Bastard cheap op com I bought - cannot get it working because computer says it cannot find the drivers for the usb device.

I wonder what will happen when we have power cuts in future and people will not know what a pen and paper is?

I only got mine working on an old XP laptop, not a fucking chance on anything more recent

Wife off to NZ for a month. She leaves me £300 and another 100 in the vase, just in case. Wtf? I don't spend money?  Freezer is full of meat , chicken, bread the lot. 5 large jars of coffee, guiness, tropicana orange juice. " I know you don't like to shop so you won't need to" .  Mmm must be a catch here. Playing around in garage, music blaring in house, no washing dishes?  I have died and went to heaven.

As we bade goodbuy at airport she says," I have filled the wee Jazz right up, so be sure and use it to save you using yours". Too good to be true this.

Gets home, right dinner, clash the pans and fuckin give this kitchen a real seeing too with no cleaning up. Yip, sure enough..........There was not a Tattie in the hoose!!!!  Feckin' women...........useless  :-D

Callipers have been going back for years, where do you think they get the ones to recondition & sell otherwise?

Thought they would have made new ones like with most other bits.

Tbh I've never had to change a caliper before. Only ever had one bind on my mk2 and a shit ton of grease fixed it.

I have to drive down a country road to get to where I'm working at the moment. Unfortunately I'm going in the opposite direction to the commuting turds in their big blobby 16 plate 4x4 things.

The road is wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass each other with reasonable ease, unless a truck, tractor or similar is coming the other way. (rare).

They ALL stay 4 feet from the verge on their side, probably so they don't get mud on their nice new blob, and expect me to practically chuck my "non blobby shite" into the fcuking trees. If I held my line I would get scraped down the side nearly every effing day.

2 miles country road then dual carriage way into Brum. What the f**k do they have them for? Answer, "well, I live in the country".     Well, LEARN HOW TO DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY YOU F*CK HEAD.     Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

I noticed that when I came home for Christmas. I blame GPS because it brings all the people in the shiny big new wagon things who previously drove a Fiesta down roads they have no idea the width of (i.e. narrow) where they would have previously stuck to the main road and signposts.

I was piloting something.. uh.. I think it was Japanese, maybe German that I had hired, which felt small compared to the vehicles I drive here (Renault notwithstanding). I can still recall the expression of the woman driving a Mitsubishi Behemoth as I squeezed past her, making her edge closer to the hedgerow, probably setting off all kinds of sensor bleeps, buzzers and bells warning of proximity to other things on the road.

the UK isn't designed for such vehicles. Nor are most of the drivers.

Condolences FP.

One of my ideal jobs has come up after watching for it for years. Which would be great but it's only bloody part time, and only 15 hours at that.

The wages were always going to be crap but I'd have to find a second job to make up the hours if I did go for it.

Just been into the vets to get Phoebes pills, every month it's £55 odd. Today their three monthly worm/flea/tic tablet is due so the bill was £83 odd. I was a bit surprised and then pissed rigt off when I was told that Phoebe has to see the vet next time before they will give her the pills which is another £40.

Just paid when matey behind the counter pipes up with: 'I've not charged you for Chesters pill. That's another £32 please'. So £115 for a few pills for the poor old dog. I don't begrudge it (to her at any rate) but I do think vets take the piss rather. £32 for a flea/worm pill ffs!

Find a proper vets that smells of horses and cow muck not a posh one, much better service in my experience and they put the animal first rather than what profit they can rake in.

You can buy wormers/ flea pills over the internet at much reduced prices or our local farmers supplies place has them on the shelf.

FP, really sorry to hear about this.  As others have said, treasure the memories.

Make/buy some raw pastry and give a small amount to the dogs every week, if necessary with food or treats although mine would always just gulp it down. It sorts out worms for £ almost nothing...and keeps them away....

Bloody hell FP thats bad news, but how marvellous you were there to be with him at the end.

Still miss my old dad and he's been gone nigh on 30 years, however his stubborn as a bloody mule Cheshire streak is alive and kicking in my lad.

Look for his quirks in the next generation, it'll make you smile.

I think I have the Bentley of dogs. Our lab is costing us about £300 a month in pills!

Condolences FP, lost my dad in 2009 sounds like in similar circumstances. Still miss him, and find myself planning on phoning him "tonght" to tell him about some experience at work or similar then realise I can't.

My own grumps today I was going to post about seem immaterial really.

Condolensces, FP, and to echo jon928se's sentiments (above), my dad passed away in 2003, a few months after I'd bought a VW Passat B3 estate with 171000 miles on it - I took it for MOT a couple of weeks later and told just about everyone I met that I hadn't done any work on it and it "passed FIRST TIME!", because I couldn't tell my dad. :-(

Cheers shiters, it just doesnt seem real if you know what i mean. Im just trying to keep busy.

Condolences Fordperv I'm sure for a change I speak for everyone that we're all here to help with anything if needed.

In similarish news my dad had to go into a care home this week as his dementia has got to the stage where he doesn't really know who we are and is becoming violent to my mum.

We used to work together at our family garage and would always ask about my Fiestas. When I saw him he didn't really know what was happening.

It's like that at first, but in a month or so it will suddenly feel very real indeed. Laugh, cry, talk to someone about it when you need to.

Neighbours next door but one have builders in and they've started a fire to burn rubbish in the garden, the whole hours stinks of smoke and everyone's washing is ruined. Fecking builders!

Are you in a smoke free area? It's illegal if you are.

I think we are. Apparently the Mrs has rung the woman who lives at the house and she's going to have a word with him.

Take your time as everyone is different. I almost feel guilty that I wasn't upset enough when my Dad died, then about four months later I was in Morrisons and saw a DVD and thought 'I'll get that for Dad for his birthday' and was then in bits for a few weeks. It had just taken that long to sink in. It does get easier over time but it's never the same as before.

I also was home for Christmas, and noticed the exact same thing. Thank God these peeps don't own a Lincoln Navigator or Ford Expedition............

Condolences on your loss FP.
