The grumpy thread

I am so fucking fed up with interviewing.

Spent 10 hours solid yesterday working on research for an interview today. A job I have been doing for 12 years and as a result know pretty well. Felt well prepared and ready.

Went to the company for my 9.30. Has been arranged for a couple of weeks and was told it would be an hour and a half with the team boss and a senior HR lady. I was told this by the team boss and the senior HR lady, not some tinpot recruitment consultant.

Anyway, led to the meeting room. Sat there for 25 minutes wondering if I am in the right place before the boss guy shows up alone. The HR lady is busy. No problem says I and things commence. All seems to be going OK until the boss guy says "I am sorry but I have another meeting at 10.15 so we will need to wrap this up quickly"

20 fucking minutes. Maybe the guy just didn't like me (fair enough) but to cut me off mid flow to say he had to be somewhere else was a bit rude considering I had been primed for a 90 minute meeting.

Got to admit I have been pretty optimistic about things up to this point but I am starting to get a bit downhearted now. Another month and I will have to sign on and I really, really don't want to have to take that route

Attempted to adjust the SD1'S ignition timing. Unfortunately the timing marks were smaller than the fruit and veg section of a Glasgow spar and not really visible, I also flattened the battery and booster pack.

Arses.

What a bell end. You could well have had a lucky escape.

Doesn't bode that well does it?

What is it with some employers? It seems some interviewers seem to get a kick out of treating people like shit. Trouble is it's a small world, I might be sitting on the other side of the desk when he is getting desperate one day. I sincerely hope I don't stoop to his level.

I might just go and become a car salesman. I have been selling financial products for years, basically these days it seems salesguys in showrooms only sell finance plans and throw a free car in with each one sold

If they treat you like that when they are supposed to be enticing you into the job, I can't imagine it being a great place to work anyway.

Very poor show, and no appreciation of the value of your time.

I am almost tempted to send him my train tickets with an invoice!

People who drink and drive should be banned for life immediately.  Simples.  Caught driving on a ban?  Inside with you sir, 12 months minimum, no arguing.  Oh and vehicle seized, every time, no compo, free hand to the police to use it or dispose of it as they see fit.

Not a grin because it hasn't happend yet but not a grump as it is hopefully a positive step - If I am accepted.

I've decided that I'll be giving up this trade plating malarky in the next few months.

I have a chance to train in a completely different sector which I won't reveal until I am accepted and the ball is rolling. It means an actual career and more money even whilst I'm training...

Until I apply and get the go ahead I shall keep this to myself for now.

You may remember this from this from the news 24 thread not long back.

Sadly my hopes have been dashed. I am simply not educated to a high enough standard.

It would have been a seriously great opportunity for me to earn, learn and actually make a career. I did try and appeal to them bit it fell on deaf ears. But alas it is not meant to be.

Still I'm on the lookout for another job, ideally one where I can earn, learn and make a career. I'm really beginning to tire of the trade plate firm and know I can do better than this. I do have plans but I need to start now as it is getting to me.

Didnt they pay expenses?

Whereabouts are you and what do you do? I am seriously considering the need for an office manager.

Well I live in Essex, basically near J31 of the M25. So if you are based somewhere not too far away it might be something I can help with.

Current role is financial services sales, mainly to pension funds of all sizes. However I have managed teams of up to 12 people so managing a small to mid sized office shouldn't present any issues. If you are south east based and fancy an informal chat, send me a PM!

And no, they didn't pay expenses. I have never had expenses reimbursed when interviewing

"Hello Richard, they were all fucking about so I sacked the bloody lot of them. Thats OK right?"

Tbh, I thought all replies to Gumtree went via tooSavvy's computer. A bit like feeding the Persian alphabet through a shredder, then just gluing some of it back together again.

Hey Mo, a pal of mine trained up to be a bus driver, they paid for all the training. He seems to enjoy it.

I just thought I'd sit in the rear seats of the Rover as they looked nice and sofa like.

Smashed my bloody head on the door frame getting in. Ow.

Yeah, you know I said 'at least the traffic will be gone' well, it wasn't. 'THIS ROAD SHUT FOR 2 NIGHTS'. This being one of those nights, that being the A14 and me being double grumpety.

Ideal customer phone manner, but too far away I'm afraid. Good luck job hunting, and I'm amazed about expenses - mine always were, but that was over twenty years ago.

Had that at my interview here, was told i'd need to give a 10 minute powerpoint presentation on a project i'd worked on in the past - gotta be honest I was kinda shitting it about this and nearly called the interview off over it - I'm really not great at that sort of thing.  Anyway, as it turns out, i'm actually not bad at it because once I got over the initial nerves I was killing it.  Then, my now boss, is like, "this is great but we need to wrap up soon..." - Rude!

Still got the job though, and grew a little bit as a person because I no longer fear standing up and giving presentations, although i'm sure many people fear having to listen to them.

they were so pissed they could hardly stand or walk, indeed the bloke driving managed to open his door into the Civic hard as he unloaded his ample frame from his vehicle due to reduced motor functions and parking too close despite miles of free space on the passenger side. Also he was wearing shorts, in January, certified bell-end...

Ebay valve core tool for 99p, and 6" of parcel tape to stick the removed cores to the centre of the twat's windscreen.  You can loosely refit the dust caps for significantly reduced noise while the tyres go flat too.

I have never* done this to anyone who has driven while pissed before.  Nor have I stolen a rotor arm.  Or removed a wheel and fucked off with it.
