. The copper said " it's taxed nothing we can do." After the woman opposit me came out and told them with two young kids in pushchairs having to walk into the middle of the road was not on they finally made inquiries as to who owned the car.

Turns out it belongs to a relative of the new neighbours who didn't want to pay train station parking charges whilst going away for a week. The new neighbours don't have the keys so the coppers slapped a fine on it.The owner was, alledgedly, collecting it yesterday. The car is still there today and people still have to walk into the middle of the road to get round. If the car was on the road it wouldn't be a problem but that is a footpath not a carpark you tightfisted twat.

stupid bastards!! why not 'squeeze' past it while carrying a handful of screwdrivers and rusty jagged vehicle parts?

Has it still got air in the tyres?

If so, why?

Stupid anti germ inventions are getting my goat.... Fuggin advert for an automatic soap dispensor so you don't get nasty germs on your hands from it... Not like you're JUST ABOUT TO WASH THE NASTY GERMS OFF YOUR DAMN HANDS or anything is it!!!

The pikeys have been evicted so yes still got air in the tyres. If it's still there on Monday I might do as Mr Bol suggested.

Further to my 'sad panda-enducing' behaviour earlier in the week related to the non-purchase of a 205 GTi, this morning I got an insurance quote in the post off "RH" for said vehicle, £113 for the year. A hundred and thirteen quid. I am really pissed off with myself now.

I'd walk past it wearing my sandpaper trousers.

Write a note advising them that their parking was wholly less than satisfactory. Then use chemical metal or summat to stick it to the windscreen. In fact do it on A3 paper and put it in their line of sight, then video them trying to scrape it off so we can all have a chuckle.

Mate of mine had some labels he bought off ebay, they're the brittle plastic they use on security seals on electronics and whatnot. Except they're about A5 size. Every time someone blocked his garage, he'd write then a nice note on it and put it on a window, they used to take about an hour to piggle off.

Thought it was a Pinto or somesuch?

With you on twatish parking, I gave up my old lock-up after a few months because of pig-ignorant bell ends blocking the access, despite the dropped curb, double yellow lines and 'KEEP CLEAR' in 2-foot high letters on the road. Lost £100 deposit, but it was worth it for my blood pressure/sanity.

This fella had the right idea...

saturday drivers

ive been doing a fair bit of driving today

durham - newcastle and back (twice)

durham - darlington - thirsk - durham

its raining, a bit foggy in places and generally poor weather conditions, but the standard of driving ive witnessed has been terrible

and just about everywhere ive been today ive been behind a doddery old farter who cant decide where they are going, dont notice the traffic lights have changed, change lanes on the motorway without looking in the mirror or indicating, and all this at below the speed limit and most of the time with their fog lamps on (even when no fog is present)

Just tow it into the middle of the road and leave it. It will soon get removed by the rozzers!

We have the advantage/disadvantage of living an a "sink" area, meaning theres regular purges on anti-social behaviour, badly parked cars, litter e.t.c. all dealt with. Chav drug dealers have their doors booted in at 6 AM by the coppers, mini motos are seized and crushed. Its great!!

My groan for today.... Went out in the fezza with Mrs Lankytim and Lankytim Jnr to do a bit of shopping. On the way we passed a GIANT sack of carrots that had fallen from the back of a lorry, lying on the verge. I begged the wife to pull over so I could collect them, take them home and give them to our pet rabbits.. although a million carrots would take a while to get through. No doubt we'd find other worthy rabbits to give some to. Anyway. After shopping I eventually talked the wife into going back with me to get them, but youve guessed it, theyd already been snaffled up by someone else! Gutted! To make things worse I found i'd stepped in a dog turd and had covered the fiestas carpet and a can of de-icer that was in the footwell in dog shat. WHY MUST LIFE BE SO DIFFICULT!!!!!

Good on that guy, giving him a 12-month driving ban seems a totally ridiculous outcome to that story.

Like this though:

I used to be proud to be British and it now saddens me to say I am not. People who live their lives peacefully, work, pay taxes and raise their families the best they can get discriminated against in housing, benefits, the law and so on.

I get that sort of shite all the time, lazy morons parked across the gateway of the yard. There was one yesterday, parked so close I had difficulty getting to the padlock to open up. I have been soreley tempted several times to just "accidently" reverse the truck into them, but so far have refrained. (autofive's fave solution is to leave the gate flapping in the breeze..)

I also hate stupid drivers who can't drive in the wet. It's either 90mph kicking up more spray than an old spice advert, or 45mph with every bastard light on the car blazing *but still in the outside lane* muppets.

I've been Durham-Teeside-Durham too. Far as I can see every other car has a mis-aligned headlamp or a back bulb out. Where the fuck do they get these things MoT'd? Kwik-fit?

And breathe.... (which is my real grump) I stopped smoking some months ago, my wife still puffs away. It's really starting to get irritating. She is having a fag right now, so I'm sitting downstairs, and the 4 she smoked in my otherwise totally smoke free car bloody reeked and made me cough. Didn't bother me at all before. Bah.

Blimey!

Seems like he's trying for a 100% return as well, as he got given the thing in the first place! I really can't wait until I start regularly buying old cars, there really is a whole world of cockishness out there I'm yet to experience!
