The grumpy thread

I was really upset/unhappy yesterday as my son had forgotten Fathers day yet again. Normally get a message later (mid afternoon) but nothing at all. Really sent me down into a spiral of self hate and loathing (there's a lot to loathe) and so I have had a very bad day today.

I have just fired up the laptop and there is a message from Kyle, sent yesterday at 1:00 pm. Seriously arrived at 6:00pm today! How can that be?

So I have been really unhappy, miserable and argumentative all day and was fairly unpleasant last night all because of a delay.

Ho hum.

My ST220 has yet another fucked rear brake calliper and the MOT is up in 2 weeks. I am getting an acute bout of can't be arsedness with this car and its friggin rear brakes. I may sling it in for MOT with the fucked calliper and see if there is anything else it fails on (rear subframe bushes have been an advisory since time immemorial and I really don't want to do them). It might be time to bid it fairwell.

I will be sad if I have to get rid, but 26mpg is also getting pretty wearing with fuel at £1.30+ a litre.

Welcome to the world of ST ownership where every brake part, obscure engine bit and trim piece costs a fortune while you get shitty mpg. They are fast though!

X3, I spoke to Clive about that, they had a bit of a backlog and David, the assistant, wasn’t in because he had hurt his leg playing football Saturday afternoon. He apologises.

He is quite diligent though, he likes to have photographic and documentary evidence of everything he does and this is the actual shot of him sending Kyles message. Happy Fathers Day from Clive

Another insurance moan, ridiculous quote for a car I was hoping to buy. Weekend was the online sites with no luck then I rang around today and got nowhere. I can get cars with twice the power and costing ten times as much for half the price. How does that make sense? Well according to the insurance company it’s because the car ‘may’ have had a number plate change, the plate comes up as associates with two identical cars a year apart - so perhaps someone just fucked up. But what does it matter anyway? I was also told it might be because a car like that with a similar postcode has been stolen or had a crash. I am sure lots of cars have crashes but the single most expensive quote I have EVER had? Nah.

You there! Yes you! This man here who looks like Spencer Tracy the actor wants you to think of a massive number we can give to Tamworth.

Believe it or not this is Admirals actual office (may have made that up)

Please no politics.... It's not massively hard to follow.

I think that is spencer Tracy as it also appears to be Katherine Hepburn. Although I don’t think the film is “ guess who’s coming to dinner”.

At least it made it over the channel, never seems as bad if you can limp it that far.

Aye, today did 435 miles in a 550bhp car with a dead clutch. Quite happy it made it back here!

Need any tools or anything? I'm only a few miles away.

Just had to shuffle £50 from my savings account as I had £18 of my overdraft left.

Turns out that buying and repairing an elderly Triumph without selling the car it's replacing and then going on holiday isn't good for one's bank balance. On the flipside I actually have a savings account with actual money in it which is something I've not had for a good 6-7 years...

Feel your pain there, after shitefest and evas birthday I'm counting down the seconds until payday!

Know the feeling well. My problem is, as always, I spend like a man with long arms and short pockets!

Never been any good with money, sometimes rich, sometimes poor, makes no odds to me, still spend whatever I've got and then some... usually!

Must be catching - this month has been infinite in length for some reason.

I'm literally shoving many many sofa-find 20p pieces in to the car park ticket machine near work at the moment rather than paying in advance, Had just enough to cough up for Ken's roffle (very important to me that I keep up with Autoshite commitments), and have to balance out the possibly maybe Paypal debits which may happen tomorrow because I always do 'pay after delivery' (usually 14 days after purchase - bought lots of stuff for the 45).

I have lots of fuel, but typically in the two non-driveable cars. On the Streetshite I have just a smidge over the red.

Hopefully will have enough for baccy purchase tomorrow, otherwise I'm on jailhouse cigs tomorrow with one strand of tobacco per tab.

I also had to do my weekly shop at Heron Foods yesterday rather than Sainsbury's. The shame...

On my hands and knees crawling towards Wednesday payday

You can't beat a day of prison specials the day before payday, rolling with bits! The first pack on payday morning tastes so much sweeter!

Doing a steady 70 down the M2 earlier and a Pigeon decided to fly into my door mirror.

One hell of a bang and it snapped the thing clean off.

Never would have thought a bird could do such damage.

Not happy, one heated electric folding and colour coded Avensis mirror now required.

All people at work are talking about is bloody football. What's worse is that we're in Scotland, we aren't even in the world cup!

Also, that's now 2/2 jobs applied for at Newcastle University which I haven't even been shortlisted for interview for.

Posted

Recovery time shortened a tad as tax bods just hit me for a bloody humongous fine..... I've sent proof of delivery of all documents to the accountant and they're all nice - but you're still responsible the forms etc... are all done and filed on time.

No I'm f***ng not - that's why this twat gets paid.

Take that up with him sir...... it was still late, so you pay.

Bastards.

Belgium is one of the worst places for the little guy - if the professionals you pay don't do it - tough.....

Business partner rips you off and legs it - tough......

Want to get that money back, ripped off or the services you've paid for...... first court dates available early(ish) next year........ and itlll cost you.

Meanwhile, several nationalities I know that never registered here are being forced to - cue a LOAD of contractors bailing and heading off for pastures new...... tax evasion left right n centre.....

It really doesn't pay out be sodding honest any more..... Fuck this for a lark.

Off to job hunt...........

What was that quick fix someone* at shitefest told me about? Throw a bag of flour in maybe?

+1 on the potless front.

It'll be fun* making this last for the next eight days... especially as the Subaru's fuel gauge is hovering just above 'E'. No wanky hazelnut lattes for Monsieur DC this week. Or driving anywhere. Or eating.

June has appeared to go on forever... must be something to do with the long nights.

And yesterday I discovered there's water pissing out of the (ancient) boiler whenever it's switched on, probably as a direct result of fitting the pressure vessel in the attic last week - so the plumber's coming out again tomorrow.

I'm sure* that'll be a cheap fix.

I wonder if he'll accept a box of Johnny Lightning muscle cars as payment, as that's basically the only form of currency I'm dealing in these days.

This is the 8th year I've had it, which I think is the longest I've ever had a car, albeit I had a company car for some years during that time and the Mondeo was SORN'd.  When I first got it I had a succession of failures which I've chronicled elsewhere on this site and it just about bankrupted me.  I vowed that I would keep it until it died so I could get my money's worth from all the money spent..I'm starting to think that time has come.

Despite this I have ordered a calliper from ebay for £38 so i'll see what happens.  I have concluded now that it doesn't matter how much you spend on them, they are all the same quality anyway - shit.

Can this weather just go away? Temperature is immaterial when the humidity seems to be perpetually above 75%.

Would be really nice if I could actually do anything involving the slightest physical effort without immediately pouring with sweat.

Why the hell did I move down south again? This sucks. You can't enjoy driving anywhere because everywhere is always busy and full of Audi's and BMWs who have to bully their way by you, 50mph speed limits or potholes you could lose the car down. I really miss Aberdeenshire...
