Who the fuck even listens to Shania Twain nowadays?

Your neighbours.

Re trucks

Can there really be that much a difference in fuel from 56 to 50 in something that weighs 40 odd tons.

Posted

Yes. Even 56 down to 53. But the bawbags forget to reschedule runs and extra driving time to accommodate it. I'm sure the saving can't really be worth it if the overtime is taken into account.

Whilst a fair number of you despise Christmas, I have nothing but outright hatred of New Years Eve. It seems we struggle to get through all year, fail often, succeed rarely, and then let's celebrate as a another bastard rocks up and we have to start all over again.

I would be quite happy to order in a curry and go to bed about 10ish as I was up early this morning but no, AlfaFemale has decided we ought to go to her sisters for a "Party". Now don't get me wrong I usually enjoy a Party but the most exciting thing happening will be a game of trivial pursuit for the adults whilst fucking Paw Patrol is on the TV cranked up to 11 because children.

Nobody else drinks, so no doubt I'll once again get funny looks from the entire in law family when I start on the Vodka after eradicating a six pack of ale as that's more or less the only way I can get through it.

End of rant. Happy New Year all!

Yeah, this is half the problem, loads of companies limit at 50mph instead.

Got a stinking headache today after drinking a load of whiskey last night that I got for xmas, and Waynetta Slob from next door has decided that today is a good day to get her Shania Twain album out and play it at full blast. Who the fuck even listens to Shania Twain nowadays?

That don't impress me much.

A19 down from Tyneside to Thirsk..... Lots of artics. but not a bad haul....

A fair smattering of [seasonal] farm tractor/trailers.

You (should) scan the horizon for slow in N/S & adopt strategy to get into O/S neatly :-P

BUT..... the number of cars you see trundling along (71+ some!!) and then shit themselves when a tractor (plain as a barn door - in the distance) blocks their progress. They just indicate/swerve out and rely on everyone else - like me, who has seen the whole thing developing as inevitable - have to pre plan OUR avoiding of them!.

.... it happens often enough to be just dim tossers, no excuses..... :-(

TS

A few years back I was driving down the dual carriageway section of the A9, towards Stirling. I was in my MX-5 in the pissing rain and I was doing 60mph in the outside lane. There was a tractor/trailer up ahead in the inside lane, and as I was going past it, a Vauxhall Astra just plowed straight into the back of it, no brake lights, nothing. I saw the airbags go off as I was right next to it all as it happened.

The weirdest part was, once I got to Stirling I stopped and phoned Police Scotland to report it. They said they had no reports of an incident, and basically told me to shut up and go away (but not in those words).

You know the big trucks, with the huge flashing arrow on the back, about 10 feet tall? Someone drove into the back of one of them up here last year. Don't get me started on folks not seeing things on the roads...

We have 2 Scanias and my 7 ton iveco.when we all go to a job, big scania does 59,littler scania does 57 and my iveco does 55. Amazing the difference this makes when going 15 miles along the dual carriageway, but mine does 55 everywhere, but big scania sometimes drops to 51 up the m90. Limiters suck.

Bugger the washers broken. Has been making a banging noise for a bit and today it washed some stuff but didn't spin them.

I didn't know so span them again and you can hear the motor going but the drum doesn't move. Might be just the belt or a suspension spring but as we have some weird unlimited warranty I won't be touching it.

I saw a guy run into a line of cones on the M1 years ago. He was in a newish merc and they were closing the outside lane. He came along doing at least 60 and just ploughed into the cones and then slid into barrier when a few got stuck under the car. There were no brake lights as he went past me so can only assume he had fallen asleep but it was the middle of the morning.

I saw something similar on the m1 too.

Guy in a cavalier just ploughed through them.

As I went past him I could see the face of a man physically shitting in his trousers!!.

Years ago a tyre fitting friend of mine was changing a wheel on the M56 and was chatting to the driver when he suddenly grabbed him and dived over the barrier just as an escort van ploughed into the back of his van.

The passenger bought it but the driver just about survived..

Pretty sure companies get taxed on CO2 as part of the imaginary man made climate change scheme, it probably saves a load there too.

I used to drive coaches so know how bloody annoying limiters are. You always find the slowest thing uphill has the highest limiter setting on the flat. I once overtook an Oxford Tube coach on the M40 about a dozen times between London & Oxford. We were both driving the same model of coach, but his was quicker uphill & mine downhill.

Are you sure you weren't carrying a pie-eaters' club on board?

Nah mine was older & had about 800k on the clock, it was what is known in the trade as fucked.

...Nobody else drinks...

No offence, but what the fuck have you married into??

I agree re NYE. Going out used to be hellish; waiting for half an hour to get served drinks in a pub you'd had to pay to get into, interspersed with bumping into people you'd rather avoid and wishing them a happy new year etc.

And that's before taking into account that I'm an atheist and the day idea based on the Christian calender,  so completely meaningless to me-might as well celebrate the passing of another year on 7th June.  And that's another thing; when is this bloke supposed to have been born? Christmas day,  or 1st January?

It's all about forward planning - In December I stay away from the pub (packed with "one month a year" drinkers) and really hammer the gym (deserted) instead.

Come January the pubs are empty and the gym is full of annoying "new year resolutionists", so I drink more than I exercise.

From February onwards the normal balance is restored

Every fucker whining on about Katie Hopkins.

Jesus, she's not Pol Pot FFS. If you don't like her, don't listen. I have listened and I'm not bothered either way. But if you don't like her, don't bitch like a spoilt brat on Facebook and be all 'offended'* because some of us really don't give a shit. Just move on.

*Being 'offended. The mark of a wanker these days. Grow a thicker skin and man the fuck up.

She's just doing her job, really.

Sadly her job seems to be to be as vile as possible about as many people as she can, to raise her Google search rankings and sell more papers.

I could of sworn you were in a pub or two in Temple Bar the other night.

Katie Hopkins talks a lot of sense, but whatever the rights and wrongs of what she spouts she upsets the snowflakes so she gets a thumbs up from me.

KH is a boring slag. Starving her of the oxyen of publicity is the best thing anyone can do.

Having an exciting night fitting some Reliant ss1 wheels to the r18.

Only destroyed 2 tyres in the process, tyre machine chewed them.

Wrong. We need her badly to counterbalance the generation of whining fuckwits who think Corbyn is 'alright really' and think Jack Whitehall is funny. The day we stop giving her the right to speak her mind, we've become a sugar coated communist state.

Posted

She's go the right of course, but she's still a gobby scrubber who should be ignored.

Not everything she says is bad - she gets carried away. My Dad hated Tony Benn with real venom, talking about socialism whilst fucking up UK industry and being born into wealth. But he was such an eloquent speaker and he thought he was doing/saying the right thing.

KH is not in a position of power, just a mouthpiece is a major national newspa..........oh, hang on......

Posted

We're not going to become a communist state.

The thing about KH is that she gets most of her publicity, and therefore power, from people who don't like her.
