Bornite:  I wonder if you could somehow turn your presenting skills and the Mini with the interesting story into a profitable venture?  Some folks manage it, even when they have virtually no mechanical sympathy or appealing human attributes of any sort, so you're already ahead of the curve since you're actually okay, so far as I can work out ;).  I mean, it still really sucks that its happened, I don't want you to think I'm making light of the situation, just wondering if a man of your talents could perhaps venture into something that would be rewarding and interesting.

Mine does indeed have a freewheel switch but it only works if the solenoid brake circuit is serviceable.  All it does at the moment is to sound the horn every 5 seconds. The brake remains ON.  I am hoping that it's only a dirty or failed connector near the motor or brake assembly or possibly a broken wire. On the last run a few days ago it hesitated once or twice then fully recovered.  It was still fine when I parked it in my garage.  Next time I wanted to move it it was dead except for the battery meter reading normally and the horn operating.  Being a three wheeler, I can force it on to two wheels thereby enabling a rear wheel to turn via the diff.  I won't scrap it without investigating further.  Priority-wise, it's well down the list.  I can still get around in cars and have a rollator and sticks for shorter range mobility.

Ewww. They were some of the worst coupes of the era. I remember going for a test drive in a 2.5 when I was at uni and couldn't find anything redeeming about them. No thanks!

Much rather have a Fiat Coupé/Alfa GTV. Honda ITR would be great but they're all expensive now and quite shabby. Thinking about it, pretty much ever other mainstream coupé from that era is better than the Calibra.....

Stepdad had his appointment at the Christie yesterday and was told treatment isn’t a goer, he said he’s been given weeks/months at best. FFS he’s such a decent man, was good to mum and my sisters too. Just an all round good egg, I’d really started to build a relationship with him too.

WFH today as can’t be arsed with stuff.

Did a school governor training session last night, only male with 9 women, six of whom had their water bottles that they kept sipping from.  Why do they do it ?  Is it mass indoctrination that doesn't work much on males?

I have to hydrate (alright, drink) almost continuously thanks to bastard kidney stones.....However, I fill my glass from a tap.   It is us blokes who should be doing it as we are much more prone to renal colic than wimmin....

The unseasonal weather must have affected some folk.  The van wandering into my lane while I'm in the space it's wandering into is fairly expected.  The Mini undertaking me on the approach to the next roundabout and then hurtling off at ???mph, not so much.  Why are some people like this?  Urgh.

Was it a cooper S with an oversized intercooler?

Not women specifically.  It's everyone that believed the 'two litres of water a day' bollocks a few years ago.  The fact that it's a complete myth is another rant all in and of itself.  If I drink two litres of water a day, I piss like Seabiscuit.

The fact that the original guideline said 'total intake' of two litres a day (including food - which is a significant contributor) and that bit was conveniently ignored by companies that sell bottled water says a lot more about marketing success than anything else...

Everyone at my work does this, constantly drinking litre after litre of water from one of those sports bottles. Some of them must go through 2 gallons in a day. Making that irritating noise when it back washes.

It's the bottles that have motivating messages on the side to encourage more drinking that really, really boil my blood.

Arrrh shoite…….. that sounds ominous. I take it fluids or gasses are coming out where they shouldn't be…….. or of course you own the extra-legera ventilated everywhere version….. which is a win in my book

I wish him all the best and hope that he can prove them wrong and have a bit of quality life. As Chadders said it's not always an exact science, my one grandmother beat the odds, having been told to make the most of the next few months she lived for another ten years, including beating a subsequent stroke. She was too stubborn to die.

I have done something to my back.  Not sure exactly what, but it hurts like feck every time I breathe in, which is rapidly becoming tiresome.

Complete with mouth overflow and a wet chin sometimes too!

Not forgetting.....

This place... people are even annoyed at others drinking water.

If you've ever had been in a room with ten other people noisily and pointlessly chugging it down and leaving their hugely expensive designer bottles in the way...
