Was under bonnet so I don't think it is that

Go back to the exact place you were working on the car................you'll find them on the floor. :-D

I went yesterday. 240km round trip to snaffle the last 8 drawer Hemnes in the country, but I was in and out the store in 5 mins flat (not including hot dog nommage), and I in the truck so no fucking around with loading. That’s the way to do it.

I entirely agree. The time we spend is, however, not necessarily up to me...

Just set the smoke detector off cooking dinner. It may have had a reason today!

Ah yes, Mrs madrat is good at that, the kids and I call it the dinner gong.  She's good at setting fire to tea towels, bread bins, washing up sponges, work top trim...... she's a liability really.

I bought a garden table from Ikea years ago. At the time I had a 206 and it was mm's from fitting into the boot so we applied science. It was a hot day so I sat it in the sun for 20 minutes and hey presto, table fitted into boot. Just kept the car hot inside until I got home so I could get the thing out. Easy.

Got a mental image of it popping all the windows out if you breathed in the car too much....

I officially hate all Jag XK8s (the old ones, not the ally bodied ones). They are absolutely thoroughly magnificent, but after research and two test drives (one ok, one a shed) I have come to the conclusion that anyone who bought one at any price would be mad. They rust so badly that it's just untrue. The market bottoms out at around 3k and goes up to the mid teens. Every single one is rotten, doesn't matter how much money you give for one. A great example (for instance) is one priced at £8500, which no-one of this parish would of course ever look at, but I wanted to see if very expensive examples were clean. Anyway the £8.5 example had numerous advisories on rust including a hole in the floor, also massive OMG rust MOT failures in the past. Do not think about one and for goodness sake don't drive and fall in love with one. The market for them is just a joke. The rust is so bad they really aren't worth more than £2000, but prices will never go that low. Nicest place to sit in imaginable, beautiful drive and drop dead good looks. You just cannot have one. Damn.

Ah, that probably explains why actually nice ones are rapidly racing towards £20k then. Maybe check the stock at Arun Jaguar. They have LOADS for sale. They also have a purple Daimler Double Six that I want very much indeed.

Plenty of life left in that teatowel!

I think it’s beyond help. They’re my mum’s cast offs anyway- I’ve not bought a tea-towel in my life and don’t intend to start now. I could have sworn I’d turned that hob off!

I did that in my Uni flat once.  Worryingly the alarm didn't go off.

Did go back in - under the immense amount of smoke - to get my chilli con carne.

Uni flat would be a heat detector, smoke doesn't trigger them.

Showers set off the alarms all the time.  Probably different in the kitchen because student cooking.

Good to know!

Epididiymitis, it's a fucking ball ache.......

I've had it for almost two weeks now and it was getting better while taking massive doses of anti biotics, but it has decided today to come back with a vengeance for no apparent reason, can't walk far and feel like I've got someone gently flicking my nuts every couple of minutes.

I've had better days.

How?

Mostly because both Halewood and Longbridge are in Britain, Ingolstadt not so much.

Sold sons laptop on the bay. Price was OK and someone leapt in at the last minute and got the winning bid. Sent invoice, etc.....

Just got an email from him stating “I do want it but I have a little PayPal issue at the mo, will understand if you want to relist it, should have PayPal sorted by Friday”

Junior needs the money which is why he sold his laptop. This twunt isn’t going to pay is he?

I foresee a mass extinction event with the old XK8s followed by a massive price hike on those that survive. Whoever could do a full resto on one would make a good profit in a few years. Although even at £20k I would still be skeptical as to its structural integrity if it weren't a restoration job. Shame Arun Jag don't show reg numbers, would be neat to see the MOT history of their stock. At least two of their XK8 are visibly rusty in the photos, now that my eyes are trained for it. My dead XJ40 was concourse compared to the £2-3k XK8 stock. Also, is it just me or is the interior of the X150 naff compared to the coseting X100 (obviously I haven't sat in a X150, but doesn't look very nice from photos, even the J-gate is gone).

Tell him to do a bank transfer or GTF.

He won't pay, try offering to next highest bidder for a quick turnaround, but that rarely works. It takes a few days to make eBay cancel the ongoing transaction unfortunately.

Look at this piece of leper's smegma.post-7547-0-27704600-1526941795_thumb.jpg

I only purchased the radiator cap a year ago to replace what looked, by it's design, an original 1950's job. The new one weren't cheap as it attracts full series 1 wanker's tax.

Today I checked the water and found the rivet has dissolved allowing the cap to come in half. I've shoved the bits back together and will have to piss about finding something suitable to mend it. Manufacturers will skin a fart for ninepence these days. .

What did they give you for it - ciprofloxacin?

That just made me massively ill and did nothing for the swollen ball situation. Had to get some different antibiotics in the end

Went away in a couple of days after that

Aye that's the stuff, it's made me ill as well, I'm off to the docs tomorrow to see what else I can get to sort it out.

I think they dole it out because it’s cheap - I spotted some marketing stuff for it in the surgery at the time.

The stuff I ended up with was also used to treat other issues in that area.... which lead to some pretty judging looks at the chemist!!

Yeah they have lab questions still, it’s simulations built into the exam though. To be honest I prefer those questions. Even if you don’t know how to do it, the CLI in IOS is so flippin ace that you can take an educated run at it. Last time I recertified I took the design (ARCH) exam which renews everything, it’s actually a pretty good system, you can certify in a different track and it renews everything else at the same level or below.

I had let it get to within a month before everything expired so I was starting to sweat it a bit. To get back to where I am currently from scratch would be 6 exams and I just don’t have the cash or inclination for that!

This time my head hasn’t really been in it for learning new tricks so I just took the CCNP Switch exam again. Work life is mainly consumed by office 365 and exchange online at the moment, which is ok, but Cisco is my main interest.

We do a bit of everything at my IT Company, managing IT for businesses (Managed Services) we rarely touch Cisco these days. When we do need to touch it, I have a guy for that :)

I feel for you.  I had to go yesterday.

What is it about Ikea that fills us with dread?

I know what does it for me. I think we'll be in-and-out, and two hours later I'm almost sleeping on a sofa.
