Why do storms have to have English names?

This will stop when we leave Europe all storms with English sounding names but without sufficient proof of residency will be returned to their country of origin ;)

EFA.

Oh.  You didn't mean it like that.

One of ours is a 'professional nester' I've seen him make a 3ft high pile of clean washing & climb on top to sleep.

More health problems: teeth now! Broke a back one a week or two ago, now front tooth is loose as fuck (like wobbly, fun as a kid, not so much now) and now the teeth on the bottom right of my jaw all feel 'weird' and hurt if touched.

Left shoulder is now u/s pretty much constantly just to join in the fun.

Time to MTFU and visit the dentist, Dave!  Nothing like tooth problems to make you feel more shit than you need to.

All sympathies, mate  :(

Sympathies Xx3 nothing worse than toothache.

Pretty much decided I hate our Bini. I put loads of effort in to finding the best one I could for my wife, on a budget, naturally.

Turns out to be a rattly, crashing ride and however much I clean it, permanently filthy. Seems to bring out the worst in me and is a magnet for £99-a-month shit drivers. I'v never been tailgated or cut up as frequently as in this car (and I'm well used to driving small cars).

Migraine? Gives me toothache to the extent I could take a pair of pliers to the offending item -luckily it was taken out already.

This month's Practical Classics features a buying guide on the Escort Cosworth. This makes me sad for a number of reasons:

a) It's a Ford Escort

b ) It's a low volume homologation special; whilst that does make it rare and valuable, it's not a classic

c) It's a Ford fucking Escort

d) How is a valuable car with nineties security in any way practical?

e) If this is a classic, I'm old (I suspect this one may be colouring my opinion on the other points)

Biking home from the station on my new OMGRATLUK cruiser, I was passed by four(!) pre-pubescent little shits bombing around the town centre on a blatantly stolen scooter - very shiny, no numberplates, lights off etc.

I fucking despair.

I've now been living in a shit flat in cocking Bushey for a Month while builders fix truck impact damage to house, phoned them last Monday to ask if they'll be finished in the 4 weeks they estimated, no pressure, just need warning if I'll have to extend the flat rental, an Airbnb thing, no problem says they. Tuesday finds me at the house meeting with the surveyor, he asks them if completion shall be timely and is reassured before my two eyes, Wednesday and the flat landlord kindly calls to ask if we'll be done as has a prospective booking, I inform him there's no problem we're on track. Thursday and I get a text message from surveyor along the lines of I need to book another week accommodation. CUNTS, FUCKING BUILDER CUNTS.

I've had enough of Bushey, lived here for a bit before current house, they're still as up themselves as back then, just there's twice as many of them now. Next week I'll be in Northwood, now there's a place where the concept of ones own shit having a stink is in vehement denial, travel by road shall be a challenge, numerous monochrome 4X4 being batted along by sour old trouts just on the point of the change. Black & White Menstrual show.

Can't believe I'm missing cocking Watford.

Fantastic rant, Des.

My grump? Train fares. If I want to go from Bristol to Leeds and back, on a Thursday, more than one month away, it's still going to cost me more than £200, and take longer than driving would if there are no delays. The return journey alone would take 9hours at the time I would need to take it to fulfil the appointment in Leeds... (it's a gig).

Going to Norwich yesterday to visit daughter, C4 gets to end of road & dies. XM won't start so we take Mrs Concern's Mk1 Clio. We get there ok, but, when leaving the timing belt snaps. We got recovered nearly 200 miles in the middle of the night. Even that wasn't straightforward as we had to change transporters half way and both the M11 and the M25 were closed.

LOL that sounds like a fun day.

Im off to Ladbrokes to put a tenner on you getting a 64-plate A3 TDi on finance this week

I can't measure the Renault engine to find out what bits I need to buy because, amusingly, the micrometers I've got are too large to measure the big ends.  Time to buy a different engine and/or give this one to a professional to rebuild for me I reckon.  My patience with this engine has finally reached its end.

Wimmins.

Took Kinky on a trip yesterday on the understanding we would be late back, I'd drive her home and I would not be stopping as I'm not leaving my car on a shitty Leeds street 400 yards away for student tossers to damage it. Fine, lets go. Gets on said trip, and it's constant trying to make me agree to stay whining.

Also told Ma she is not to attempt to remove wallpaper while I'm gone as she will just fuck it up. It's been a fun afternoon today with a tub of filler on the gouges she's made.

@Scary: Yes, I have some.  It's no good for what I need to measure at the moment.  I need to check the big and main end bearings aren't oval, hence the micrometer.  The plastigauge I'll use after I've done the micrometer work to find out what the current clearances are.  Just got a message from Mike to tell me he actually has a digital gauge which might fit so we'll give that a go.  If not, well, I don't know.  I've had enough of this engine and my lack of knowledge/ability holding everything up now.

Well it's not really an Escort is it? It kinda looks like one but that's about as far as it goes.

Welcome to my world. Buyers of sub £3k cars expecting them to be fresh from the production line with no sign of ever being used.
