I quite like Borth. As long as you expect sod all, it's not a bad place. Oddly one-dimensional. There's a strip of buildings opposite the seafront, and that's about it. Nice chippy though. Had a pleasant BBQ with chips a few years back, with dolphin spotting while we ate. Lovely.

So what the hell happened here and how would the unbiased viewer apportion blame?

Driving to work in my wife's car, just had time to think "That Transit's pretty close" and BANG! £400 down the pan. We were certainly not over the white line (although could have been further to the left I admit), but it doesn't appear as though they were either - although if you pause the clip their mirror does look in line with the centre markings. Thing is, I reckon the Transit mirror is higher than ours so would not have hit, so was it the sides of the pickup back? In which case how did that happen without their mirror clipping the car body itself?

Problem is the video is no proof we were on our side, and no proof they strayed onto ours. All that can be said is that we didn't suddenly jink to the right, but neither is there any sign that they did so, so I can't see an insurance company saying anything other than 50/50 liability.

Any thoughts?

Should the sound of the wing mirror being hit be when you can still see the Transit's lights?

but she was worth it.............. ;-)

She was, very very very much so. I'm very happy after that weekend and I'll be even better next week when she comes down here for the weekend.

Likewise if it were mine too! It's a Mitsubishi ASX, on lease so glue isn't an option when it goes back next year. 2016-onwards in scrapyards seem to be very rare, and the only quote back yet from a Find a Part place wanted £320 + VAT...

Bugger.... I mustered mitt that I had to Google the car as I'd never heard of it. Uncommon I would assume so the scrap is out, no luck ebay though?

(this reminds me of a couple of months ago when my mates wife smashed the back light of some Chevrolet she's got. Newish but rare only one is in Denmark and about £150)

My gaffer snapped a wing mirror off a new vw amarok at work, cost was £400 plus paint...

I had another failed attempt to repair the headlights on the Jag today, the low beam on the drivers side doesn't work and the high beam on the passenger doesn't work AND when high beam is on the passenger side low beam dies and the passenger side low beam comes to life!

DAMN YOU JOSEPH LUCAS!!!

I investigated and pulled apart this relay:

Only to find it in fine condition, so I started pulling apart and cleaning all the terminals I could access in the lighting circuit, no change.

I think the issue is located here:

This nest of filthy wires is under the fuse box which is held in with the radiator expansion tank, and NONE of the bolts are captive, meaning I need to remove the wheel for access. CUNT.

Today I have been mostly pissed off by the Co-Op Bank.

Despite having been a loyal customer for 22 years they have done a few things over the last few weeks which have made me wonder if they actually want any customers at all. Basically:

1- "Improved" their internet experience which means their online facility is worse than before

2- Cut their telephone banking hours

3- Issued Parkette with a cash card which had no information on it so couldn't be read. Wouldn't issue her with a replacement as they had no security I.d registered for her (despite having had an account there for 16 years) so we had to go to a branch. Big waste of time. And her internet banking won't work as they haven't got any security for her (despite registering it all at the branch). So we have to go back again. FFS

4- Parky Jnr's new cash card arrived - it won't fit in any machines! Compared it with mine and it's about 2mm too big! I mean what the actual fuck is going on there?

5- Today they cut my overdraft facility after 15 years without any notice and can't explain why they did so. But if I want it back I have to reapply. In a branch.

Bunch of bloody jokers. Moving the lot to First Direct

Just went for a 2 hour night drive and got out of the car to find the lights are only just SODDING WORKING PROPERLY.

My issue just went from confusing, to confusing and intermittent.

I tried first direct when they first started up, the useless fuckers couldn't even count. Worst bank I've ever used.

I’m anal about Banking, but FD really are very on the ball. My wife has worked in banking for 15 years and nothing that either of us have experienced elsewhere comes close.

944 has gone for 'a bit of paint'.

Obviously what paint is still on it, is hiding a myriad of horrors and I was called down to the garage this morning to watch a great big chunk of fibreglass drop out of the panel beneath the battery tray. Fucking thrilled I was, although tbh, I can't remember telling the last paint shop that worked on it, "If you find any holes, just fill the fucker with wob".

Hope they work for you then. I gave up when my balance would vary in a day by more than my monthly income when I hadn't spent anything & nothing had gone in or out...

First Direct have been excellent according to Mrs Beard. The customer service is incredible. Always answer the phone quickly and deal with any issues promptly apparently.

Liked - but for the memory of a Dolly Sprint it brought back that had a myriad of shockers like that. I too loved that one....... feel your pain fella!

Already bought and fitted some, and if it wasn't for the bezel and lens (and the fact they look naff) it'd be ok. Gives more time to hope a cheap one pops up!

It's very hard to tell what actually hit there and what didn't as the audio and video are unsynchronised when I play it back.. the bang happens before the transit is even alongside you (it happens when the transit headlamps are still in frame).

I suspect that the transits mirrors are big enough that it was mirror-to-mirror contact.  Had you hit something harder (like the back body) I would expect the mirror to be smashed off.

Utter bummer.  One will turn up in a breakers at some point.. Maybe one that has been crashed but the mirror is still OK.

Left SVX NATION again.

To filter out the grunting would render 95% of it illegible.
I don't want to live in a censorship blur cloud, so I just did one instead.

You can play SVX NATION bingo really easily.

1. 4.44 and manual shift swap bro
2. I want to turn my SVX into an Impreza
3. I really should have bought an Impreza
4. Manual converted SVXs are the best
5. No, they're the best.
6. Manual converted SVXs are THE BEST
7. You're so shit and stupid for wanting to keep it auto
8. You're not in the US why are you not in the US
9. If you change everything about it the SVX will beat Skylines and supercars
10. What wheels are those (on a technical help thread)

P.S. you forgot the other favourite Subaru stereotype, do you even vape bro?

I used FD in their early Internet Banking days. They were alright; they gave me £100 for moving my account to them. Few other banks offered online and 24 hour banking at the time, and bank scammers / phishing hadn't really got going back then, so they were quite safe to bank with.

As everyone has jumped on the online system since then, and with the growth in phishing / hacking / bank scamming, I've left it behind and only do my banking in a branch, face-to-face with a teller I can actually talk to. No more internet or telephone banking for me. Sometimes simplicity is the best.

Point no.8 is the problem there (other stereotypes are available). US based forums seem to attract a higher quality grunting mong than others based in less developed parts of the world (according to the previously mentioned stereotypes). Shame, as most US born real people I've met seem to be quite normal people.

Don't go in the branch!

I switched away from the Co Op a few years ago. They'd done a few things to piss me off, but the last straw was inviting me to apply for an account with a few perks like cashback on card transactions. I had to apply in branch, and it was just an opportunity for a really high-pressure sales pitch. Not happy. I've struggled to get out of debt and did not appreciate having overdrafts, credit cards and loans pushed at me.

I chose them for ethical reasons but they're not really a co-op any more. My final contenders were Metro and Nationwide and I went with Nationwide in the end as they have a branch nearer to me.

Switching is a piece of cake these days, if you don't have a pressing reason to stay with them then there's no need to.

I went to rhyl at the weekend on my merry tour of North Wales. It was shut.

You spelt shit wrong bub.

Prestatyn is actally not too bad - compared to the rest anyway. Rhyl is shocking - the only people who go in the sea there are those being drowned by scousers over their drug debts.

What you describe is typical of high resistance in one or more of the grounding wires from the headlamp connectors/loom to the body which they insist on taking via those bullet connectors.

So, sorry, but the only way is to pull those moisture and dirt trap connectors apart to reveal the likely corroded, filthy mess within. If originality is not important you can link out some of the Lucas with modern equivalent connections without the magic Lucas wiring harness smoke!

Joseph Lucas motto: “Get home before dark”.

Good luck!
